Underwater image enhancement (UIE) focuses on mitigating image quality degradation due to light absorption and scattering. However, most existing methods enhance images via a global and uniform manner, neglecting the inherent semantic information in different regions, which may cause the network to easily deviate from the region’s original color. Moreover, these methods typically rely on clear images to guide network convergence, a process constrained by the limited availability of real-world datasets, making it extremely challenging to train enhancement models for various degradations. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a semantic guidance and region contrastive constraints network (SRCNet). Initially, we propose a semantic-aware RWKV (Receptance Weighted key Value) block and a semantic prompt regularization module. These components leverage intra-target semantic correlations to preserve image details and colors within a global perceptual framework, while employing focal loss to emphasize the restoration of severely degraded regions. Subsequently, we introduce a region contrastive learning method that effectively utilizes negative samples to precisely capture features sensitive to degradation factors, thereby fostering robust feature distributions. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches.

The aerospace relay, a complex and precise power transmission system integrating electromagnetic and mechanical elements, holds vital significance for spacecraft safety, rendering its operational condition crucial. Therefore, it is imperative to conduct assessments of the health status of aerospace relays. However, existing models for aerospace relays are beset with issues related to data uncertainty and lack of interpretability of evaluation outcomes. Existing models for aerospace relays grapple with issues surrounding data uncertainty and the uninterpretable nature of their evaluation results. The extended belief rule base (EBRB) is a modeling approach adept at addressing uncertainties, characterized by a lucid inference mechanism and inherently interpretable results. However, current research has overlooked the fact that, during actual operation of aerospace relays, external disturbances and internal influences can lead to an imbalance among health status categories, resulting in a tendency for minority samples to be disregarded during training and rendering accurate evaluations of all categories unattainable. Consequently, this paper proposes an EBRB-based method for assessing the health status of aerospace relays that incorporates Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE). Firstly, the sample dataset is balanced using SMOTE. Secondly, an EBRB model is constructed to process the data. Lastly, ensemble reasoning (ER) algorithm is employed for fusion inference. In the experiment, the data processed by this model demonstrated obvious advantages across all performance indicators, indicating the model's powerful efficacy in the health status assessment of aerospace relays.

VAGeo: View-specific Attention for Cross-View Object Geo-Localization

Cross-view object geo-localization (CVOGL) aims to locate an object of interest in a captured ground- or drone-view image within the satellite image. However, existing works treat ground-view and drone-view query images equivalently, overlooking their inherent viewpoint discrepancies and the spatial correlation between the query image and the satellite-view reference image. To this end, this paper proposes a novel View-specific Attention Geo-localization method (VAGeo) for accurate CVOGL. Specifically, VAGeo contains two key modules: view-specific positional encoding (VSPE) module and channel-spatial hybrid attention (CSHA) module. In object-level, according to the characteristics of different viewpoints of ground and drone query images, viewpoint-specific positional codings are designed to more accurately identify the click-point object of the query image in the VSPE module. In feature-level, a hybrid attention in the CSHA module is introduced by combining channel attention and spatial attention mechanisms simultaneously for learning discriminative features. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed VAGeo gains a significant performance improvement, i.e., improving acc@0.25/acc@0.5 on the CVOGL dataset from 45.43%/42.24% to 48.21%/45.22% for ground-view, and from 61.97%/57.66% to 66.19%/61.87% for drone-view. sEMG (surface electromyography) signal control of bionic prostheses has been widely studied over the past few years. In particular, sparse sEMG signals are rapidly developing in the field of gesture recognition for their convenience, noninvasiveness, and ease of access. However, compared with high-density EMG signals, sparse EMG signals lack rich feature information, which in turn affects gesture recognition accuracy. In order to reduce the loss of feature information of sparse EMG signals in the spatio-temporal dimension, this paper proposes a hybrid neural network Res-LSTM combining residual network and long short-term memory network. The ordinary convolutional blocks in the CNN network are replaced with residual blocks, and the final fully connected layer is removed and a constant mapping layer is added to adequate extraction of spatial feature information of the data. The Res layer’s output is utilized as the input for the long and short-term memory (LSTM) network, which further extracts the features of the data in the temporal dimension, and finally completes the categorization output through a fully connected layer. The average accuracy of 91.11% for gesture-motion classification was verified by training on a homebrew dataset;and tested on a public dataset, NinaPro DB1, with an average accuracy of 91.03%. The experimental findings indicate that the proposed Res-LSTM network framework contributes to solving the problem of lack of feature information of sparse sEMG signals and improves the pattern recognition accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Event-based Video Person Re-identification via Cross-Modality and Temporal Collaboration

Video-based person re-identification (ReID) has become increasingly important due to its applications in video surveillance applications. By employing events in video-based person ReID, more motion information can be provided between continuous frames to improve recognition accuracy. Previous approaches have assisted by introducing event data into the video person ReID task, but they still cannot avoid the privacy leakage problem caused by RGB images. In order to avoid privacy attacks and to take advantage of the benefits of event data, we consider using only event data. To make full use of the information in the event stream, we propose a Cross-Modality and Temporal Collaboration (CMTC) network for event-based video person ReID. First, we design an event transform network to obtain corresponding auxiliary information from the input of raw events. Additionally, we propose a differential modality collaboration module to balance the roles of events and auxiliaries to achieve complementary effects. Furthermore, we introduce a temporal collaboration module to exploit motion information and appearance cues. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms others in the task of event-based video person ReID. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Due to the diversity of nonlinear loads, the harmonic frequency of the DC microgrid is unpredictable, which poses a challenge to traditional DC active power filters (DC-APF). Firstly, the harmonic compensation mechanism and characteristics of the DC-APF with classical control strategy are analyzed. For the classical DC-APF, the voltage control and harmonic extraction are independent of each other, which may lead to their conflict and reduce the harmonic compensation performance. To address this issue, a harmonic current self-compensation control strategy of DC-APF is proposed, which uses a first-order inertia controller in the voltage loop and can simultaneously achieve voltage control and harmonic extraction. Then, the mechanism, characteristics, and parametric design method of the proposed harmonic current self-compensation control are introduced in detail. Compared with the classical DC-APF, the proposed DC-APF does not require any harmonic extraction filter and has better harmonic current compensation performance. Finally, the proposed control strategy and theoretical analysis are verified by simulation and experiment. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

To address the issues of defect leakage and mis-segmentation in the surface defect segmentation of solid oxide fuel cells, we propose a cascaded mixed pyramid pooling segmentation method. In the encoding part, attention-based depth-wise separable convolution is implemented to replace the traditional convolution. This reduces the computational complexity and achieves hierarchical feature extraction. Secondly, cascaded sampling is applied to the last three layers of the encoder to promote multi-level feature fusion, and mixed pyramid pooling consisting of atrous convolution and strip pooling is adopted to achieve feature extraction for long-range band defects. Lastly, an adaptive loss function is constructed to supervise the training process, balancing the relative importance among the losses and improving the learning of defect features by the network. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed method improves segmentation accuracy, as evidenced by better results in mean absolute error, F1 score, intersection over union, and Pratt's figure of merit. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Deep learning has achieved remarkable results in the field of target detection and recognition. For small targets in images, image pyramid can be used to fuse multi-scale features to improve detection performance. However, when test on remote sensing images, it is found that some important small goals will still be missed. Aiming at the problems of small target detection in remote sensing images, this paper proposes two S2ANet improved network variants based on the attention mechanism for synthetic aperture radar(SAR) payload and optical payload: for SAR images, CBAM(Convolutional Block Attention Module) attention is added to the backbone network to increase the attention of the feature extraction network for small targets in the channel and space dimensions;For optical images, firstly increase the CBAM channel attention and spatial attention in the backbone, secondly, the SE(Squeeze And Excitation) channel attention is added to the input features before the channel dimension fusion of the pyramid structure, then the attention-enhanced targets are fully integrated through up-sampling and horizontal splicing operations to improve the missed alarm rate and recall rate of small remote sensing targets. Finally, a comparative verification was carried out on the constructed airborne KU-band SAR data set and the optical remote sensing aircraft data set composed of some DOTA1.5 and FAIR1M data sets. The experimental results proved that the designed two variant networks can be used for small remote sensing. There have been certain improvements in the missed alarm rate, accuracy rate, and recall rate of the target. © 2021 IEEE.

Generalized eigenvalue problem (GEP) plays a significant role in signal processing and machine learning. This paper proposes a consensus-based distributed algorithm for GEP in multi-agent systems, where data samples are distributively stored across agents. The distributed GEP is reformulated as a consensus optimization, but the presence of its quadratic inseparable constraint makes the considered problem more challenging. To deal with it, a sequential method is proposed combined with the alternating direction method of multipliers, which requires communication between couples of nodes. Theoretical analysis shows the proposed algorithm will converge to the set of stationary solutions. And the numerical experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets validate that the approximated solution is competitive to the ground truth. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
