Cryogenic electronics have become essential in reducing the number of input/output ports to the quantum chips and generating multiplexed reading and control pulses for scalable quantum computation 1-5. A demanding request for cryogenic electronics is to support efficient machine learning algorithms, which have been proven effective for essential quantum computation tasks such as quantum error correction and quantum control 6,7. However, current digital cryogenic electronics suffer from the von Neumann bottleneck, where the physical separation of computation and memory units causes a huge amount of energy and delay when processing data-intensive programs. Energy-efficient hardware implementation of machine learning algorithms for quantum computation requires nonvolatile and electrically-programmable devices, memristors, working at cryogenic temperatures that enable in-memory computing 8,9. Magnetic topological insulators are promising candidates due to their tunable magnetic order by electrical currents with high energy efficiency 10-15. Here, we utilize magnetic topological insulators as memristors (termed magnetic topological memristors) and introduce a chiral edge state-based cryogenic in-memory computing scheme. On the one hand, the chiral edge state can be tuned from left-handed to right-handed chirality through spin-momentum locked topological surface current injection. On the other hand, the chiral edge state exhibits giant and bipolar anomalous Hall resistance, which facilitates the electrical readout. The memristive switching and reading of the chiral edge state exhibit high energy efficiency, high stability, and low stochasticity. We achieve high accuracy in a proof-of-concept classification task using four magnetic topological memristors. To boost energy saving for the general delay-tolerant IoT networks, a two-stage, and single-relay queueing communication scheme is investigated. Concretely, a traffic-aware $N$-threshold and gated-service policy are applied at the relay. As two fundamental and significant performance metrics, the mean waiting time and long-term expected power consumption are explicitly derived and related with the queueing and service parameters, such as packet arrival rate, service threshold and channel statistics. Besides, we take into account the electrical circuit energy consumptions when the relay server and access point (AP) are in different modes and energy costs for mode transitions, whereby the power consumption model is more practical. The expected power minimization problem under the mean waiting time constraint is formulated. Tight closed-form bounds are adopted to obtain tractable analytical formulae with less computational complexity. The optimal energy-saving service threshold that can flexibly adjust to packet arrival rate is determined. In addition, numerical results reveal that: 1) sacrificing the mean waiting time not necessarily facilitates power savings;2) a higher arrival rate leads to a greater optimal service threshold;and 3) our policy performs better than the current state-of-the-art. © 2020 IEEE.

Free-space circularly polarized light (CPL) detection, requiring polarizers and waveplates, has been well established, while such spatial degree of freedom is unfortunately absent in integrated on-chip optoelectronics. So far, those reported filterless CPL photodetectors suffer from the intrinsic small discrimination ratio, vulnerability to the non-CPL field components, and low responsivity. Here, we report a distinct paradigm of geometric photodetectors in mid-infrared exhibiting colossal discrimination ratio, close-to-perfect CPL-specific response, a zero-bias responsivity of 392 V/W at room temperature, and a detectivity of ellipticity down to 0.03o Hz−1/2. Our approach employs plasmonic nanostructures array with judiciously designed symmetry, assisted by graphene ribbons to electrically read their near-field optical information. This geometry-empowered recipe for infrared photodetectors provides a robust, direct, strict, and high-quality solution to on-chip filterless CPL detection and unlocks new opportunities for integrated functional optoelectronic devices. Breast cancer (BC) remains the most diagnosed cancer in women, accounting for 12% of new annual cancer cases in Europe and worldwide. Advances in surgery, radiotherapy and systemic treatment have resulted in improved clinical outcomes and increased survival rates in recent years. However, BC therapy-related cardiotoxicity, may severely impact short- and long-term quality of life and survival. This study presents the CARDIOCARE platform and its main components, which by integrating patient-specific data from different categories, data from patient-oriented eHealth applications and wearable devices, and by employing advanced data mining and machine learning approaches, provides the healthcare professionals with a valuable tool for effectively managing BC patients and preventing or alleviating treatment induced *** Relevance— Through the adoption of CARDIOCARE platform healthcare professionals are able to stratify patients for their risk for cardiotoxicity and timely apply adequate interventions to prevent its onset.

Nonlinear mapping is an essential and common demand in online systems, such as sensor systems and mobile phones. Accelerating nonlinear mapping will directly speed up online systems. Previously the authors of this paper proposed a Dendrite Net (DD) with enormously lower time complexity than the existing nonlinear mapping algorithms;however, there still are redundant calculations in DD. This paper presents a DD with an acceleration module (AC) to accelerate nonlinear mapping further. We conduct three experiments to verify whether DD with AC has lower time complexity while retaining DD's nonlinear mapping properties and system identification properties: The first experiment is the precision and identification of unary nonlinear mapping, reflecting the calculation performance using DD with AC for basic functions in online systems. The second experiment is the mapping precision and identification of the multi-input nonlinear system, reflecting the performance for designing online systems via DD with AC. Finally, this paper compares the time complexity of DD and DD with AC and analyzes the theoretical reasons through repeated experiments. Results: DD with AC retains DD's excellent mapping and identification properties and has lower time complexity. Significance: DD with AC can be used for most engineering systems, such as sensor systems, and will speed up computation in these online systems. This paper mainly analyzes the set stability of switched Boolean networks(SBNs) by considering two different methods of switching signals in the form of open-loop and closed-loop switching. First, the definitions of set stability are proposed for SBNs with such switching signals. Then, we propose two different algorithms to find the largest open-loop switching invariant set and largest closed-loop switching invariant set. Furthermore, the corresponding set stability conditions for SBNs are given in each case. In addition,the constructive procedures are presented to design the switching signal sequence to achieve set stability under the two different methods of switching signals. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms and research results are demonstrated using two numerical examples.

The ever-increasing amount of data from ubiquitous smart devices fosters data-centric and cognitive algorithms. Traditional digital computer systems have separate logic and memory units, resulting in a huge delay and energy cost for implementing these algorithms. Memristors are programmable resistors with a memory, providing a paradigm-shifting approach towards creating intelligent hardware systems to handle data-centric tasks. Spintronic nanodevices are promising choices as they are high-speed, low-power, highly scalable, robust, and capable of constructing dynamic complex systems. In this Review, we survey spintronic devices from a memristor point of view. We introduce spintronic memristors based on magnetic tunnel junctions, nanomagnet ensemble, domain walls, topological spin textures, and spin waves, which represent dramatically different state spaces. They can exhibit steady, oscillatory, stochastic, and chaotic trajectories in their state spaces, which have been exploited for in-memory logic, neuromorphic computing, stochastic and chaos computing. Despite significant advances in image-to-image (I2I) translation with generative adversarial networks (GANs), it remains challenging to effectively translate an image to a set of diverse images in multiple target domains using a single pair of generator and discriminator. Existing I2I translation methods adopt multiple domain-specific content encoders for different domains, where each domain-specific content encoder is trained with images from the same domain only. Nevertheless, we argue that the content (domain-invariance) features should be learned from images among all of the domains. Consequently, each domain-specific content encoder of existing schemes fails to extract the domain-invariant features efficiently. To address this issue, we present a flexible and general SoloGAN model for efficient multimodal I2I translation among multiple domains with unpaired data. In contrast to existing methods, the SoloGAN algorithm uses a single projection discriminator with an additional auxiliary classifier and shares the encoder and generator for all domains. Consequently, the SoloGAN can be trained effectively with images from all domains such that the domain-invariance content representation can be efficiently extracted. Qualitative and quantitative results over a wide range of datasets against several counterparts and variants of the SoloGAN demonstrate the merits of the method, especially for challenging I2I translation datasets, i.e., datasets involving extreme shape variations or need to keep the complex backgrounds unchanged after translations. Furthermore, we demonstrate the contribution of each component in SoloGAN by ablation studies. Impact Statement-Image-to-image (I2I) translation is a popular technology in image synthesis.
