This study explores the integration of Educational Robotics (ER) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in learning environments, highlighting their collective impact on educational practices. It assesses ER and IoT’s application, challenges, and opportunities, offering insights into their role in enhancing pedagogy and learning outcomes. Specifically, our exploration uncovers the transformative potential of ER and IoT in fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and digital literacy among students and reveals the pivotal role these technologies play in preparing learners for the demands of the digital age and Industry 4.0, while also highlighting the need for strategic implementation and teacher support. intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and Terahertz (THz) communications, which are recognized as 6G promising techniques, have attracted significant attentions. We propose UAV energy minimization schemes for IRS/UAV-based mobile-edge-computing (MEC) and traffic-offloading over broadband THz mobile networks. In the networks, multiple UAVs serving as MEC-servers collect data from multiple ground users (GUs) with the assistance of a set of passive IRSs. First, we formulate a UAV energy minimization problem, which jointly optimizes the IRSs' phase shifts, UAVs' trajectories, and system computation and communication resources. For THz communications, since the composite channel power gains of GUs are complicated functions of UAVs' trajectories and IRSs' phase shifts, the formulated optimization problem is non-convex. Then, using the alternating optimization (AO) technique, we decompose this non-convex optimization problem into three sub-problems which then can be iteratively solved. Finally, we validate and evaluate the proposed schemes by numerical analyses, which show that the energy consumption of UAVs can be reduced by around 40% by using IRSs. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a decoupled parameter estimation method for PMSM considering temperature rise and inverter distortion. Both electrical and mechanical models are explored to derive the estimation model to achieve better parameter estimation accuracy. Specifically, the proposed approach firstly performs the initial estimation of the PM flux, winding resistance and friction coefficient by considering the temperature effect, and then derives the decoupled model for inductance estimation using both the electrical and mechanical measurements. Compared with other approaches, our decoupled approach employs the mechanical model and considers the temperature effect, which can make the parameter identification more accurate. The experiment is performed on a test PMSM to verify the estimation performance of the proposed approach. © 2022 IEEE.

The integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into the electric power distribution system poses numerous challenges and opportunities for optimizing energy management and system operations. Electric vehicle grid interfaces (EVGIs), essentially bidirectional power converters, allow for charging/grid-to-vehicle (G2V) and discharging/vehicle-to-grid (V2G) power transfers. A power dispatch estimation (PDE) model for V2G, based on availability of EVs in a distribution system and capabilities of the distribution system, is needed to assist in grid operations. This paper presents the development of a PDE model based on nodal power flows to capture the complex spatiotemporal dependencies inherent in G2V and V2G patterns. The hierarchical structure of a distribution system, feeder to EVGI node, is taken into consideration for PDE. Typical PDE estimation results are presented for the IEEE 34 test node feeder distribution system allocated with EVGIs.

Changes in coal seam hardness cause fluctuations in the feed resistance at the drill bit during the drilling process, leading to unstable feeding speed. This paper proposes a robust dynamic output feedback controller to suppress disturbances caused by the variations in coal seam hardness in the feed system. Firstly, an unknown parameter measuring coal seam hardness is introduced, and an uncertain model of the feeding system is established based on the finite element model of the drill string. By designing weighted functions based on industrial field requirements and constructing a generalized plant, the controller achieves loop shaping, reducing the low-frequency impact of coal seam hardness variations on the feed system and suppressing the systems resonance peak. Simulation results demonstrate that the controller effectively suppresses parameter variations and external disturbances caused by changes in coal seam hardness, achieving stable control of the drilling speed. © 2024 IEEE.

Adaptive neural network control of a 2-DOF helicopter system considering input constraints and global prescribed performance

In this study, an adaptive neural network(NN) control is proposed for nonlinear two-degree-offreedom(2-DOF) helicopter systems considering the input constraints and global prescribed ***, radial basis function NN(RBFNN) is employed to estimate the unknown dynamics of the helicopter system. Second, a smooth nonaffine function is exploited to approximate and address nonlinear constraint functions. Subsequently, a new prescribed function is proposed, and an original constrained error is transformed into an equivalent unconstrained error using the error transformation and barrier function transformation methods. The analysis of the established Lyapunov function proves that the controlled system is globally uniformly bounded. Finally, the simulation and experimental results on a constructed Quanser's test platform verify the rationality and feasibility of the proposed control.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

Class-incremental learning poses a significant challenge under an exemplar-free constraint, leading to catastrophic forgetting and sub-par incremental accuracy. Previous attempts have focused primarily on single-modality tasks, such as image classification or audio event classification. However, in the context of Audio-Visual Class-Incremental Learning (AVCIL), the effective integration and utilization of heterogeneous modalities, with their complementary and enhancing characteristics, remains largely unexplored. To bridge this gap, we propose the Multi-Modal Analytic Learning (MMAL) framework, an exemplar-free solution for AVCIL that employs a closed-form, linear approach. To be specific, MMAL introduces a modality fusion module that re-formulates the AVCIL problem through a Recursive Least-Square (RLS) perspective. Complementing this, a Modality-Specific Knowledge Compensation (MSKC) module is designed to further alleviate the under-fitting limitation intrinsic to analytic learning by harnessing individual knowledge from audio and visual modality in tandem. Comprehensive experimental comparisons with existing methods show that our proposed MMAL demonstrates superior performance with the accuracy of 76.71%, 78.98%, and 76.19% on AVE, Kinetics-Sounds, and VGGSounds100 datasets, respectively, setting new state-of-the-art AVCIL performance. Notably, compared to those memory-based methods, our MMAL, being an exemplar-free approach, provides good data privacy and can better leverage multi-modal information for improved incremental accuracy. © 2024 ACM.

This study focuses on the exploration of five novel π-conjugated organic compounds for potential incorporation into organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The molecular structure of these compounds follows a D-Di-D setup, with a carbazole acting as the D component, and the specific Di component varying based on the donor utilized. Through analysis at the DFT/B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) level, including the determination of HOMO–LUMO energy values, after optimizing the molecules' ground state, the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) was studied using Egap band gap. Utilizing the TD-DFT and ZINDO method the optical properties like absorption (λmax) and emission (λem) were explored. Based on SILVACO-TCAD software, the estimated current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the two most efficient molecules were obtained. The indices of the studied molecules calculated from these interactions indicates that the molecules have sufficient properties which allow these molecules to be considered promising candidates for use in OLED devices as high-performing active materials.
