Using Quadrics as the object representation has the benefits of both generality and closed-form projection derivation between image and world spaces. Although numerous constraints have been proposed for dual quadric reconstruction, we found that many of them are imprecise and provide minimal improvements to localization. After scrutinizing the existing constraints, we introduce a concise yet more precise convex hull-based algebraic constraint for object landmarks, which is applied to object reconstruction, frontend pose estimation, and backend bundle adjustment. This constraint is designed to fully leverage precise semantic segmentation, effectively mitigating mismatches between complex-shaped object contours and dual quadrics. Experiments on public datasets demonstrate that our approach is applicable to both monocular and RGB-D SLAM and achieves improved object mapping and localization than existing quadric SLAM methods. A Reduced Reachability Tree for a Class of Unbounded Petri Nets

As a powerful analysis tool of Petri nets, reachability trees are fundamental for systematically investigating many characteristics such as boundedness, liveness and reversibility. This work proposes a method to generate a reachability tree, called ωRT for short, for a class of unbounded generalized nets called ω-independent nets based on new modified reachability trees (NMRTs). ωRT can effectively decrease the number of nodes by removing duplicate and ω-duplicate nodes in the tree, and verify properties such as reachability, liveness and deadlocks. Two examples are provided to show its superiority over NMRTs in terms of tree size. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

A primary challenge for visual-based Reinforcement Learning (RL) is to generalize effectively across unseen environments. Although previous studies have explored different auxiliary tasks to enhance generalization, few adopt image reconstruction due to concerns about exacerbating overfitting to task-irrelevant features during training. Perceiving the pre-eminence of image reconstruction in representation learning, we propose SMG (Separated Models for Generalization), a novel approach that exploits image reconstruction for generalization. SMG introduces two model branches to extract task-relevant and task-irrelevant representations separately from visual observations via cooperatively reconstruction. Built upon this architecture, we further emphasize the importance of task-relevant features for generalization. Specifically, SMG incorporates two additional consistency losses to guide the agent's focus toward task-relevant areas across different scenarios, thereby achieving free from overfitting. Extensive experiments in DMC demonstrate the SOTA performance of SMG in generalization, particularly excelling in video-background settings. Evaluations on robotic manipulation tasks further confirm the robustness of SMG in real-world applications. Research on road topology based mobility prediction schemes

Geographic routing has been introduced in mobile ad hoc networks and sensor networks. But its per-formance suffers greatly from mobility-induced location errors that can cause Lost Link （LLNK） and LOOP problems. Thus various mobility prediction algorithms have been proposed to mitigate the errors, but sometimes their prediction errors are substantial. A novel mobility prediction technique that incorpo-rates both mobile positioning information and road topology knowledge was presented. Furthermore, the performance of the scheme was evaluated via simulations, along with two other schemes, namely, Linear Velocity Prediction （LVP） and Weighted Velocity Prediction （WVP） for comparison purpose. The results of simulation under Manhattan mobility model show that the proposed scheme could track the movement of a node well and hence provide noticeable improvement over LVP and MVP.

With the emerging of smart metering around the world, there is a growing demand to analyse the residential energy usage. In this paper, we propose a Deep Neural Network (DNN)-based approach for non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM), which can achieve effective and efficient estimation of individual appliance usage according to a single main meter reading in a non-intrusive manner. Considering practical situations, two training methods are provided. The first training approach is fully supervised learning, which requires a ground truth of label, indicating the state of the appliance (ON/OFF), to build a prediction model. The second training approach is semi-supervised learning, leading to better performance by F-Measure metric while only requiring some more unlabelled training data. Experimental results on the low-sample rate REDD dataset demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed DNN-based method compared with Hidden Markov Model (HMM)based and Graph Signal Processing (GSP)-based approaches. © 2019 IEEE.

Thanks to the large-scale smart meters deployments around the world, non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NILM) is receiving popularity. It aims to disaggregate the total electricity load of a home into individual appliances without resorting to any specific appliance power monitors. NILM is worthy of broad attention owing to its facilitation in energy savings. This paper regards NILM as a classification task and proposes a two-step method based on graph signal processing (GSP). In the first step, a smoothest solution is obtained by minimizing the regularization term. In the second step, gradient projection method, which uses the obtained minimizer as a start point, is adopted to optimize the while objective function, where NILM is regarded as a constrained nonlinear programming problem. The experiment results based on the open-access data set REDD clearly demonstrate that the proposed GSP-based method achieves improved performance compared with other state-of-the-art low-rate NILM approaches. © 2019 IEEE.

The essence characteristics of software trustworthiness are software execution effect and behavior can be anticipated, which is an important index of software quality. Under the open and dynamic environments, some uncertainty factors cause the behavior of software to be uncontrolled, uncertainty and unpredictable. Behavior-aware networked software trustworthiness research methods are proposed in the paper. Firstly, we propose the analysis methods of the consistency between the inferred specification models with component specification model. Then, for analyzing the component interaction behavior, the behavior relativity analyzing method is presented based on Petri net. Finally, aimed to the outer factors, we analyze the behavioral congruence between theoretical composite models with dynamic behavior model based on running logs. Theoretical analysis and the example analysis indicated that this method is benefit to analyze the trustworthiness of networked software. © 2010, the authors.

Li and Zhou propose an important concept for Petri nets: elementary siphons. They partition siphons into elementary and dependent ones. The controllability of the latter can be ensured by the former's proper control. They give a sufficient condition to decide whether a dependent siphon is controlled by its elementary ones in S3PR. However, this condition is so loose that in many cases the controllability of a dependent SMS cannot be determined although it is actually controlled. In this paper, we propose an improved condition to decide the controllability of strongly dependent SMS. © 2011 IEEE.

Millimeter wave communication provides high data rates thanks to large arrays at the transmitter and receiver, coupled with large bandwidth channels. Exploiting the arrays is challenging due to the need to configure precoding at the transmitter based on the large frequency selective channel. In this paper we exploit the power iteration principle and propose a robust analog precoding training algorithm that can be applied in both frequency division duplex transmission (FDD) systems and time division duplex transmission (TDD) systems with or without RF calibration. We further analyze the convergence of the proposed algorithm and show how it converges to the singular value decomposition optimality exponentially. We propose null space projection on top of the power iteration to form multiple orthogonal beams at the transmitter and receiver. Strongest tap selection with proper energy pruning is used to collect as much precoding gain as possible from a frequency selective fading channel. The exponential effective SINR mapping performance is evaluated and demonstrates that the overall approach works effectively. Numerical simulation results demonstrate algorithm robustness and the algorithm works effectively not only for the simplified millimeter wave directional channels, but also for more general rich scattering channels. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach, Germany.

This work presents a method to detect the size and location of tumor in soft tissues using ultrasound. Quantitative ultrasound is utilized to allow an ultrasound signal to be sent from a transmitter to multiple receivers. This received signal is analyzed for echogenic and echolucent tumors to differentiate between the two along with non-tumor sample and also studied for the delay to determine the size/location of the tumor. The proposed system utilizes Low Transient Pulse (LTP) technique and is implemented using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technologies. In this co-design architecture, DSP carries out the analysis of received demodulated signal at a lower speed while FPGA runs at a higher one to generate LTP signal and demodulate bandpass ultrasonic signal. This work elaborates the implementation of Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) receiver on FPGA for the received signal from an ultrasound detector. LTP is applied to the tumor samples through the transmitter and the received signal at an ultrasonic receiver is passed through QAM to obtain different maxima that are then further used to compute the location and the size of the tumor using DSP. This dual platform co-design demonstrates a good application of a FPGA/DSP platform for the LTP generation and received signal processing. © 2011 IEEE.
