As a matter of fact, it is usually taken for granted that the occurrence of unauthorized behaviors is necessary for the fraud detection in online payment services. However, we seek to break this stereotype in this work. We strive to design an ex-ante anti-fraud method that can work before unauthorized behaviors occur. The feasibility of our solution is supported by the cooperation of a characteristic and a finding in online payment fraud scenarios: The well-recognized characteristic is that online payment frauds are mostly caused by account compromise. Our finding is that account theft is indeed predictable based on users' high-risk behaviors, without relying on the behaviors of thieves. Accordingly, we propose an account risk prediction scheme to realize the ex-ante fraud detection. It takes in an account's historical transaction sequence, and outputs its risk score. The risk score is then used as an early evidence of whether a new transaction is fraudulent or not, before the occurrence of the new transaction. We examine our method on a real-world B2C transaction dataset from a commercial bank. Experimental results show that the ex-ante detection method can prevent more than 80% of the fraudulent transactions before they actually occur. When the proposed method is combined with an interim detection to form a real-time anti-fraud system, it can detect more than 94% of fraudulent transactions while maintaining a very low false alarm rate (less than 0.1%). © 2020 Inst. This paper proposes a two-dimensional color uncorrelated principal component analysis algorithm(2DCUPCA) for unsupervised subspace learning directly from color face images. The 2DCUPCA can be used to explore uncorrelated properties among color-based features, which contain minimum redundancy and ensure linear independence among features. Furthermore, the proposed 2DCUPCA provided the theoretical foundations analysis and proved the uncorrelated property between color-based features in theory. This makes it sure that the extracted features directly from three color image matrices will be uncorrelated. Finally, experimental results on the AR and FRGC-2 color face databases show that 2DCUPCA achieves better recognition performance than other color face recognition methods. © Springer International Publishing 2013.

Vehicular networks improve traffic safety and efficiency by wireless communications among vehicles and infrastructures. However, security has always been a challenge to vehicular networks, which may cause severe harm to the intelligent transportation systems. Sybil attack is considered as a serious security threat to vehicular networks since the attacker can disseminate false messages with multiple forged identities. In this paper, we designed a behavior feature and multi-scenario-based Sybil attack detection method, named BMSAD in vehicular networks. In BMSAD, we propose solutions for two scenarios: normal traffic and traffic congestion. A node is allowed to verify the authenticity of another node by estimating their geographic distance based on received signal strength, and compare them to its claimed localizations. Then we design long- and short-term pattern to analyze the similarity of vehicles' behavior features and trajectory for Sybil nodes detection, which act as the second line of defense in normal traffic scenario. At last, the Sybil nodes of the traffic congestion scenario are detected by logical inference based on kinematics theory. And experiment results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves high detection rate and low false positive rate. © 2023 SPIE.

This paper presents an inertial estimator learning automata scheme by which both the short-term and long-term perspectives of the environment can be incorporated in the stochastic estimator-the long term information crystallized in terms of the running reward-probability estimates, and the short term information used by considering whether the most recent response was a reward or a penalty. Thus, when the shortterm perspective is considered, the stochastic estimator becomes pertinent in the context of the estimator algorithms. The proposed automata employ an inertial weight estimator as the short-term perspective to achieve a rapid and accurate convergence when operating in stationary random environments. According to the proposed inertial estimator scheme, the estimates of the reward probabilities of actions are affected by the last response from environment. In this way, actions that have gotten the positive response from environment in the short time, have the opportunity to be estimated as "optimal", to increase their choice probability and consequently, to be selected. The estimates become more reliable and consequently, the automaton rapidly and accurately converges to the optimal action. The asymptotic behavior of the proposed scheme is analyzed and it is proved to be Ε-optimal in every stationary random environment. Extensive simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm converges faster than the traditional stochastic-estimator-based SERI scheme, and the deterministicestimator- based DGPA and DPRI schemes when operating in stationary random environments. Skyline query processing has recently received a lot of attention in database *** a set of multi-dimensional objects,the skyline query finds the objects that are not dominated by *** the best of our knowledge,the existing researches mainly focus on how to efficiently return the whole skyline ***,as the cardinality and dimensionality of input dataset increase,the number of skylines grows exponentially,and hence this "huge" skyline set is completely useless to *** by the above fact,in this paper,we present a novel type of l-SkyDiv query,which only returns l skylines having maximum diversity,to improve the usefulness of skyline ***,we prove that the l-SkyDiv query belongs to the NP-Hard problem theoretically,and propose three efficient heuristic algorithms whose time complexities are polynomial to fast implement the proposed ***,we present detailed theoretical analyses and extensive experiments,demonstrating that our algorithms are both efficient and effective.

IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee sensor networks support small power consumption and node expansion compared to other network standards for WSN. Body sensor networks (BSN) require a number of sensors for sensing medical information from human body, and low power consumption to monitor a patient's status for a long time. However, ZigBee has limited bandwidth and is thus hard to support real time data transmission because of the adoption of CSMA-CA as its medium access control (MAC) protocol. In this paper, we will analyze the reasonable number of nodes, size of payload and packet interval for best QoS for such network. It is found that an appropriate MAC parameters setting can improve the QoS compared to the default setting in IEEE 802.15.4 specification. The effective data rate, average end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio are found via simulation for various network settings. The results are useful for the construction of ZigBee networks for patient monitoring and care. © 2012 IEEE.

The information technology has been recognized as one of the most important means to improve health care and curb its ever-increasing cost. However, existing efforts mainly focus on informatization of hospitals or medical institutions within organizations, and few are directly oriented to individuals. The strong demand for various health services from customers calls for the creation of powerful individual-oriented personalized health care service systems. Web service composition (WSC) and related technologies can greatly help one build such systems. This paper aims to present a newly developed platform called a Public-oriented Health care Information service Platform (PHISP) and several novel WSC techniques that are used to build it. Among them include WSC techniques that can well support branch and parallel structures. © 2011 IEEE.

Information-centric networking (ICN) technology is becoming a popular research topic in vehicular networks due to the connectionless and lightweight characteristics of this networking paradigm. Caching plays an essential role in information-centric networks, but current caching techniques for ICN are not ideal for the dynamic and wireless vehicular networks. This paper presents a caching approach for ICN-based vehicular networks that takes into account both the dynamicity of vehicular networks and the popularity of the information being distributed. We introduce an interval metric for selective caching. With this metric and estimates of information popularity and vehicle density, cooperative caching can be realized without exchanging cache management information among the vehicular nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can increase the storage space utilization and has low data response time for vehicular networks. © 2017 Association for computing Machinery.

With wafer revisit, it is complicated to schedule cluster tools in semiconductor fabrication. In wafer fabrication processes, such as atomic layer deposition (ALD), the wafers need to visit some process modules for a number of times. The existing swap-based strategy can be used to operate a dual-arm cluster tool for such a process. It results in a 3-wafer cyclic schedule. However, it is not optimal in the sense of cycle time. Thus, to search for a better schedule, a Petri net model is developed for a dual-arm cluster tool with wafer revisit. With it, the properties of the 3-wafer schedule are analyzed. It is found that, to improve the performance, it is necessary to reduce the number of wafers completed in a cycle. Thus, a 1-wafer schedule is developed by using a new swap-based strategy. © 2012 IEEE.

The world faces an energy problem. Oil supply is gradually running out. Its use is polluting the planet with greenhouse gas. Most alternative energy sources also pose some environmental problems. Hence the efficient use of energy must be an integral part of any solution to them. Whenever possible, one must use advanced control engines and technologies to achieve the highest energy efficiency. In Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry, much research has identified a number of energy-saving control methods.
