This paper considers the application of feature-based simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) using a random finite sets (RFS) framework for an autonomous underwater vehicle. SLAM allows for reduction in localisation error by tracking features which provide a fixed external reference. The SLAM problem is addressed here using a single-cluster probability hypothesis density (PHD) filter. The filter uses a particle approximation for the vehicle position with a conditional Gaussian mixture PHD for the feature map. Map features are selected as unique point features generated from a stereo camera on-board the vehicle. We demonstrate the improvement in localisation applying the algorithm to a dataset obtained in an indoor test tank.

Context data is one of most important parts of every context-aware system. Context data is not only trigger of events but also result of these events. So, privacy of context is one of important issue of context-aware system. Established methods of privacy like RBAC are not efficient to context data because these methods cannot control context data itself. So, some methods add abstraction ontology to access control framework. Abstraction ontology control expose of context data. But, using ontology to control expose of context data also have some problems. One is reliability of abstracted value and the other is performance of context data. In this paper, we suggest abstraction based access control system which minimizes abstraction overhead. To do this, we classify context data newly first. Classification of context data is based on abstraction method. And then we propose abstraction method of context data. Few context data use abstraction ontology. But, many of context data do not use abstraction ontology and abstraction of these context data reduces abstraction cost.

Architectural elements are the components and details of buildings. Their unique set, combination, design, construction technique form the architectural style of buildings. Building facade classification by architectural styles is viewed as a task of classifying separate architectural structural elements. In the scope of building facade architectural style classification the current paper targets the problem of classification of Gothic and Baroque architectural elements called tracery, pediment and balustrade. Since certain gradient directions dominate on the shape of each architectural element, discrimination between dominating gradients means classification of architectural elements and thus architectural styles. We use local features to describe gradient directions. Our approach is based on clustering and learning of local features and yields a high classification rate.

In this work, we present a device for cell manipulation and separation using travelling wave dielectophoretic (twDEP) force. The device consists of microchamber and 16 parallel electrode array controlled by four-phase signal. The dielectrophoretic PDMS chamber and Cr/Au parallel electrode array were fabricated by standard microfabrication techniques. The driving signals for the twDEP system are produced by a specially designed four-phase signal generator. The signal generator can be operated in a fixed or ±90° phase shift mode with varying frequency, applied voltage and shift interval. In addition, the signal conditions can be store to and retrieved from a built-in database. The twDEP system was tested with polystyrene microspheres suspension in de-ionized water and red blood cells in D-mannitol solution. Cells responded to the electric field in various mechanisms depending on the applied signals conditions. The results showed that the twDEP force occurred when the applied signals were 10 V (50 kHz-700 kHz) and 7 V (30 kHz-1 MHz) for 4.5 μm and 10 μm microspheres respectively. The mixed solution containing equal amount of 4.5 and 10 μm microspheres were used for separation test. Under the signal conditions for 10 μm microspheres, the microspheres were moved under twDEP force while the smaller microspheres were attached to the electrodes. Therefore, the twDEP device can successfully manipulate and separate the microspheres of different sizes, and it can be further applied for cells selection.
