An algorithm for traversing voxels along a 3D line using only integer arithmetic is presented. Two kinds of subdivision, namely non-unit space subdivision and non-square space subdivision, could be used. A 2D algorithm is first developed to find out the pixels a line passes through. Then based on it, an algorithm for traversing voxels along a 3D line in uniformly divided voxel space is proposed. Up to 3 voxels may be processed in one step and no accumulated error is made. The discriminator used in this algorithm is well refined, so that few calculations are required and the algorithm is simple and compact in form. Its comparison with existing voxel traversal algorithms shows that the new algorithm is not only free from accumulated error but also is the fastest.

They are related to active appearance models, but instead of modelling the entire texture of an object they represent image texture by means of local descriptors. The approach has advantages with complex image data like anatomical structures that exhibit high texture variation with limited relevance for the recognition of the object location. A digital folk song search and retrieval system with a hand gesture based interface is presented. Tillarom is a comprehensive collection of original Hungarian folk songs recorded using different technologies such as phonographs and/or stereo DAT cassettes. This digital archive contains professional quality metadata records as well as MIDI recordings for presenting the different types of clustered folk songs. An AJAX based search and retrieval interface was developed that can be used together with optically recognized Kodály's hand signs to formulate queries through a web browser. The appearance based recognition of hand gestures utilizes contour analysis and SVM based classification. We evaluated the performance of the recognition of hand signs and investigated the main problems of their usage in our system. Copyright 2006 ACM.

In this paper we discuss landmark based absolute localization of tiny autonomous mobile robots in a known environment. Landmark features are naturally occurring as it is not allowed to modify the environment with special navigational aids. These features are sparse in our application domain and are frequently occluded by other robots. This makes simultaneous acquisition of two or more landmarks difficult. Therefore, we propose a system that requires a single landmark feature. The algorithm is based on range measurement of a single landmark from two arbitrary points whose displacement can be measured using dead-reckoning sensors. Range estimation is done with a stereo vision system. Simulation results show that the robot can localize itself if it can estimates range of the same landmark from two different position and if the displacement between the two position is known.

The proposed emulated digital implementation of the two-channel retina model was compared to the previously developed single channel model from three different points of view: processing speed, number of physical cells and accuracy.
