Lung adenocarcinoma is the most common type of lung cancer. Known risk variants explain only a small fraction of lung adenocarcinoma heritability. Here, we conducted a two-stage genome-wide association study of lung adenocarcinoma of East Asian ancestry (21,658 cases and 150,676 controls; 54.5% never-smokers) and identified 12 novel susceptibility variants, bringing the total number to 28 at 25 independent loci. Transcriptome-wide association analyses together with colocalization studies using a Taiwanese lung expression quantitative trait loci dataset (n = 115) identified novel candidate genes, including FADS1 at 11q12 and ELF5 at 11p13. In a multi-ancestry meta-analysis of East Asian and European studies, four loci were identified at 2p11, 4q32, 16q23, and 18q12. At the same time, most of our findings in East Asian populations showed no evidence of association in European populations. In our studies drawn from East Asian populations, a polygenic risk score based on the 25 loci had a stronger association in never-smokers vs. individuals with a history of smoking (P = 0.0058). These findings provide new insights into the etiology of lung adenocarcinoma in individuals from East Asian populations, which could be important in developing translational applications.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. Lithium-ion batteries for automotive use require not only downsizing but also compatibility between energy density and power density. To satisfy these requirements, a phenomenological understanding of the conditions occurring in a battery during operation is essential. Understanding the behavior of ion transport during charging and discharging is an especially key factor for optimal battery design. This paper presents the results of X-ray in-situ visualization and in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). X-ray analysis showed the ion concentration change at the electrodes and EIS revealed the resistance change. The results agreed well quantitatively and were validated by a numerical method. Background: High-resolution estimates of HIV burden across space and time provide an important tool for tracking and monitoring the progress of prevention and control efforts and assist with improving the precision and efficiency of targeting efforts. We aimed to assess HIV incidence and HIV mortality for all second-level administrative units across sub-Saharan Africa. Methods: In this modelling study, we developed a framework that used the geographically specific HIV prevalence data collected in seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care clinics to train a model that estimates HIV incidence and mortality among individuals aged 15–49 years. We used a model-based geostatistical framework to estimate HIV prevalence at the second administrative level in 44 countries in sub-Saharan Africa for 2000–18 and sought data on the number of individuals on antiretroviral therapy (ART) by second-level administrative unit. We then modified the Estimation and Projection Package (EPP) to use these HIV prevalence and treatment estimates to estimate HIV incidence and mortality by second-level administrative unit. Findings: The estimates suggest substantial variation in HIV incidence and mortality rates both between and within countries in sub-Saharan Africa, with 15 countries having a ten-times or greater difference in estimated HIV incidence between the second-level administrative units with the lowest and highest estimated incidence levels. Across all 44 countries in 2018, HIV incidence ranged from 2·8 (95% uncertainty interval 2·1–3·8) in Mauritania to 1585·9 (1369·4–1824·8) cases per 100 000 people in Lesotho and HIV mortality ranged from 0·8 (0·7–0·9) in Mauritania to 676·5 (513·6–888·0) deaths per 100 000 people in Lesotho. According to the analysis of the traditional multiport converter, a novel partly-isolated four-port converter topology is proposed. The proposed converter is combined by two boost converters and a bidirectional full-bridge DC/DC converter, which can realize bi-directional transfer of energy and isolated between ports, and it ensures the stability of photovoltaic power with a lithium battery energy storage system. Then the control strategies of proposed converter under different working modes are analyzed. Finally, the simulation of operating modes and the conversion between the modes are carried out to verify the feasibility of the new four-port converter.

There is increasing interest in the evaluation of wind turbine control capabilities for providing grid *** hardware in the loop(PHIL)simulation is an advanced method that can be used for studying the interaction of hardware with the power network,as the scaled-down actual wind turbine is connected with a simulated system through an *** consideration must be made in the design of the PHIL platform to ensure that the system is stable and yields accurate *** paper presents a method for stabilizing the PHIL interface and improving the accuracy of PHIL simulation in a real-time *** method factors in both the power and voltage scaling level,and a phase compensation *** uses the reactive power control capability of the wind turbine inverter to eliminate the phase shift imposed by the feedback current *** is accomplished with no negative impact on the dynamic behavior of the wind *** PHIL simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stability analysis method and phase compensation *** strength of the platform is demonstrated by extending the simulation method to wind turbine control validation.

In above paper, the figures were named incorrectly. The correctly named figures and explanations follow. Fig. 1. shows the magnetic flux density distribution of the motor. As shown in the figure, the magnetic flux densities are concentrated on the lip and bridge portions and are modified to show saturation. Fig. 2. is attached (b) to express the system more clearly. In the case of Fig. 4., the proposed algorithm is modified to more clearly represent and emphasize it. In Fig. 5, the longitudinal displacement part is added to graphically show how the information of the laser sensor is received in order to calculate the yaw angle. Fig. 6. shows the algorithm in more detail, making it easier to understand.
