An automatic system for detection of road signs plays a crucial role in determining edges, obstacles, and signs of the road. Understandably, drivers might not always pay enough attention to signs. The preprocessing and feature extraction of road signs are done to carry out this process. The feature extraction applies the option of Harris detector, which is commonly used for corners detection. The detected signs are then matched against a database by using the special similarity measure used for the identification of these signs and enable an improvement in the levels of safety on roads. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous Underwater Gliders (AUGs) are extensively developed vehicles capable of prolonged exploration and observation in complex marine environments. Control of the AUG is challenging due to its slow response system and its constraints. In this research, a linear model representation of AutoRegressive eXogenous input (ARX) will be constructed using input and output data from the AUG system, built Model Predictive Control (MPC), analyzed the performance, comparing with traditional Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID). The objective is to enhance setpoint tracking accuracy and minimize energy to extend exploration time while faced with constraints. Simulation results reveal MPC exhibits potential setpoint tracking, low overshoot as low as 0.6% up to 0.3m/s maximum depth rate, has relatively low input changes indicating good efficiency compared to PID. MPC approach effectively addresses slow response systems, managing momentum, and handling actuator constraints commonly encountered in AUG. © 2023 IEEE.

Ensemble learning integrates many learners to achieve better performance, however, it can increase the complexity dramatically. Redundant learners should be pruned to reduce ensemble complexity while allowing for increased accuracy. There are two common ways to achieve this, which include selecting the optimal training space and the optimal trained learners. This study contributes to reducing redundant learners by selecting the optimal training space using annealing-based optimization. The optimal training space was defined by 1) measuring the similarity between training spaces (clusters) and 2) searching for the best set of training spaces by minimizing the similarity between the selected training spaces. The proposed method was tested on 10 datasets from the UCI repository and compared to five state-of-The-Art random subspace methods. The results showed that the proposed method could reduce the size of the ensemble while significantly increasing its accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Forests and wildlife are essential parts of our biological ecosystem, and they have a tremendous impact on our everyday life. With the climate change arising and the temperatures of our lands landing on a higher scale with time, the changes alongside bring chaos in form of destruction of these forest lands. The potential danger has become inevitable at one point and has been prevalent on numerous occasions now. With the destruction caused by forest fires, the depletion of the resources is also a factor to be counted into. With the development of technology in the fields of UAV Navigation and Image processing, this paper proposes a system where we use an amalgam of these two fields and a new algorithm to improve the coordination between multiple drones and create a network of these drones that communicates the coordinates and intensity of the fire of the location and surround the spread area of fire and verifying the detection based on a scoring system. © 2022 IEEE.

In the field of healthcare, law, and education, Blockchain technology (BT) is emerging as a transformative force. Biometric methods have been widely used for privacy protection. Biometric recognition has unique and random characteristics, which can better protect people's privacy and security. In this paper, a biometric system based on plethysmography (PPG) signals using fuzzy min-max neural network are developed. The PPG signals have the ability of liveness detection compared with fingerprint recognition and face recognition. The system consists of three processes: signal preprocessing, feature extraction and model classification. Bone metastasis is one of the main cancer complications whose diagnosis is mainly based on bone scintigraphy. As an assistance for the diagnosis of bone metastasis, researches based on convolutional neural networks have achieved impressive performance. However, due to the absence of relevant dataset, most existing methods could only diagnose whether metastasis occurred without indicating the general location of its occurrence or make diagnoses of only few specific organs. Such models may lose the insights of regional information and deviate from clinical practice. To address this issue, we construct the first bone scintigraphy dataset where whole body images in the anterior view are segmented into 13 distinct body parts and all subsets of body parts are carefully annotated according to formal diagnoses. With comprehensively annotated dataset, we propose an automatic diagnosis framework via lightweight transformer-based network with early convolutions and spatial dimension reduction to make detailed diagnoses for all body parts. The results reveal that our overall diagnosis achieves higher recall, satisfying accuracy and with fewer parameters compared to popular models for medical image classification. Dataset and code would be made public upon acceptance. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently, bipedal robots that utilize electric rotary actuators have attracted much attention since they can walk on any kind of path or terrain and can jump or step over obstacles. In addition, bipedal robots are designed to pick up and put down various types of heavy objects for industrial applications. To achieve the specified functions, the electric rotary actuators, as the core driving unit of bipedal robots, need to possess characteristics of high power density and large output torque. This paper presents the design of an electric rotary actuator based on an outer rotor permanent magnet motor for bipedal robots. The proposed electric rotary actuator includes a 36-slot/42-pole permanent magnet motor, a 10:1 planetary gearbox, and an integrated gear shaft. The electromagnetic performances and overload capability of the proposed 36-slot/42-pole outer rotor permanent magnet motor are analyzed by the finite element method. Finally, a prototype of the proposed electric rotary actuator is tested by a customed high-torque testing bench. The experimental results are in good agreement with the finite element analysis results. © 2024 IEEE.

It is never easy to guarantee data security when processing on a distributed cloud platform. Data integrity and privacy are the two most crucial issues in any cloud-based data processing system. Various errors and security breaches during the processing and transfer of data might compromise data integrity and privacy. The criticality increases with the magnitude of the supplied data. Numerous studies have been conducted to find an integrated solution to these problems. Nevertheless, there is currently no workable approach to address any of these problems in a combinatorial manner in the literature. Consequently, to address these problems, this research effort presents a novel, lightweight, and integrated homomorphic encryption method. The proposed method raises degree of unpredictability throughout the encryption to sufficiently protect data privacy. Additionally, it has a special Method for error identification and correction to improve data integrity. The research outcomes justify its superiority over other similar existing techniques in the literature. © 2023 ACM.

System-level performance evaluation over satellite networks often requires a simulated or emulated environment for reproducibility and low cost. However, the existing tools may not meet the needs for scenarios such as the low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks. To address the problem, this letter proposes and implements a trace-driven emulation method based on Linux's eBPF technology. Building a Starlink traces collection system, we demonstrate that the method can effectively and efficiently emulate the connection conditions, and therefore provides a means for evaluating applications on local hosts. © 2019 IEEE.
