Single Domain Generalization in Vibration Damper Detection Using Frequency Domain Attention and Scale-Invariant Learning

Improving the generalization capability of vibration damper detection model for transmission lines is essential for its application in complex power scenarios. Variations in vibration damper types, and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) shooting distances lead to domain shift, which impacts detection performance. This paper proposes a single domain generalization (SDG) detection method for vibration dampers that integrates structural knowledge to guide the model in extracting domaininvariant features (DIF), combining frequency domain attention (FDA) and scale-invariant learning (SIL). Different types of vibration dampers exhibit combinatory structural invariance, while dampers of varying scales demonstrate aspect ratio invariance. First, a learnable weight matrix is applied to the amplitude spectrum after Fourier transformation, preserving low-frequency information while attenuating high-frequency components. This approach retains structural features and reduces morphological differences. Next, SIL is introduced to emphasize aspect ratios during bounding box regression, improving the model's capacity to handle scale variations and enhancing feature generalization. Experimental results demonstrate that without significantly increasing the number of parameters and model size, the proposed method achieves AP50 of 60.8% and 77.1% in the two target domains, respectively, representing increases of 3.3% and 4.0% over the original model, thus offering strong support for the practical application of intelligent detection models. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents an interactive motion control method based on reinforcement learning, designed to assist children with autism who have social motor impairments through a mirror game intervention. The virtual teacher uses the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm to optimize its actions, guiding the participant to follow a Lissajous trajectory. To ensure safety, a motion-correction mechanism was developed, which automatically adjusts actions when the predicted trajectory surpasses predefined safety boundaries. The reward function considers both the distance between the virtual teacher and the target trajectory, as well as the distance between the virtual teacher and the participant, with dynamic adjustments applied by the motion-correction mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the virtual teacher effectively guides the participant towards the target trajectory while adhering to safety constraints. © 2025 IEEE.

Climate downscaling is crucial for detailed small-scale analysis and for acquiring climate data in regions without weather stations. Operator learning has proven potential for this task. However, several challenges remain in operator learning, such as multimodal fusion, spatiotemporal fusion and input state and query adaptation. To address these challenges, we propose a Spatiotemporal Multimodal Fusion Operator with a State-Query Coupled Kernel (SMCK). This framework includes a latent space fusion encoder that encodes climate variables using position-wise multihead attention for multimodal fusion and integrates historical information to generate robust and precise representation. Additionally, we introduce a state-query coupled kernel that combines radial basis functions and discrete fourier encoding to enhance query location representation, while also adapting to the state to obtain the coupled kernel. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-ofthe-art performance and provides strong support for climate downscaling and the planning of climate-related strategies. © 2025 IEEE.

High Efficiency Wiener Filter-based Point Cloud Quality Enhancement for MPEG G-PCC

Point clouds, which directly record the geometry and attributes of scenes or objects by a large number of points, are widely used in various applications such as virtual reality and immersive communication. However, due to the huge data volume and unstructured geometry, efficient compression of point clouds is very crucial. The Moving Picture Expert Group is establishing a geometry-based point cloud compression (G-PCC) standard for both static and dynamic point clouds in recent years. Although lossy compression of G-PCC can achieve a very high compression ratio, the reconstruction quality is relatively low, especially at low bitrates. To mitigate this problem, we propose a high efficiency Wiener filter that can be integrated into the encoder and decoder pipeline of G-PCC to improve the reconstruction quality as well as the rate-distortion performance for dynamic point clouds. Specifically, we first propose a basic Wiener filter, and then improve it by introducing coefficients inheritance and variance-based point classification for the Luma component. Besides, to reduce the complexity of the nearest neighbor search during the application of the Wiener filter, we also propose a Morton code-based fast nearest neighbor search algorithm for efficient calculation of filter coefficients. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve average Bjøntegaard delta rates of -6.1%, -7.3%, and -8.0% for Luma, Chroma Cb, and Chroma Cr components, respectively, under the condition of lossless-geometry-lossy-attributes configuration compared to the latest G-PCC encoding platform (i.e., geometry-based solid content test model version 7.0 release candidate 2) by consuming affordable computational complexity. © 2025 IEEE. FusionGCNN: An IoT-Based Novel Spatiotemporal Graph Convolutional Network for ECG Arrhythmia Detection

Electrocardiogram (ECG) arrhythmia identification is critical for early cardiovascular disease diagnosis and monitoring in Internet of Things (IoT) industry. Still, it is difficult due to complicated waveforms, individual variability, and the requirement for real-time analysis on resource-limited equipment. Traditional approaches sometimes fail to detect complicated spatial-temporal correlations in ECG data, limiting their efficiency in identifying arrhythmias. Furthermore, deploying these models in tinyML contexts, such as edge and IoT devices limited by large computational and memory needs, emphasizes the importance of lightweight, accurate models for real-time applications. Our suggested solution consists of three main components: SigNet, DualGCNN, and FusionGCNN. SigNet uses Separable Convolution layers to effectively extract local spatial features, making it ideal for IoT-based healthcare deployment. DualGCNN combines dual Graph Convolutional layers with spatial attention, allowing the model to capture local and global dependencies for better classification of arrhythmia. FusionGCNN combines the capabilities of GCN and SigNet with an effective feature fusion technique to improve feature representation while remaining computationally economical. Ablation tests show that FusionGCNN improves performance considerably, with greater accuracy (0.9641), lower training error (0.0004), and a higher F1 Score (0.9645) across a variety of ECG patterns. FusionGCNN, with its low training error, high stability, and computational economy, is well-suited to tinyML requirements, allowing implementation on edge and IoT devices for scalable, real-time ECG monitoring in healthcare. © 2014 IEEE.

Graph neural network (GNN) has gained increasing popularity in recent years owing to its capability and flexibility in modeling complex graph structure data. Among all graph learning methods, hypergraph learning is a technique for exploring the implicit higher-order correlations when training the embedding space of the graph. In this paper, we propose a hypergraph learning framework named Learning from Heterogeneity (LFH) that is capable of dynamic hyperedge construction and attentive embedding update utilizing the heterogeneity attributes of the graph. Specifically, in our framework, the high-quality features are first generated by the pairwise fusion strategy that utilizes explicit graph structure information when generating initial node embedding. Afterwards, a hypergraph is constructed through the dynamic grouping of implicit hyperedges, followed by the type-specific hypergraph learning process. To evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed framework, we conduct comprehensive experiments on several popular datasets with twelve state-of-the- art models on both node classification and link prediction tasks, which fall into categories of homogeneous pairwise graph learning, heterogeneous pairwise graph learning, and hypergraph learning. The experiment results demonstrate a significant performance gain (an average of 12.9% in node classification and 12.8% in link prediction) compared with recent state-of-the-art methods. © 2020 IEEE.

Safe Multi-Robotic Arm Interaction via 3D Convex Shapes

Inter-robot collisions pose a significant safety risk when multiple robotic arms operate in close proximity. We present an online collision avoidance methodology leveraging 3D convex shape-based High-Order control Barrier Functions (HOCBFs) to address this issue. While prior works focused on using control Barrier Functions (CBFs) for human–robotic arm and single-arm collision avoidance, we explore the problem of collision avoidance between multiple robotic arms operating in a shared space. In our methodology, we utilize the proposed HOCBFs as centralized and decentralized safety filters. These safety filters are compatible with any nominal controller and ensure safety without significantly restricting the robots’ workspace. A key challenge in implementing these filters is the computational overhead caused by the large number of safety constraints and the computation of a Hessian matrix per constraint. We address this challenge by employing numerical differentiation methods to approximate computationally intensive terms. Physical Intrusion Attack Detection in Fieldbus Network With Passive Fail-Safe Biasing

Fieldbus is widely used for real-time distributed control in Industrial control Systems (ICSs) due to its simplicity and stability. The real-world fieldbus network contains hundreds of interconnected devices, presenting a widespread network layout. Attackers can attach external intrusion devices to these communication lines to launch various attacks. In this paper, we model the fieldbus network’s channel fingerprint based on the signal’s amplitude and propose a detection method to identify potential attackers (silent intrusion devices that are eavesdropping) via channel fingerprint differences. Leveraging the passive fail-safe biasing voltage in the fieldbus network such as RS485, we can still detect the intrusion device when the fieldbus is idle (i.e., no devices are transmitting commands), which can significantly reduce the detection delay with lower sampling costs. Moreover, our method can adapt to environmental changes with little computational overhead by generating dynamic thresholds. Using a monitoring unit with stored channel fingerprints, our method can be easily deployed in fieldbus networks without occupying communication resources. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method have been demonstrated via extensive experiments on two real-world scenarios and one simulation scenario, where we can achieve 100% accuracy and 0% false alarm rates against various intrusion devices. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

This paper investigates the problems of invariant set analysis and control synthesis for multi-equilibrium switched systems under control constraints. A control strategy based on the invariant set method is proposed, accompanied by criteria formulated as linear matrix inequalities, ensuring that the state remains within the mode-dependent invariant sets. Furthermore, considering the control constraints in practical scenarios, a multi-equilibrium switched controller with control constraints (MESCC controller) is designed. Compared to existing works, the proposed method incorporates mode-dependent dwell time conditions and mode-dependent invariant sets, thereby offering enhanced design flexibility. An example of an aero-engine control system is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of the theoretical results.

Federated Learning (FL) has gained considerable attention for collaborative training in big data analysis, particularly in terms of privacy and communication constraints. Despite its promising advantages, FL faces the challenge of dealing with imbalanced label distribution on edge devices, which complicates the learning task. In literature, numerous studies have attempted to tackle this issue by introducing additional hyperparameters, which can complicate and prolong the process of model training and tuning. This complexity may potentially lead to overfitting and limited performance on new datasets. In this paper, we present a new Federated Learning framework called FedVC, which introduces virtual clients to minimize hyperparameter reliance. FedVC aims to bridge the gap between balanced and imbalanced label distribution. Compared with traditional federated learning frameworks, the proposed FedVC model designs a dynamically balanced dataset by utilizing virtual clients, which is proposed for the first time in this work. These virtual clients determine which part of the data should be used in one single training round and manage backpropagation timing for local real clients. The balanced dataset promotes greater stability in local models, thereby enhancing the overall stability of the training process. The experimental results show that FedVC outperforms classical FedAvg and the compared baseline methods for the data with imbalanced label distribution. Especially, FedVC exhibits more stable and accurate results than alternative approaches in highly heterogeneous settings.
