Nitrogen-doped carbon dots-modified Prussian blue with sandwichlike structure as a high-performance electrochromic material

Prussian blue(PB),as a promising inorganic electrochromic material(ECM),has been widely used in smart windows,displays,sensors,***,there are still many challenges for PB to achieve high electrochromic ***,we synthesized nitrogen-doped carbon dots-modified PB film(defined as PB@N-CDs)with a sandwich-like structure by a simple stepwise electrodeposition *** carbon dots show an obvious advantage in ultrafast electron transfer ability,which can reduce charge loss during the transfer process,improve the electrochemical activity on both sides of PB,and thus facilitate a rapid electrochromic ***,the surface of nitrogen-doped carbon dots contains multiple organic functional groups,which widen the movement path of K+ions under electrostatic ***,the PB@N-CDs film exhibits a short bleaching/coloring time(0.5/0.9 s)and a superior optical modulation range(78.6%).Particularly,the coloring efficiency has been significantly improved to 137.71 cm^(2)/C(at 700 nm).All of these results open up new avenues for developing highperformance PB-based ECMs and promoting their applications in corresponding electrochromic devices(ECDs)and smart windows.

The use of high-permittivity(high-k) thin films as gate dielectrics is essential in the development of lowpower electronics,In this work,rare-earth thulium oxide(Tm_(2)O_(3)) thin films were prepared by a facile solution process and annealed at various temperatures from 400 to 700℃.The evolution of the physical and dielectric properties of Tm_(2)O_(3) thin film with annealing temperature was *** is demonstrated that the Tm_(2)O_(3) thin film annealed at 600℃ exhibits the optimal performance,including a low leakage current of 3×10^(-10) A/cm^(2),a large areal capacitance of 250 nF/cm^(2) at 100 Hz,and a high permittivity value of *** Tm_(2)O_(3) thin film as a gate insulator was integrated into the thin film transistor(TFT) employing In_(2)O_(3)-based semiconducting *** In_(2)O_(3) TFT with 600℃-annealed Tm_(2)O_(3) dielectric exhibits the superior perfo rmance,with a high I_(on)/I_(off) of 1.65×10^(7),a small subthre shold swing(SS) value of 0.2 V/dec,a V_(TH) of+1.8 V,and a mobility of 1.68 cm^(2)/(V·s).Furthermore,an inverter constructed by connecting the TFT with a resistor exhibits full-swing *** work provides a facile and appealing method for preparing the high-k Tm_(2)O_(3) thin films as alternative gate dielectrics with the potential for use in low-power electronics and logic circuit applications.

Advanced structural materials are often required to exhibit a combination of light weight,high strength and superior *** tic strategies hold promise for achieving these seemingly conflicting mechanical properties ***,current biomimetic structural materials lack active fire-warning and passive flame-retardant functionalities,which poses risks for their application in fire-prone ***,we present a nacre-mimetic alumina-cyanate resin composite（NAC） that has a combination of mechanical robustness with thermochromic and flame-retardant *** controlled atomic doping,chromium atoms are incorporated into alumina microplatelets,forming solid-solution assembly units that exhibit reversible thermochromism and a solid-solution-strengthening *** bioinspired 'brick-and-mortar' structure endows the NAC with high strength（～290.1 MPa） and fracture toughness(～11.1 MPa m1/2).Coupled with a machine-learning-based image-recognition system,the NAC leverages its thermochromic properties to deliver a rapid fire warning within 9 s at 250℃,which is significantly faster than traditional electronic fire *** layered structure effectively impedes oxygen flow,achieving an oxygen-limiting index of 50%,and thus ensuring excellent flame-retardant *** design delays the combustion peak and reduces the heat-release value,thereby enhancing the flame-retardant *** work demonstrates the effective integration of a structural and functional design for active early fire warning and passive flame retardancy,paving the way for structural materials in advanced fire-warning systems in challenging environments.

CNN-based segmentation frameworks for structural component and earthquake damage determinations using UAV images

Buildings undergo various kinds of structural damage during earthquakes,and damage detection and functional assessment of these structures in the aftermath of the events have been challenging *** these circumstances,computer vision techniques offer a promising solution by automating the inspection *** study presents an effective methodology for automatic structural components and damage detection using unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)images of damaged *** types of neural network architectures are considered for appropriate feature extractions in different task *** feature pyramid network(FPN)is employed for crack,spall,rebar,and component damage segmentation,while the UNet++network is utilized for the damage *** network training and validation,a total of 3805 original images of size 1920×1080 pixels are processed by the proposed method and reduced the image *** the FPN,the achieved highest intersection over unions(IoUs)were 0.59,0.93,0.42,and 0.99 for crack,spall,rebar,and components,*** predicted labels were found in close agreement with the ***,the UNet++recognized the semantic information and damage state with an IoU of *** demonstrated the applicability of the proposed method for automated post-earthquake building inspection process accurately without information loss from the original images.

Metallised film capacitors(MFCs)are renowned for their unique self-healing(SH)properties,which bestow them with exceptional reliability and stability in the face of intense electric fields,high voltages,and pulse power ***,the exploration of SH characteristics concerning single-layer dielectric film remains insufficient for advancing MFC reliability *** establish the theoretical correlation of SH characteristics from the device to the film in the MFCs,this work developed a simulation model to analyse the SH dynamic behaviour in the *** effects of coupling capacitors,arc resistance and insulation resistance on the macroscopic characteristics(voltage drop and pulse current)are focused during the SH process in *** results indicate that SH is primarily associated with the voltage drop duration rather than the sampling ***,the SH process in MFC is characterised as an abrupt decrease in voltage to its minimum *** refinement enhances the SH energy dissipation model of *** quantified relationship between the macroscopic characteristics and microstructure evolution(polypropylene decomposition and aluminium electrode vaporisation)is established in MFCs under diverse SH energy *** SH energy and duration increase,the proportion of energy attributed to polypropylene decomposition increases,resulting in multi-layer ablation and adhesion within the metallised film and a pronounced deterioration in MFC electrical *** examination of macro-micro perspectives sheds new light on the intricate mechanisms governing the SH behaviour in MFCs,offering valuable insights for the advancement of their design,reliability evaluation,and performance optimisation in diverse electrical applications.

CO_(2)emission evaluation and cost analysis of oxygen blast furnace process with sintering flue gas injection

In order to achieve ultra-low emissions of SO_(2)and NO_(x),the oxygen blast furnace with sintering flue gas injection is presented as a promising novel *** CO_(2)emission was examined,and a cost analysis of the process was *** results show that in the cases when the top gas is not circulated(Cases 1–3),and the volume of injected sintering flue gas per ton of hot metal is below about 1250 m^(3),the total CO_(2)emissions decrease first and then increase as the oxygen content of the blast *** the volume of injected sintering flue gas per ton of hot metal exceeds approximately 1250 m^(3),the total CO_(2)emissions gradually *** the recirculating top gas and the vacuum pressure swing adsorption are considered,the benefits of recovered gas can make the ironmaking cost close to or even lower than that of the ordinary blast ***,the implementation of this approach leads to a substantial reduction in total CO_(2)emissions,with reductions of 69.13%(Case 4),70.60%(Case 5),and 71.07%(Case 6),*** integrating previous research and current findings,the reasonable oxygen blast furnace with sintering flue gas injection can not only realize desulfurization and denitrification,but also achieve the goal of reducing CO_(2)emissions and ironmaking cost.

An enhanced framework for smart automated evaluations of answer scripts using NLP and deep learning methods

The manual process of evaluating answer scripts is strenuous. Evaluators use the answer key to assess the answers in the answer scripts. Advancements in technology and the introduction of new learning paradigms need automation of the evaluation process. This work aims to develop an enhanced novel hybrid framework that can evaluate answer scripts and automatically assign marks for different type of questions based on keywords, grammar, symbols, special keywords, and the given factors. First, the proposed system uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to convert image answer scripts into an editable text format. Second, the sentence transformers, the Natural Language Processing (NLP) technique flips the answer script and answers key texts into word embedding vectors. To find similarity measures, these vectors are matched using BERT encoding, spearmanś rank-order correlation, and fuzzy search. At last, the proposed model is trained using Deep Columnar Convolutional Neural Network (DCCNN) in the third step with MINST and Kaggle handwritten mathematical symbols and tested with the segmented mathematical equations to find the similarity. The performance of proposed model is measured using precision, recall, accuracy, and F1-score, and its gives highest accuracy of 93% and 95% when compared to the existing methodologies. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper presents a distributed scheme with limited communications, aiming to achieve cooperative motion control for multiple omnidirectional mobile manipulators(MOMMs).The proposed scheme extends the existing single-agent motion control to cater to scenarios involving the cooperative operation of MOMMs. Specifically, squeeze-free cooperative load transportation is achieved for the end-effectors of MOMMs by incorporating cooperative repetitive motion planning(CRMP), while guiding each individual to desired poses. Then, the distributed scheme is formulated as a time-varying quadratic programming(QP) and solved online utilizing a noise-tolerant zeroing neural network(NTZNN). Theoretical analysis shows that the NTZNN model converges globally to the optimal solution of QP in the presence of noise. Finally, the effectiveness of the control design is demonstrated by numerical simulations and physical platform experiments.

Van der Waals epitaxial growth of single-crystal molecular film

Epitaxy is the cornerstone of semiconductor technology, enabling the fabrication of single-crystal *** advancements in van der Waals（vd W） epitaxy have opened new avenues for producing wafer-scale single-crystal 2D atomic crystals. However, when it comes to molecular crystals, the overall weak vd W force means that it is a significant challenge for small molecules to form a well-ordered structure during *** we demonstrate that the vd W epitaxy of Sb2O3molecular crystal, where the whole growth process is governed by vd W interactions, can be precisely controlled. The nucleation is deterministically modulated by epilayer–substrate interactions and unidirectional nuclei are realized through designing the lattice and symmetry matching between epilayer and substrate. Moreover, the growth and coalescence of nuclei as well as the layer-by-layer growth mode are kinetically realized via tackling the Schwoebel-Ehrlich barrier. Such precise control of vd W epitaxy enables the growth of single-crystal Sb2O3molecular film with desirable thickness. Using the ultrathin highly oriented Sb2O3film as a gate dielectric, we fabricated MoS2-based field-effect transistors that exhibit superior device performance. The results substantiate the viability of precisely managing molecule alignment in vd W epitaxy, paving the way for large-scale synthesis of single-crystal 2D molecular crystals.
