Dynamic scheduling algorithm for real-time multiprocessor systems based on grouping and properly choosing policies

Dynamic scheduling algorithms for real-time multiprocessor are important components of real-time systems. In this paper, a new algorithm, named Group-Proper (GP), is presented based on analysis of the shortcomings of myopic algorithm and thrift algorithm. GP algorithm includes two policies: grouping policy and properly choosing policy (PCP). Grouping policy is aimed to increase the utilization of resources. PCP is aimed to enlarge the utilization of CPU. On the condition of ensuring not missing the deadlines of tasks with smaller heuristic value, grouping policy prior chooses the task accessing resources in the shared mode to extend. If a task needn't access resources or the earliest available times of resources required by it are earlier than that of the CPU, PCP assigns the task to the CPU with the earliest available time. Otherwise, PCP assigns the task to the CPU with the closest available times to that of the resources required by it. Simulation results show that acceptance ratio of GP algorithm is higher than that of myopic and thrift.

As a new stage in the development of the cloud computing paradigm, serverless computing has the high-level abstraction characteristic of shielding underlying details. This makes it extremely challenging for users to choose a suitable serverless platform. To address this, targeting the jointcloud computing scenario of heterogeneous serverless platforms across multiple clouds, this paper presents a jointcloud collaborative mechanism called FCloudless with cross-cloud detection of the full lifecycle performance of serverless platforms. Based on the benchmark metrics set that probe performance critical stages of the full lifecycle, this paper proposes a performance optimization algorithm based on detected performance data that takes into account all key stages that affect the performance during the lifecycle of a function and predicts the overall performance by combining the scores of local stages and dynamic weights. We evaluate FCloudless on AWS, AliYun, and Azure. The experimental results show that FCloudless can detect the underlying performance of serverless platforms hidden in the black box and its optimization algorithm can select the optimal scheduling strategy for various applications in a jointcloud environment. FCloudless reduces the runtime by 23.3% and 24.7% for cold and warm invocations respectively under cost constraints.

Transformer, as one of the most advanced neural network models in Natural Language processing (NLP), exhibits diverse applications in the field of anomaly detection. To inspire research on Transformer-based anomaly detection, this review offers a fresh perspective on the concept of anomaly detection. We explore the current challenges of anomaly detection and provide detailed insights into the operating principles of Transformer and its variants in anomaly detection tasks. Additionally, we delineate various application scenarios for Transformer-based anomaly detection models and discuss the datasets and evaluation metrics employed. Furthermore, this review highlights the key challenges in Transformer-based anomaly detection research and conducts a comprehensive analysis of future research trends in this domain. The review includes an extensive compilation of over 100 core references related to Transformer-based anomaly detection. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive review that focuses on the research related to Transformer in the context of anomaly detection. Webshell, as the"culprit" behind numerous network attacks, is one of the research hotspots in the field of cybersecurity. However, the complexity, stealthiness, and confusing nature of webshells pose significant challenges to the corresponding detection schemes. With the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, researchers have started to apply different intelligent algorithms and neural network architectures to the task of webshell detection. However, the related research still lacks a systematic and standardized methodological process, which is confusing and redundant. Therefore, following the development timeline, we carefully summarize the progress of relevant research in this field, dividing it into three stages: Start Stage, Initial Development Stage, and In-depth Development Stage. We further elaborate on the main characteristics and core algorithms of each stage. In addition, we analyze the pain points and challenges that still exist in this field and predict the future development trend of this field from our point of view. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first review that details the research related to AI-based webshell detection. It is also hoped that this paper can provide detailed technical information for more researchers interested in AI-based webshell detection tasks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we present a robot middleware technology named robot software communications architecture (RSCA) for its use in networked home service robots. The RSCA provides a standard operating environment for the robot applications together with a framework that expedites the development of such applications. The operating environment is comprised of a real-time operating system, a communication middleware, and a deployment middleware. Particularly, the deployment middleware supports the reconfiguration of component-based robot applications including installation, creation, start, stop, tear-down, and un-installation. In designing RSCA, we have adopted a middleware called SCA from the software defined radio domain and extend it since the original SCA lacks the real-time guarantees and appropriate event services. We have fully implemented RSCA and performed measurements to quantify its run-time performance. Our implementation clearly shows the viability of RSCA

Detection of regions with the least impact on true and fake image classification through reinforcement learning

With the development of artificial intelligence [1-3], convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have made significant progress in image generation and manipulation. The generated images using facial image synthesis methods, e.g., Faceswap [4], Deepfakes [5], Face2face [6], NeuralTextures [7], are very realistic and even difficult to distinguish by human eyes. It poses serious challenges to social and personal security. There are many methods that can detect synthetic facial images with an accuracy rate of over 99%. But the synthetic facial image classification model can only give a true or fake result, and it is impossible to know which part is the discordant area. Therefore, we propose and experimentally verify a method that using reinforcement learning to select the region in the image that has the least impact on the classification model.

Two layered P2P model for semantic service discovery

In open Internet environment, it is inevitable that multiple ontologies coexist. Centralized service discovery mechanism becomes the bottleneck of SOC (service oriented computing), which results in poor scalability of system. Aiming at solving these problems, a two layered P2P based model for semantic service discovery is proposed in this paper. The model is based on ontology community and integrates iVCE (Internet-based virtual computing environment) core concepts into a P2P model. Based on this model, a service discovery algorithm composed of two stages and three steps is proposed. It matches services across communities as well as within community. Within a community, algorithm locates registers holding service information with a high probability of satisfying a request firstly. Then it captures semantic matching between service advertisements and service requests by logical reasoning. Service discovery across communities occurs according to some policies. The model is suitable for opening environment with coexistent multiple ontologies. Experimental results show that given an appropriate setting, the model can make a tradeoff between recall and responding time. In addition, the model will release the mean load of registers efficiently while holding recall.

Scalable unbiased sampling method based on multi-peer adaptive random walk

To deal with the scalable and fast unbiased sampling problems in unstructured P2P systems, a sampling method based on multi-peer adaptive random walk (SMARW) is proposed. In the method, based on the multi-peer random walk process, a set of provisional peers are selected as agents which start the sampling processes, by which the sampling process is speeded up with receiving a set of tunable number samples each time;Meanwhile, after receiving new samples earlier agents are replaced with these new samples which repeat the sampling process. With this simple replacement, it can be guaranteed with high probability that the system can reach the optimal load balance;furthermore, SMARW adopts an adaptive distributed random walk adjustment process to increase the convergence rate of the sampling process. A detailed theorical analysis and performance evaluation confirm that SMARW has a high level of unbiased sampling and near-optimal load balancing capability. © by Institute of Software, the Chinese Academy of sciences. MixedCache: Enabling Flow Directed Rule-Caching Scheme based on Heterogeneous Cache for OpenFlow

OpenFlow switches in SDN use Multiple Flow Tables (MFTs) for fine-grained flow control. Commodity switches integrate hardware storage resources such as SRAM and TCAM to store flow tables to achieve high-speed lookups. Many increased flow tables are rapidly exhausting these hardware storage resources, which makes the switches have to balance high-speed search and massive storage. The rule-caching scheme is a popular method to solve this problem, which caches the most commonly used rules into hardware storage resources. The existing rule-caching schemes are based on single hardware storage resources, and they cannot flexibly adjust the caching strategy according to the traffic characteristics. Simultaneously, the deployed commodity switches face the problem of difficulty in changing the size of SRAM and TCAM. This paper innovatively proposes the MixedCache scheme, which makes full use of the hardware storage resources in the switch according to the skewed characteristics of network traffic. MixedCache stores the large flows in SRAM by exact match and stores the small flows in the TCAM by wildcard match. MixedCache does not need to change the size of the deployed switch hardware storage resources, but makes full use of existing resources. Compared with the rule-caching scheme based on the exact match, the cache hit rate can increase by up to 15.61%. Compared with the rule-caching scheme based on the wildcard match, the cache hit rate can increase by up to 29.69%.

In smart grid, privacy implications to individuals and their family is an important issue, due to the fine-grained usage data collection. Wireless communications are considered by many utility companies to obtain information. Network coding is exploited in smart grids, to enhance network performance in terms of throughput, delay, robustness, and energy consumption. However, Network Coding introduces new challenge for privacy preserving due to the encoding of packet in forwarder nodes. We propose a distributed privacy preserving scheme for network coding in smart grid, which considers the converged flows character of smart grid and exploits a homomorphic encryption function to decrease the complex in forwarder node. The message content of packet is encrypted and the tag of packet is encrypted by homomorphic encryption function. Then the forwarder node linear random codes the encrypted message contents and directly processes the tags cryptotext based on the homomorphism feature. It offers message content confidentiality privacy preserving feature, which can efficiently thwart traffic analysis. Extensive security analysis and performance evaluations demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the proposed scheme. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.
