Storing files at the network edge has become a new paradigm of storage systems, which is promising to mitigate network congestion and reduce file retrieval latency. However, the traditional file storage scheme cannot effectively meet the requirements of rapid indexing and load balance when applied directly to the edge. Moreover, due to the dynamic nature of the edge environment where edge servers can join or leave at will, it is necessary for the storage scheme to adjust with minimal disruption. In this paper, we propose EdgeAnchor, a novel edge storage strategy that is composed of the two-layer hash mappings. The first layer, file-to-bucket mapping, adopts the pseudo-deletion algorithm to deal with the variations in file size, while the second layer utilizes the multiple bucket-to-server mapping to adapt to the heterogeneity in the servers' storage capacities. Furthermore, EdgeAnchor constructs a list of deleted or added working sets for each bucket and creates a dictionary for the mappings between buckets and edge servers. In the manner, EdgeAnchor ensures a rapid file index and balances server load at the dynamic network edge. We also attach the mathematical analyses to EdgeAnchor, which theoretically proves its logarithmic complexity of hash operations and memory accesses. The experiments conducted on real-world datasets demonstrate that EdgeAnchor achieves the file index throughput twice as high as that of Consistent Hashing, under the constraints of load balance. Additionally, it ensures a low and stable data migration volume, when adding or removing edge servers consecutively. © 2023 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) is a key technology extensively applied in many fields, such as transportation, health-care and environment monitoring. Despite rapid development, the exponentially increasing data emanating from WSN is not efficiently stored and used. Besides, the data from multiple different types and locations of WSN needs to be well analyzed, fused and supplied to various types of clients, such as PC, workstation and smart phone. The emerging cloud computing technology provides scalable data process and storage power and some types of connectable services, which can helpfully utilize sensor data from WSN. In this paper, we propose an integration framework of cloud computing with WSN, in which sensor data is transmitted from WSN to cloud, and processed and stored in cloud, then mined and analyzed so as to be supplied to various clients. By applying virtualization and cloud storage technology, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) of cloud service model, the framework can fully process and store mass sensor data from multiple types of WSN. Besides, it efficiently mines and analyzes sensor data, based on which the data applications are well supplied to various types of clients in form of services. © 2013 Springer science+Business Media.

Context situation, which means a snapshot of the status of the real world, is formed by integrating a large amount of contexts collected from various resources. How to get the context situation and use the situation to provide better services is a challenging issue. In this paper, we focused on this challenge on the basis of the mobile cloud computing architecture. An abstract model is proposed in this paper to uniformly collect the context and send them to cloud. A rule-based large-scale context aggregation algorithm is also proposed which utilizes the MapReduce computing paradigm. Finally, a large-scale context management framework based on the abstract model and the context aggregation algorithm is proposed, and a real-time traffic demo is implemented to verify the validity of the framework. © 2012 IEEE.

Emerging blockchain accounting mechanism allow mutually distributed parties to transport trusted information and ensure the correctness of data. Every blockchain node stores the complete block locally. Although this measure improves security, it causes huge storage overhead. We present Ladder, a multi-level low-overhead storage model for blockchain, which can greatly reduce the storage overhead of nodes while ensuring that the blockchain cannot be tampered easily and the block information is complete. Ladder distinguishes the retrieved frequency and importance of different blocks by value-density, dividing them into Hot-Blocks, Warm-Blocks and Cold-Blocks adopting different storage strategies respectively. Through experimental verification of time and space cost of different storage strategies, Ladder can greatly reduce the local storage overhead of nodes. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In the Internet of Everything (IoE), due to its issues of complexity and heterogeneity, message delay cannot be guaranteed, and it is not enough to leverage a centralized model for data collaboration. By leveraging the features of blockchain and asynchronous consensus algorithms, a new trust collaboration model can be established in an untrusted environment. Besides, the scalability issue of blockchain poses a challenge to data asynchronous collaboration. In this paper, we propose Asycome, a JointCloud data asynchronous collaboration mechanism based on Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). This mechanism introduces the new Gossip about gossip protocol, driven by message-transmitting events, to keep data synchronized in an asynchronous environment. Through two stages of voting and committing. Transactions on the same time series do not need to reach the final confirmed state before proceeding to the next transaction processing. Over time, all transactions are connected to the DAG, ensuring that the consensus is finally reached. We evaluated the performance of the mechanism with experiments on throughput and latency. And the feasibility of Asycome is analyzed from the liveness and security. The results show that higher throughput, lower latency, and Asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance (ABFT) characteristics can meet the technical requirements of complex and asynchronous data collaboration of the IoE to some extent. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The China dual-functional lithium–lead test blanket module(DFLL-TBM) is a liquid Li Pb blanket concept developed by the Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety technology of the Chinese Academy of sciences for testing in ITER to validate relevant tritium breeding and shielding technologies. In this study, neutronic calculations of DFLL-TBM were carried out using a massively parallel three-dimensional transport code, Hydra, with the Fusion Evaluated Nuclear Data Library/MG. Hydra was developed by the Nuclear Engineering Computational Physics Lab based on the discrete ordinates method and has been devoted to neutronic analysis and shielding evaluation for nuclear facilities. An in-house Monte Carlo code(MCX) was employed to verify the discretized calculation model used by Hydra for the DFLL-TBM calculations. The results showed two key aspects:(1) In most material zones,Hydra solutions are in good agreement with the reference MCX results within 1%, and the maximal relative difference of the neutron flux is merely 3%, demonstrating the correctness of the calculation model;(2) while the current DFLL-TBM design meets the operation shielding requirement of ITER for 4 years, it does not satisfy the tritium self-sufficiency requirement. Compared to the two-step approach, Hydra produces higher accuracies as it does not rely on the homogenization technique during the calculation process. The parallel efficiency tests of Hydra using the DFLL-TBM model also showed that this code maintains a high parallel efficiency on O(100) processors and, as a result, is able to significantly improve computing performance through parallelization. Parameter studies have been carried out by varying the thickness of the beryllium armor layer and the tritium breeding zone to understand the influence of the beryllium layer and breeding zone thickness on tritium breeding performance. This establishes a foundation for further improvement in the tritium production performance of DFLL-TBM.

Sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV) is an essential kernel in sparse linear algebra and has been studied extensively on all modern processor and accelerator architectures. Compressed Sparse Row (CSR) is a frequently used format for sparse matrices storage. However, CSR-based SpMV has poor performance on processors with vector units. In order to take full advantage of SIMD acceleration technology in SpMV, we proposed a new matrix storage format called CSR-SIMD. The new storage format compresses the non-zero elements into many variable-length data fragments with consecutive memory access addresses. Thus, the data locality of sparse matrix A and dense vector x expands and the floating-point operations for each fragment can be completely calculated by vectorized implementation on wide SIMD units. Our experimental results indicate that CSR-SIMD has better storage efficiency and low-overhead for format conversion. Besides, the new format achieves high scalability on wide SIMD units. In comparison with the CSR-based and BCSR-based SpMV, CSR-SIMD obtains better performance on FT1500A, Intel Xeon, and Intel Xeon Phi. © 2018 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

With the social networks getting increasingly larger, fast community detection algorithms like the label propagation algorithm, are attracting more attention. But the label propagation algorithm deals vertices with no proper weight, which leads to the loss in the performance. We propose the connection factor of the vertex to measure its influence on the local connectivity. The connection factor can reveal the topological structure feature, and we propose a unified weight to modify the original label propagation algorithm. Experiments show that our Unified Weighted LPA has an average performance promotion from 5% to 10 %, in the best case more than 30%. © Springer International Publishing AG 2016.

The phenomenon of information dissemination in social networks is widespread, and Social Network Information Cascade Analysis (SNICA) aims to acquire valuable knowledge in the process of information dissemination in social networks. As the number, volume, and resolution of social network data increase rapidly, traditional social network data analysis methods, especially the analysis method of social network graph (SNG) data becoming overwhelmed in SNICA. Recently, deep learning models have changed this situation, and it has achieved success in SNICA with its powerful implicit feature extraction capabilities. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of recent progress in applying deep learning techniques for SNICA. We first introduce related concepts and summarize the advantages of deep learning technology in SNICA. Then, we propose a general framework for deep learning technology, which applies to SNICA. Then, different SNICA application scenarios in the framework are classified and discussed according to user behavior analysis, information cascade analysis, rumor detection, and social network event analysis. Finally, we discuss the limitations of current work and suggest future directions. © 2020 IEEE.
