Quantitative analysis of the impact of various urban socioeconomic indicators on search-engine-based estimation of COVID-19 prevalence

Numerous studies have proposed search engine-based estimation of COVID-19 prevalence during the COVID-19 pandemic;however,their estimation models do not consider the impact of various urban socioeconomic indicators(USIs).This study quantitatively analysed the impact of various USIs on search engine-based estimation of COVID-19 prevalence using 15 USIs(including total population,gross regional product(GRP),and population density)from 369 cities in *** results suggested that 13 USIs affected either the correlation(SC-corr)or time lag(SC-lag)between search engine query volume and new COVID-19 cases(p<0.05).Total population and GRP impacted SC-corr considerably,with their correlation coefficients r for SC-corr being 0.65 and 0.59,*** population,GRP per capita,and proportion of the population with a high school diploma or higher had simultaneous positive impacts on SC-corr and SC-lag(p<0.05);these three indicators explained 37e50%of the total variation in SC-corr and *** for different urban agglomerations revealed that the goodness of fit,R2,for search engine-based estimation was more than 0.6 only when total urban population,GRP per capita,and proportion of the population with a high school diploma or higher exceeded 11.08 million,120,700,and 38.13%,respectively.A greater urban size indicated higher accuracy of search engine-based estimation of COVID-19 ***,the accuracy and time lag for search engine-based estimation of infectious disease prevalence can be improved only when the total urban population,GRP per capita,and proportion of the population with a high school diploma or higher are greater than the aforementioned thresholds.

With the development of LiDAR technologies and deep learning algorithms, tremendous methods have been proposed for 3D detection in intelligent transportation. However, the generalization of 3D detectors under different environments is not fully evaluated due to the lack of diverse testing datasets. Two of the main obstacles in building testing benchmark of point clouds are the huge cost of the annotation of point clouds and the low flexibility in data collection. In this paper, we propose to use hybrid point clouds to evaluate the generalization of multiple 3D detectors when they are transferred from real data to hybrid data. Compared with evaluating 3D detectors with real point clouds dataset, our approach is much more flexible and demands less human labor. © 2021 IEEE.

The central dogma that nanoparticle delivery to tumours requires enhanced leakiness of vasculatures is a topic of debate. To address this, we propose a single-vessel quantitative analysis method by taking advantage of protein-based nanoprobes and image-segmentation-based machine learning (nano-ISML). Using nano-ISML, >67,000 individual blood vessels from 32 tumour models were quantified, revealing highly heterogenous vascular permeability of protein-based nanoparticles. There was a >13-fold difference in the percentage of high-permeability vessels in different tumours and >100-fold penetration ability in vessels with the highest permeability compared with vessels with the lowest permeability. Our data suggest passive extravasation and transendothelial transport were the dominant mechanisms for high- and low-permeability tumour vessels, respectively. To exemplify the nano-ISML-assisted rational design of nanomedicines, genetically tailored protein nanoparticles with improved transendothelial transport in low-permeability tumours were developed. Our study delineates the heterogeneity of tumour vascular permeability and defines a direction for the rational design of next-generation anticancer nanomedicines. Using genetically tailored protein-based nanoprobes and taking advantage of image-segmentation-based machine learning, a high-throughput assessment of vascular permeability of individual blood vessels in 32 different tumours is quantified. These insights are valuable in developing personalized anticancer nanomedicine therapeutics and strategies modulating vascular permeability to treat tumours.

As the simulation model of a physical system, digital twin has been widely used in many complicated control systems. Providing an effective way to perform simulation, digital twin makes the evaluation, prediction and optimization process cheaper and easier than on physical systems. For smart manufacturing, digital twin achieves high productivity with less operation and maintenance cost. However, the advantages of digital twin in anomaly detection during manufacturing are always neglected. Taking a two-speed transmission system as an example, we generate three kinds of faults on this digital twin model. After extracting features from the system output, we train an anomaly detection model on these features to classify each type of fault. By this digital twin model, we can find the fault in the whole system at the very beginning, and reduce the time and cost of debugging and diagnosing. © 2021 IEEE.

An adaptive event-triggered control strategy for non-strict feedback nonlinear cyber-physical systems with time delays against deception attacks and actuator faults is presented. The most prominent difficulty lies in after the system signals are damaged by malicious deception attacks, all the exact states in the system are unavailable. Another design difficulty is the common existence of unknown nonlinearities and time-varying time delays, which makes it difficult to get the desired controller. Thus, to stabilize the studied cyber-physical systems, an unusual coordinate transformation is presented, where the attack gains and the problem of unavailability of states are considered simultaneously. Furthermore, the effect of the malicious deception attacks on the studied system is tackled by using Nussbaum technology and designing the Lyapunov functions with the attack gains. The unknown nonlinear functions, the mismatch problem for the control input caused by the nonlinearities of time-varying time delays are processed by neural networks technology and Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions. As a result, a controller based on event-triggered mechanism is constructed to reduce the waste of communication resources. The presented control strategy can ensure the signals in the closed-loop system are bounded. Finally, the Matlab simulation experiments are showed to verify the effectiveness of the developed strategy. Note to Practitioners-This paper studies the adaptive event-triggered control strategy for non-strict feedback nonlinear cyber-physical systems with time delay under deception attacks and actuator faults. With the remarkable development of the power grid, traditional manual maintenance modes cannot meet the requirement of efficiency and reliability. Robotic technology is applied for power line maintenance to bring down risks and ensure inspectors' safety. Based on the power transmission line maintenance platform, a 5-DOF manipulator is designed to perform the maintenance tasks for the quad bundle conductors. Then the kinematics analysis of the manipulator is analyzed. The manipulator doesn't meet the Pieper criterion. So an improved adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO) is proposed for figuring out the inverse kinematics. The weights of the pose and the constraint of the prismatic joint are introduced to the algorithm. What's more, half of the particles are initialized around the incipient value of joints and half of the particles are randomly initialized with the constraint of joints in this algorithm. Results show that the manipulator is able to work in the environment of quad bundle conductors and the proposed algorithm can improve the precision of inverse kinematics and prevent the leap of joints. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.

Tumor lesion detection in patients with cervical cancer by indocyanine green near-infrared imaging

Purpose To investigate the feasibility and accuracy of near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging for detecting the extent of tumor invasion in cervical cancer using indocyanine green (ICG). Methods We enrolled 51 patients who were diagnosed with cervical cancer with FIGO stage IB1-IIA2 disease. Patients were administered indocyanine green (ICG) at a dose of 5 mg/kg 24 h prior to surgery. A customized near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging system was used to identify the extent of tumor invasion when radical hysterectomy specimens were harvested. The relationship between tumor fluorescence intensity and clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed. Results Of the 51 enrolled patients, 3 patients did not have residual tumors after cervical conization, and tumor lesions were identified by NIRF imaging in all the remaining 48 patients. The results of NIRF imaging were in agreement with the postoperative pathological findings in 95.8% of the patients with stromal invasion, 100% of those with surgical margin invasion, 100% of those with parametrial tumor involvement, and 100% of patients with uterine corpus invasion. The mean signal-to-background ratio (SBR) of the cervical tumors was 2.91 +/- 1.64, and the SBR was independent of clinicopathological characteristics. Fluorescence microscopy confirmed that ICG fluorescence was present in the tumor nests. Conclusions NIRF imaging enables objective, accurate, and safe identification of tumor invasion during cervical cancer surgery.

Visual navigation in complex environments is inefficient with traditional reactive policy or general-purposed recurrent policy due to the long-term memory problem. To address this issue, this paper proposes a graph attention memory (GAM) architecture consisting of memory construction module, graph attention module, and control module. The memory construction module builds the topological graph based on supervised learning by taking the exploration prior. Then, guided attention features to reach the goal are extracted with the graph attention module. Finally, the deep reinforcement learning based control module makes decisions based on visual observations and guided attention features. In addition, the convergence of the proposed GAM module for recurrent attention operation is analyzed in this paper. We evaluate GAM-based navigation system in two complex 3D ViZDoom environments. Experimental results show that the GAM-based navigation system outperforms all baselines in both success rate and navigation efficiency, and significantly improves the generalization. © 2022 IEEE.
