The effects of artificial xenon arc lamp ageing on E-glass/vinyl ester composite were investigated. The mechanical properties of the composite are investigated by static mechanical tests, the storage and loss moduli, Tg, the peak of tanδ by DMA, the peak location and peak intensity by FTIR for pure resin and the composite, and fracture development and the relationship between fracture density and fatigue stress level by SEM, respectively. It is found out that the most significant ageing factor is ultraviolet radiation, and that the introduction of glass fiber will accelerate the crosslink and degradation of resin.

Mesoporous V 2 O 5 @TiO 2 composites were fabricated by an ultrasonic method with V 2 O 5 sol as the guest precursor. The prepared materials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, field emission-scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and nitrogen sorption analysis. The results indicated that V 2 O 5 nanoparticles dispersed well on/into the porous structure of TiO 2 matrix. The composites presented typical IUPAC IV isotherms with type H 2 hysteresis loops, revealing the mesoporous structure. It was observed that V 2 O 5 loading led to red shift of the absorption edge to 540 nm and reduced the band gap < 3.0 eV. The V 2 O 5 @TiO 2 composites with V/Ti molar ratio of 0.1 exhibited outstanding degradation efficiency of gaseous benzene.

For chiral gels and related applications, one of the critical issues is how to modulate the stereoselective interaction between the gel and the chiral guest precisely, as well as how to translate this information into the macroscopic properties of materials. Herein, we report that this process can also be modulated by nonchiral solvents, which can induce a chiral‐interaction reversion for organogel formation. This process could be observed through the clear difference in gelation speed and the morphology of the resulting self‐assembly. This chiral effect was successfully applied in the selective separation of quinine enantiomers and imparts “smart” merits to the gel materials.
