Electrochemical conversion of methane to bridge the gap in the artificial carbon cycle

Methane, an abundant one-carbon(C_(1)) resource, is extensively used in the industrial production of vital fuels and value-added chemicals. However, current industrial methane conversion technologies are energy-and carbon-intensive, mainly due to the high activation energy required to break the inert C–H bond, low selectivity, and problematic side reactions, including CO_(2)emissions and coke deposition. Electrochemical conversion of methane(ECM) using intermittent renewable energy offers an attractive solution, due to its modular reactor design and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of temperatures and pressures. This review emphasizes conversion pathways of methane in various reaction systems, highlighting the significance and advantages of ECM in facilitating a sustainable artificial carbon cycle. This work provides a comprehensive overview of conventional methane activation mechanisms and delineates the complete pathways of methane conversion in electrolysis contexts. Based on surface/interface chemistry, this work systematically analyzes proposed reaction pathways and corresponding strategies to enhance ECM efficiency towards various target products, including syngas, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and advanced carbon materials. The discussion also encompasses opportunities and challenges for the ECM process, including insights into ECM pathways, rational electrocatalyst design, establishment of benchmarking protocols, electrolyte engineering, enhancement of CH4conversion rates, and minimization of CO_(2)emission.

As a gateway to handle all intranet terminal traffic, SOHO router plays an important role in the network. In this paper, we introduced the security threats faced by SOHO routers, and on this basis, we propose a packet modification method of " Discard-Resend". The method does not affect the normal operation of the router, nor does it affect the normal communication between the two sides. We have done experiments on this packet modification method in several scenarios from the view of network security personnel and network attackers, and achieved the desired results. The packet modification method of " Discard-Resend" is a basic work in the security research of SOHO router, and it is of great significance. © 2023 SPIE.

Singlet fission(SF)is an appealing process where one photoexcited singlet transforms to two triplets,which can overcome thermalization energy loss and improve solar cell ***,it remains unclear how intermolecular coupling,which is subject to molecular stacking,controls SF pathways and ***,we prepared polymorph rubrene single crystals with different stacking geometries,including orthorhombic(Orth.),triclinic(Tri.),and monoclinic(Mono.)*** micro-area ultrafast spectroscopy,we find that *** *** with closerπ-πstacking exhibit co-existing coherent and incoherent SF channels while loosely stacked *** shows only incoherent ***,incoherent SF is thermally activated in *** barrierless in *** *** mechanical calculation reveals that different electronic coupling strength in different phases leads to different SF *** study demonstrates that molecular stacking governs SF dynamics through electronic coupling,providing guidance for designing efficient SF materials via crystal structural engineering.

Pushing AI to wireless network edge: an overview on integrated sensing, communication, and computation towards 6G

Pushing artificial intelligence(AI) from central cloud to network edge has reached board consensus in both industry and academia for materializing the vision of artificial intelligence of things(AIoT) in the sixth-generation(6G) era. This gives rise to an emerging research area known as edge intelligence, which concerns the distillation of human-like intelligence from the vast amount of data scattered at the wireless network edge. Typically, realizing edge intelligence corresponds to the processes of sensing, communication,and computation, which are coupled ingredients for data generation, exchanging, and processing, ***, conventional wireless networks design the three mentioned ingredients separately in a task-agnostic manner, which leads to difficulties in accommodating the stringent demands of ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability, and high capacity in emerging AI applications like auto-driving and metaverse. This thus prompts a new design paradigm of seamlessly integrated sensing, communication, and computation(ISCC) in a taskoriented manner, which comprehensively accounts for the use of the data in downstream AI tasks. In view of its growing interest, this study provides a timely overview of ISCC for edge intelligence by introducing its basic concept, design challenges, and enabling techniques, surveying the state-of-the-art advancements, and shedding light on the road ahead.

Knowledge Distillation Facilitates the Lightweight and Efficient Plant Diseases Detection Model

Plant disease diagnosis in time can inhibit the spread of the disease and prevent a large-scale drop in production,which benefits food *** detection-based plant disease diagnosis methods have attracted widespread attention due to their accuracy in classifying and locating ***,existing methods are still limited to single crop disease *** importantly,the existing model has a large number of parameters,which is not conducive to deploying it to agricultural mobile ***,reducing the number of model parameters tends to cause a decrease in model *** solve these problems,we propose a plant disease detection method based on knowledge distillation to achieve a lightweight and efficient diagnosis of multiple diseases across multiple *** detail,we design 2 strategies to build 4 different lightweight models as student models:the YOLOR-Light-v1,YOLOR-Light-v2,Mobile-YOLOR-v1,and Mobile-YOLOR-v2 models,and adopt the YOLOR model as the teacher *** develop a multistage knowledge distillation method to improve lightweight model performance,achieving 60.4%mAP@.5 in the PlantDoc dataset with small model parameters,outperforming existing ***,the multistage knowledge distillation technique can make the model lighter while maintaining high *** only that,the technique can be extended to other tasks,such as image classification and image segmentation,to obtain automated plant disease diagnostic models with a wider range of lightweight applicability in smart *** code is available at https://***/QDH/MSKD.

S-MGHSTN: Towards An Effective Streaming Traffic Accident Risk Prediction Framework

Traffic accidents pose a significant risk to human health and property safety. To address this issue, predicting their risks has garnered growing interest. We argue that a desired prediction solution should demonstrate resilience to the complexity of traffic accidents. In particular, it should adequately consider the streaming nature of data and key related aspects, such as regional background, accurately capture both proximity and similarity while bridging the disparities, and effectively address the sparsity. However, these factors are often overlooked or difficult to incorporate. In this paper, we propose a novel streaming multi-granularity hierarchical spatio-temporal network. Initially, we innovate by incorporating remote sensing data, facilitating the creation of hierarchical multi-granularity structure and the comprehension of regional background. We construct multiple high-level risk prediction tasks to enhance model's ability to cope with sparsity. Subsequently, to capture and bridge spatial proximity and semantic similarity, region features and multi-view graph undergo encoding processes to distill effective representations, followed by a graph-enhanced representation alignment module that reconciles their disparities. At last, an alternating experience replay with a dual-memory buffer is employed to accommodate streaming data scenarios. Extensive experiments on two real datasets verify the superiority of our model against the state-of-the-art methods. © 1989-2012 IEEE.
