Blockchain, as an emerging distributed database, effectively addresses the issue of centralized storage in IoT data, where storage capacity cannot match the explosive growth in devices and data scale, as well as the contradictions arising from centralized data management concerning data privacy and security concerns. To alleviate the problem of excessive pressure on single-point storage and ensure data security, a blockchain data storage method based on erasure codes is proposed. This method involves constructing mathematical functions that describe the data to split the original block data into multiple fragments and add redundant slices. These fragments are then encoded and stored in different locations using a circular hash space with the addition of virtual nodes to ensure load balancing among nodes and reduce situations where a single node stores too many encoded data blocks, effectively enhancing the storage space utilization efficiency of the distributed storage database. The blockchain storage method stores encoded data digest information such as storage location, creation time, and hashes, allowing for the tracing of the origin of encoded data blocks. In case of accidental loss or malicious tampering, this enables effective recovery and ensures the integrity and availability of data in the network. Experimental results indicate that compared to traditional blockchain approaches, this method effectively reduces the storage pressure on nodes and exhibits a certain degree of disaster recovery capability. © 2023 IEEE.

The current research on cross-platform instant messaging user association is mainly divided into two categories: based on user attributes and based on user behavior. Methods based on user attributes mainly identify users through multiple attributes such as user name and multi-platform user information association based on cell phone number, but user association is not possible when multi-platform user information is inconsistent and users do not grant their address book permissions. Methods based on user behavior mainly calculate the similarity between user trajectories features such as geographic location frequency and co-occurrence, but this method lacks the user’s information, which leads to the inability to fully excavate the sequential features of the trajectory and affects the accuracy of trajectory matching. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a cross-platform instant messaging user association algorithm based on temporal trajectories (CPTrajst). We firstly place probes in the area where the target may appear so as to obtain user information, gets user trajectory, then processes the trajectory and performs two trajectory matches, finally associate users of different platforms whose trajectories match, thus increasing the accuracy and reliability of cross-platform instant messaging user association. We conducts specific experiments for users of WeChat and Momo, the most commonly used instant messengers in China. The results show that we can achieve reliable association for these two types of instant messaging users and the user association accuracy can reach 99.5%, which is better than the existing user association algorithms based on trajectory matching. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Over the years,numerous geotechnical approaches have been implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of climate warming on various infrastructures in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP),such as the Qinghai-Tibet Highway and Railway,and achieved the expected engineering ***,little attention has been given to whether the performance of these geotechnical approaches has changed during the ongoing process of climate *** investigate the performance variation of one of these geotechnical approaches,which is two-phase closed thermosyphon(TPCT),during sustained climate warming,we conducted a statistical analysis of soil temperature monitoring data in 2003-2020 from eight regular embankments and six TPCT embankments in our permafrost monitoring *** results indicate that TPCT undeniably has a cooling effect on the permafrost beneath embankments,even rapidly eliminated previously formed taliks beneath ***,further analysis reveals that the performance of TPCT has been weakening during sustained climate warming,which has confirmed by the re-forming of the taliks beneath embankment where they had been previously *** on the current understanding,we attributed the weakening of thermosyphon performance to a significant reduction in the air temperature freezing index caused by ongoing climate *** this study,we aimed to draw attention to the evolving performance of geotechnical approaches in permafrost regions amid climate warming,prompting necessary engineering innovations to address this situation and ensure the sustainable development of the permafrost region on the QTP.

Adam-family methods for nonsmooth optimization with convergence guarantees

In this paper, we present a comprehensive study on the convergence properties of Adam-family methods for nonsmooth optimization, especially in the training of nonsmooth neural networks. We introduce a novel two-timescale framework that adopts a two-timescale updating scheme, and prove its convergence properties under mild assumptions. Our proposed framework encompasses various popular Adam-family methods, providing convergence guarantees for these methods in training nonsmooth neural networks. Furthermore, we develop stochastic subgradient methods that incorporate gradient clipping techniques for training nonsmooth neural networks with heavy-tailed noise. Through our framework, we show that our proposed methods converge even when the evaluation noises are only assumed to be integrable. Extensive numerical experiments demonstrate the high efficiency and robustness of our proposed methods.

Blockchain-Assisted Privacy-Preserving and Synchronized key Agreement for VDTNs

With the continuous development of digitization evolutions, vehicular digital twin networks (VDTNs) facilitate traffic data and optimization results to be exchanged between the vehicle and digital twin as well as shared among a group of digital twins. However, the data exchange and group sharing processes take place in real-time over public communication channels, which suffer from various security and privacy threats. key agreement technologies are promising to enable secure data communications for entities, but the existing key agreement schemes generally fail to fulfill the requirements of synchronization, privacy, and entity management for VDTNs. Therefore, we propose a blockchain-assisted privacy-preserving and synchronized key agreement scheme for VDTNs. In the proposed scheme, the anonymous vehicle and digital twin can negotiate a secret session key in the case of synchronization to achieve secure data exchange. Meanwhile, digital twins are capable of utilizing synchronized state information to dynamically establish a common group encryption key but hold individual decryption keys, which guarantee the security of group sharing. Additionally, the proposed scheme is able to protect identity privacy and manage vehicles and digital twins with the assistance of blockchain and smart contract. The security analysis demonstrates that the proposed scheme provides security and privacy assurances for VDTNs. The performance evaluation indicates that it has excellent expressions in terms of efficiency, practicality, and smart contract consumption. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Incorporating biological neuronal properties into Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to enhance computational capabilities is under active investigation in the field of deep learning. Inspired by recent findings indicating that dendrites adhere to quadratic integration rule for synaptic inputs, this study explores the computational benefits of quadratic neurons. We theoretically demonstrate that quadratic neurons inherently capture correlation within structured data, a feature that grants them superior generalization abilities over traditional neurons. This is substantiated by few-shot learning experiments. Furthermore, we integrate the quadratic rule into Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) using a biologically plausible approach, resulting in innovative architectures-Dendritic integration inspired CNNs (Dit-CNNs). Our Dit-CNNs compete favorably with state-of-the-art models across multiple classification benchmarks, e.g., ImageNet-1K, while retaining the simplicity and efficiency of traditional CNNs. Learning the causal relationships among variables from observational data has been a significant problem in statistics and data mining, and one such algorithm is the PC algorithm. However, the existing CPU-based implementations are difficult to support Causal Structure Learning(CSL) on complex observational data due to inefficiency. In this paper, we propose an efficient CPU-based parallel implementation of the PC algorithm, called PEPC. It has an extensible framework, and some optimizations are adopted to reduce the CSL computation of the PC algorithm. Moreover, our PEPC supports efficient multi-thread parallelism. The experimental results demonstrate that PEPC outperforms existing methods in serial efficiency and multi-thread parallelism. In serial tests, our method achieves the maximum speedup ratios of 577.26, 116.74, and 134.68 over three existing approaches, Stable, ***, and Tetrad. In parallel experiments, it achieves 10.66X speedup when running the PC algorithm with 12 threads. © 2023 ACM.

Audit-LLM: Multi-Agent Collaboration for Log-based Insider Threat Detection

Log-based insider threat detection (ITD) detects malicious user activities by auditing log entries. Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) with strong common sense knowledge are emerging in the domain of ITD. Nevertheless, diverse activity types and overlong log files pose a significant challenge for LLMs to directly discern malicious ones within myriads of normal activities. Furthermore, the faithfulness hallucination issue from LLMs aggravates its application difficulty in ITD, as the generated conclusion may not align with user commands and activity context. In response to these challenges, we introduce Audit-LLM, a multi-agent log-based insider threat detection framework comprising three collaborative agents: (i) the Decomposer agent, breaking down the complex ITD task into manageable sub-tasks using Chain-of-Thought (COT) reasoning;(ii) the Tool Builder agent, creating reusable tools for sub-tasks to overcome context length limitations in LLMs;and (iii) the Executor agent, generating the final detection conclusion by invoking constructed tools. To enhance conclusion accuracy, we propose a pair-wise Evidence-based Multi-agent Debate (EMAD) mechanism, where two independent Executors iteratively refine their conclusions through reasoning exchange to reach a consensus. Comprehensive experiments conducted on three publicly available ITD datasets—CERT r4.2, CERT r5.2, and PicoDomain—demonstrate the superiority of our method over existing baselines and show that the proposed EMAD significantly improves the faithfulness of explanations generated by LLMs. 1 2 Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Considering the tumor aggressive nature and the significant changes in anatomical structure, aligning the preoperative and follow up scans of glioma patients remains a challenge due to the presence of regions with absent correspondence. To address this challenge, this work proposed a novel bidirectional unsupervised deformable image registration framework for image pairs with missing correspondence based on an auxiliary-image-aided intensity-consistency constraint (ICC) strategy. Specifically, for any fixed and moving image pairs, we introduced an auxiliary image and warped it directly to fixed/moving image or warped it twice through a transition of moving/fixed image. By comparing the difference between these warped images, the weighting maps to identify and exclude regions with absent correspondence between fixed and moving image pairs can be generated. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we combined it with several deep learning-based registration models and tested it on BraTS-Reg challenge dataset, the results demonstrated that the proposed ICC strategy can improve the registration performance for all the models, with the improvement of average target registration error (TRE) and success rate (SR) being up to 44.9% and 66.7%, respectively. Comparing against the best existing forward-backward consistency strategy for dealing with missing correspondence registration, our auxiliary-image-aided ICC strategy can also decrease average TRE by 2.9%, demonstrating the superiority of the proposed framework. The present work is not limited to the glioma images, it can be used to address the registration problems for any image pairs with absent correspondence or inconsistent intensity. © 2024 IEEE.
