In this paper, a human robot shared control strategy is developed and tested on a Baxter robot. Using the proposed method, the human operator only needs to consider the motion of the end-effector of the manipulator, while the manipulator will avoid obstacle by itself without sacrificing the end effector motion performance. An improved obstacle avoidance strategy based on the joint space redundancy of the manipulator is designed. A dimension reduction method is presented to solve the over defined problem of avoiding velocity to achieve a more efficient use of the redundancy. By employment of an artificial parallel system of the teleoperate manipulator and the task switching weighting factor, the proposed control method enable the robot restoring back to the commanded pose smoothly when the obstacle is removed. By implementing the dimension reduction method, the trajectory of each joint of the manipulator can be controlled at the same time to achieve the restoring task. Thus, the proposed control method can eliminate the impact of the obstacle on the remaining task. Satisfactory experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Existing causal inference methods for social media usually rely on limited explicit causal context, preassume certain user interaction model, or neglect the nonlinear nature of social interaction, which could lead to bias estimations of causality. Besides, they often require sufficiently long time series to achieve reasonable results. Here we propose to take advantage of multivariate embedding to perform causality detection in social media. Experimental results show the efficacy of the proposed approach in causality detection and user behavior prediction in social media.

In this paper, a radial basis function (RBF) neural network (NN) identifier based approximate constrained optimal guidance law is proposed for Mars entry vehicles guidance. Firstly, an RBF NN identifier is used to identify the system uncertain parameters. With the identified parameters, the optimal guidance problem of Mars entry vehicles is transformed into an optimal tracking control one, which depends on the solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation. Due to the control input constraints, a generalized non-quadratic performance function is proposed. In general, the HJB equation is a nonlinear partial differential equation that is difficult or even impossible to be solved analytically. We use an NN to solve the HJB equation approximately. Finally, the Monte-Carlo simulation results on the Mars entry vehicles demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Revealing underlying social influence among users in social media is critical to understanding how users interact, on which a lot of security intelligence applications can be built. Existing methods fail to take into account the interaction relationships among memes. In this paper, we propose to simultaneously model social influence and meme interaction in information diffusion with novel multidimensional Hawkes processes. Experimental results on both synthetic and real world social media data show the efficacy of the proposed approach.

With the smart monitoring being widely concerned recently, substations have been introducing smart monitoring system. In this paper, we propose a vision-based recognition method for transformers in substation via combining with AdaBoost and a multi-template matching method. The proposed method works by dividing the whole process into two parts, namely coarse detection and fine recognition. In coarse detection, haar features of training samples in each sub-region are extracted and then AdaBoost algorithm is utilized for training and detecting. After coarse detection, we then perform fine recognition using multi-template matching with histogram intersection. Experimental results demonstrate that our method has a higher recognition precision and it is superior and more effective than the conventional AdaBoost method.

The rapidly growing amount of social interaction makes geographical names an important and indispensable medium for people in social and economic exchanges. Especially in today's information age, the frequency of usage of name information has increased greatly. In this paper, a method for the construction of a cities' names database is proposed. This will include the processing of the outcome data from the names pilot survey, the consolidation into the database, the development of the cloud service and management system based on the geographical names and zoning database, and the construction of a relatively complete set of the public service system of geographical names based on a website and touch screen interface. The method has been applied in San Ya, China successfully, and very good results have been obtained. The platform can provide not only accurate and convenient services of geographical names, but also promote its economic development and social progress.

In this paper, the principle of the kernel extreme learning machine (ELM) is analyzed. Based on that, we introduce a kind of multi-scale wavelet kernel extreme learning machine classifier and apply it to electroencephalographic (EEG) signal feature classification. Experiments show that our classifier achieves excellent performance.

In this paper, a new path planning algorithm based on triangular meshes of the airfoil open surface for four commonly used laying angles in robotic fibre placement is presented. In the proposed algorithm, the 0° paths are computed by the slicing method, the ±45° paths are obtained by general rotation transformation, and the method to equally divide arc is adopted to get the 90° paths which can ensure that the complete fibre tows distributed evenly on the surface connect the root and tip part. Then the redundant path points are deleted, the final path points are obtained to generate the poses of the fibre placement head which is mounted at the robot manipulator's end-effector. Finally the simulation is carried out in software RobotStudio and the effect of laying is displayed using OpenGL. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, the leader-following consensus problem of multi-agent systems with nonlinear heterogeneous dynamics and switching topologies is considered. All agent outputs are required to track a leader output which is assumed as a desired value. By input-output feedback linearization, the nonlinear heterogeneous system is decomposed into equivalent linear systems and internal dynamics. Then a distributed auxiliary controller for every agent using local information is designed and a sufficient consensus condition is given under switching topologies with every possible topology containing a directed spanning ***, it is proved that the consensus can be achieved with the same condition for multi-agent systems under switching topologies frequently containing a directed spanning tree. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the control protocol.
