As a popular control rhythm of the multi-joint robotic fish,Center Pattern Generators（CPGs） plays an important role for motion ***,its optimal parameters are tough to seek through traditional *** order to address this problem,we propose an online optimization method for CPG parameters,including a novel normalized CPGs（N-CPGs）and a learning-based optimization *** N-CPGs,the network parameters can be fully decoupled,which provides a great convenience for model parameter *** particular,by applying the established dynamic model of the robotic fish,we use the deep Q network（DQN） to optimize the N-CPGs,aiming at improving the speed ***,extensive simulation results verify the effectiveness of proposed method,laying a solid foundation for real-time online control optimization of versatile motion modes in complex application scenarios.

Grouping Methods for Facilitating Emergency Evacuations

It is widely believed that the motion of crowds can be described by the “social force” model, and small group behaviors have great impacts on evacuation efficiency as a common phenomenon in pedestrian evacuations. Some previous works have modeled group behaviors in social force models by depicting group members’ interaction forces. However, the impacts of different grouping schemes have not been considered and evaluated. This paper proposes four different grouping methods to explore the evacuation dynamics of different group structured pedestrians. Results show that group evacuations based on the spatial partitioning outperform those clustering-based schemes with the larger group number. More importantly, simulations indicate that the number of groups also highly affects the evacuation efficiency, and the larger the number of groups, the more efficient the evacuation.

Optimizing Urban Green Spaces to Mitigate Urban Heat Island Effects in Beijing, China: Different Urban Block Perspectives

Urban green spaces (UGS) can be regarded as an effective approach to mitigate urban heat island (UHI) effects. Many studies have investigated the impacts of composition and configuration of UGS on land surface temperature (LST), while little attention has been paid to the impacts among different urban blocks. Thus, taking 1835 urban blocks in Beijing as samples, including low-rise point (LRP), low-rise street (LRS), low-rise block (LRB), mid-rise point (MRP), mid-rise street (MRS), mid-rise block (MRB), high-rise point (HRP), high-rise street (HRS) and high-rise block (HRB), this study investigated the impacts of UGS on LST among different urban blocks. The results showed that UGS serves as cold islands among different urban blocks. Percentage of landscape (PLAND) of UGS in all types of urban blocks, edge density (ED) of UGS in MRS, area-weighted fractal dimension index (FRAC_AM) of UGS in HRS and HRB show significantly negative impacts on LST, while aggregation index (AI) of UGS in LRP shows significantly positive impacts. The findings suggest that both composition and configuration of UGS can affect LST among different urban blocks and rational allocation of UGS would be effective for mitigating UHI effects. © 2022, The Authors. Combined with hot tensile tests and finite element simulation, a fracture model of an Al alloy used in aerospace industry is established. A GTN fracture model is used to describe the damage process. The proposed model is implemented as a user routine in finite element software, DEFORM 2D. The parameters of the proposed model are calibrated by application of response surface methodology (RSM) and non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). The simulation results show that the established model can describe the fracture behavior of the studied Al alloy accurately. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

In endovascular interventional therapy, the fusion of preoperative data with intraoperative X-ray fluoroscopy has demonstrated the potential to reduce radiation dose, contrast agent and processing time. Real-time intraoperative stent segmentation is an important pre-requisite for accurate fusion. Nevertheless, this task often comes with the challenge of the thin stent wires with low contrast in noisy X-ray fluoroscopy. In this paper, a novel and efficient network, termed Lightweight Double Attention-fused Network (LDA-Net), is proposed for end-to-end stent segmentation in intraoperative X-ray fluoroscopy. The proposed LDA-Net consists of three major components, namely feature attention module, relevance attention module and pre-trained MobileNetV2 encoder. Besides, a hybrid loss function of both reinforced focal loss and dice loss is designed to better address the issues of class imbalance and misclassified examples. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations on 175 intraoperative X-ray sequences demonstrate that the proposed LDA-Net significantly outperforms simpler baselines as well as the best previously-published result for this task, achieving the state-of-the-art performance. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The reconstruction of surface mesh from point cloud is compute-intensive but also very important step in the remanufacturing and personalization industries. With more 3D scanners providing lower cost and higher resolution, further detailed point clouds can be gathered without so much effort as before. In manufacturing, there are databases which contain the origin 3D design models of the products. How to utilize the design model data for swift production of related products remains a problem for remanufacturing and customization. In order to develop a knowledge-based way of handling this problem, editing or deforming an existing mesh to match the target is an effective way of easing the workload. In this paper, we introduce a divide-and -conquer process which segments the depth scan data and then find the best match in the database as its source of deformation. The segmentation is performed on 3D point level using global features extracted by 3D CNN. After that we find best match to our knowledge with the same features to acquire a fast meshing of the target object by deforming the existing parts from the match. The deformation of parts are being done sequentially. For further performance improvement, we present a deformation training method employing transfer learning on segment editing process. © 2020 IEEE.

The past decade has witnessed a surge in research activities related to adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) and reinforcement learning (RL), particularly for control applications. Several books [item 1)–5) in the Appendix] and survey papers [item 6)–10) in the Appendix] have been published on the subject. Both ADP and RL provide approximate solutions to dynamic programming problems. In a 1995 article by Barto et al. [item 11) in the Appendix], they introduced the so-called “adaptive real-time dynamic programming,” which was specifically to apply ADP for real-time control. Later, in 2002, Murray et al. [item 12) in the Appendix] developed an ADP algorithm for optimal control of continuous-time affine nonlinear systems. On the other hand, the most famous algorithms in RL are the temporal difference algorithm [item 13) in the Appendix] and the Q-learning algorithm [item 14) and 15) in the Appendix].

Growing interest in autonomous driving (AD) and intelligent vehicles (IVs) is fueled by their promise for enhanced safety, efficiency, and economic benefits. The first part, a"Survey of Surveys" (SoS), outlines the history, surveys, ethics, and future directions of AD and IV technologies. The second part,"Milestones in Autonomous Driving and Intelligent Vehicles Part I: control, Computing system Design, Communication, HD Map, Testing, and Human Behaviors" delves into the development of control, computing system, communication, HD map, testing, and human behaviors in IVs. This part, the third part, reviews perception and planning in the context of IVs. Aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in AD and IVs, this work caters to both newcomers and seasoned researchers. In many previous studies, the analytical model of weapon-target assignment (WTA) is only based on the maximum damage to hostile targets. In order to overcome the deficiency of single decision-making, three sub models are established, which not only take the maximum damage to hostile targets, but also minimum loss and shortest interception time as the optimization objectives. In the meantime, the established models combine the air defense operation pattern and the characteristics of multiple air defense platforms. Based on the sub models, a weighted WTA model is proposed in this study using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy method. Through optimization, the optimal air defense WTA scheme is obtained by the weighted WTA model, and the optimization results are analyzed. Comparative study demonstrates that it is more reasonable to optimize the WTA scheme with multi-objectives.
