According to the idea of "Emerging Engineering Education"talent training model of Ministry of Education, students should be trained to have "metaphysical"concept, connection, imagination, macro thinking. Project-driven experiment teaching focuses on a project, and the goal is the completion of the project;the student is the center of teaching activities, which is supported by the inquiry process. This study analyzes the significance of the project-driven method in experimental teaching. This paper describes the implementation process of experimental teaching in the field of energy and power engineering in terms of project design, teaching system construction and so on under the project-driven method. By analyzing the results of a questionnaire survey distributed to students of energy and power in the College of Mechanical Engineering at the tianjin University of Technology, it is found that the students are satisfied with the effects of project-driven experimental teaching, and the use of experimental teaching has greatly aroused the students' enthusiasm for learning. The ability of the students to engage in autonomous learning, engineering practice and innovation has been greatly improved, and a good teaching effect has been achieved. © 2021 IEEE.

As an advanced technology that integrates virtuality and reality, digital twin technology has shown a wide range of application prospects in various fields. This paper aims to explore the potential application of digital twin technology in the teaching of engineering drawing courses, to improve students' theoretical knowledge and practical ability. By combining digital twin technology with traditional engineering drawing teaching, students can carry out practical operations and simulations in a virtual environment to better understand and apply drawing concepts and principles. Besides, taking the assembly drawing of thread connection as an actual teaching case, the specific application of digital twin technology in theoretical and experimental teaching is explained, respectively. The results show that digital twin technology is conducive to improving students' interest in engineering drawing courses and training students' spatial imagination ability, which is of great significance to reforming drawing courses.

Mandibular defect repair has always been a clinical challenge, facing technical bottleneck. The new materials directly affect technological breakthroughs in mandibular defect repair field. Our aim is to fabricate a scaffold for mandibular defect repairing with advanced biomaterials. Therefore, a novel dual-channel printed scaffold consisting of silk fibroin/collagen type I /hydroxyapatite (SCH) and polycaprolactone/hydroxyapatite (PCL/HA) was fabricated by 3D printing technology with double nozzles. The mechanical properties and behaviors of dual-channel printed scaffold were investigated by performing uniaxial compression, creep, stress relaxation and ratcheting experiments respectively. The experiments indicated the Young modulus of dual-channel printed scaffold was 60.1 kPa and dual-channel printed scaffold was typical nolinear viscoelastic consistent with bone tissue. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was employed performing a numerical simulation to evaluate the implantation effect in mandible. The stress distribution of the contact area between scaffold and defect was uniform, the maximum Mises stress of cortical bone and cancellous bone in defect area were 54.52MPa and 3.196MPa, and the maximum displacement of cortical bone and cancellous bone in defect area were 0.1575mm and 0.1555mm, which were distributed in the incisor region. The peak value of the maximum Mises stress for the scaffold implanted was 3.128× MPa and the maximum displacement was 6.453×mm distributed near incisor area. The displacement distribution of the scaffold was consistent with that of cortical and cancellous bone. The scaffold recovered well when the force applied on it disappeared. Above all, dual-channel printed scaffold had excellent bio-mechanical properties in implanting mandible, which provides a new idea for the reconstruction of irregular bone defects in the mandible and has good clinical development prospects. © 2023, The Authors. Nonlinear Modeling and Sensitivity Performance Analysis of a Novel Tapered Beam-Based Micro-Gyroscope

In this paper, we investigate a class of tapered beam micro-gyroscope with electrostatically driven and consider the effects of electrostatic force nonlinearity and fringing field. The governing equations of system are derived by Euler angular transformation and Hamilton principle. The ordinary differential equations with fourth-order variable coefficient are solved by the Adomian decomposition method (ADM). Influence of parameters such as shape factors and DC voltage on static deflection, pull-in voltage and natural frequency of tapered beam micro-gyroscope are investigated. Galerkin discretization is performed on the governing equations of the tapered beam micro-gyroscope. The frequency-response equation of the system is deduced and solved by applying the method of multi-scale (MMS). We obtained the influence regular of DC voltage and fringing field effect on the frequency-response curves. Finally, performance of the tapered beam micro-gyroscope is analyzed in terms of bandwidth, sensitivity, and calibration curve nonlinearity under different shape factors. In static analysis, the pull-in voltage of system gradually decreases with the increase of the shape factors of tapered beam micro-gyroscope, and it will be further reduced by considering the fringing field effect. In the dynamic analysis, the maximum amplitude of motion in the drive and sense directions increases significantly with the shape factors of the tapered beam. Softening characteristics caused by the nonlinearity of the electrostatic force are enhanced. Compared with straight beam micro-gyroscope, the tapered beam micro-gyroscope has the higher amplitude of motion and pronounced nonlinear characteristics. Due to the nonlinearity, the frequency-response curves in the drive direction shifts to the left. The amplitude of motion in the drive direction has a high response over a wide frequency band. In the present study, multi-objective optimization is conducted to search for the best operating condition for a subcritical organic Rankine system with the trade-off between system exergy efficiency and dynamic payback period (PBP). A 150°C wastewater heat source is employed as a typical low-temperature heat source. Five decision variables are considered: turbine inlet temperature and pressure, pinch point temperature differences in evaporator and condenser, and condensing temperature. The multi-objective genetic algorithm combined with the backpropagation neural network method is employed as the optimization approach. In addition, the improved Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is developed to gain the optimal Pareto front solution for either working fluid and find the optimal working fluid among the candidates investigated. The results show that working fluid R236fa is the optimal solution, despite the minimum PBP for working fluid R123 and the maximum system exergy efficiency for working fluid R1234ze. Under the optimal working condition for working fluid R236fa, the system exergy efficiency and the PBP are 0.465 and 7.377 years, respectively. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the rapid development of railway traffic system, real-time semantic segmentation plays a crucial role in railway track scene monitoring. However, most of the existing methods use lightweight convolution to reduce the computational complexity, which results in reduced accuracy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a real-time semantic segmentation network called TICNet, which is specifically used for accurate segmentation of railway track scenes. TICNet uses a novel three-branch structure designed for efficient feature extraction and accurate segmentation. Results on the RailSem19 dataset show that TICNet has a segmentation accuracy of 62.36% mIoU with an inference speed of 81.2 FPS, which is significantly better than many existing methods.

Based on experience of former teaching reformation and philosophy of "Emerging Engineering Education", an experimental teaching reformation program that includes restructured knowledge system, modularization of experimental teaching process and diversified evaluation system is proposed. It is found that students have deeper and comprehensive understanding on knowledge and more enthusiasm in experimental process. Finally students have definite self-cognition about their division of labor in teamwork. Through gathering statistics, the effectiveness of reformation program is verified and this program can enrich practical experience of experimental teaching reformation. © 2020 ACM.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle enabled (UAV-enabled) wireless powered Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) provide an effective way to deploy massive and passive sensors for environmental monitoring in harsh environments. This study focuses on maximizing the total energy received by all Sensor Nodes (SNs) through the optimization of the UAV trajectory. An energy-aware smoothing trajectory method is proposed by considering the dynamic energy requirements of SNs. First, the optimization problem (P1) is formulated according to the mathematical model. Second, the B-spline method is introduced to turn the smoothing problem into a solvable problem (P2). Finally, problem (P2) is solved under the constraints to obtain the trajectory solution. Simulation results indicate the proposed method can adjust the overall trajectory according to the SNs demands. Meanwhile, according to the wake-up distance and energy-aware, the trajectory of some nodes can be locally adjusted without affecting other trajectory segments.

Semantic segmentation is used by intelligent transportation systems to understand and sense the traffic environment. However, achieving semantic segmentation in real-time is a challenge due to the necessity of both high accuracy and fast processing. This is especially valuable for applications such as autonomous driving and industrial robotics. In this paper, we propose a real-time semantic segmentation network, called LCFNet, which makes use of three-branch structure. The LCFNet consists of Lightweight Detail Guidance Fusion (L-DGF) and Lightweight Semantic Guidance Fusion (L-SGF) modules. Both modules aggregate information from various network layers. In the termination of network, a Total Guidance Fusion (TGF) module is proposed for processing information from all three branches. Depth-wise Convolution Pyramid Pooling (DCPP) module is also included to optimize accuracy and simplify computation. The effectiveness of LCFNet is demonstrated on two typical semantic segmentation datasets, Cityscapes and CamVid. On a single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 Ti GPU, LCFNet reaches 77.02% mIoU at 95.97 FPS and 81.17% mIoU at 204.82 FPS, respectively.

In rotating machinery, because of high-speed working characteristics and terrible working conditions with variable cycles and variable loads, it is easy for rotors to cause a crack initiation and propagation, which may cause serious harm or even the life-threatening. The super harmonic component is an important role of the crack detection. But it is difficult to reflect the super harmonic component in the high-speed region after super harmonic resonances. In this paper, the dynamic equation of a nonlinear rotor system with a crack is considered, the potential energy expression of the cracked rotor is derived, and the concept of energy tracks is proposed. In the distortion of energy tracks, the effects of different crack parameters and nonlinear parameters on the vibration characteristics of the rotor system are compared. The results show that the energy trajectory distortion can diagnose the crack fault. It provides a new research method for vibration response analyses and fault diagnoses of cracked rotor system. © 2020 IEEE.
