In recent years, the virtual reality technique has been widely used in many fields. One of the most popular applications is for generating virtual models that can be operated on the screen. In the paper, three methods of obtaining virtual models are introduced. One method is by scanning the quick response code. Another method is the use of CADbro software. The third way is to develop an app to help the digital world emerge in real-life scenarios. With the help of virtual technology, ways of teaching, modes of production, and film production are changing. The three methods mentioned in the paper make it easy to generate virtual models for people to operate on mobile devices. Virtual models generated by the three methods can be operated by touching the screen or operating the mouse, whenever and wherever. © 2024 The Authors.

Cloud detection can address data quality and analytical accuracy issues caused by cloud cover in satellite imagery, significantly enhancing image usability. Existing cloud detection methods still have the problem of detecting a certain amount of ground and sea surface as clouds, as well as some cloud regions that are missed, resulting in a decrease in the accuracy of cloud detection. Aiming at the above problems, an interactive cloud detection method based on Dynamic Mode Decomposition is proposed. Based on the fact that clouds are constantly moving, the dynamic mode decomposition can be utilized to detect the characteristics of moving objects, and the dynamic clouds are detected, avoiding the detection of the ground and sea surface as clouds. Although static clouds rarely appear, to ensure the robustness of the algorithm, we design an interactive static cloud detection algorithm for the users, which solve the problem of missed detection and further improves the accuracy of cloud detection. To assess the effectiveness of the algorithm, the four different types of clouds of floccus, undulatus, vortex clouds, and stratocumulus are detected, the experimental outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the algorithm. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Existing neurosurgical robots are prone to interfering with each other in a narrow operating space due to the overlapping of several arms, which poses a great safety risk during surgery. In this paper, a 7-DOF dual-arm robot is designed to cooperate with the surgeon to complete craniotomy by manipulating the master hand mechanism. Aiming at the pain point that two real-time dynamic slave hands are prone to interference, this paper establishes a simplified model of the robot envelope, and transforms the interference detection problem between the robots into the interference checking of geometric primitives. If the interference between the two arms is detected by the algorithm, the surgical path of the current robotic arm is immediately terminated to ensure the safety of the surgery. Finally, the algorithm is simulated and verified with the robot designed in this paper. The results show that the algorithm is feasible and has high computational efficiency. © 2024 The Authors.

To enhance the safety and longevity of large ships, employing high-pressure water jet technology for rust removal is crucial in this article, the qualitative relationship among the key parameters of high-pressure water jet rust removal is analyzed theoretically. Secondly, the flow field simulation is carried out using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to verify the relationship among the key parameters. Finally, the influence of different nozzle length-diameter ratios on jet characteristics is analyzed. The simulation results show that the nozzle end length is 0 mm and the nozzle diameter is 1mm for the straight-cone convergent nozzle with a shrinking angle of 30° when the diameter of the length-diameter ratio remains unchanged and the length of the nozzle end is changed. Simultaneously, the highest values are observed for the nozzle exit velocity and the impact force on the target surface. The impact range of target shear force takes the maximum value when the length-diameter ratio is 1. Further, by changing the length of the nozzle-end and the nozzle diameter in the length-diameter ratio, the influence on the jet characteristics can be concluded that the nozzle diameter has a greater influence on the nozzle exit velocity than the nozzle-end length. On this basis, the optimized nozzle parameters can be obtained i.e., the nozzle-end length is 1 mm and the nozzle diameter is 1 mm, such that the effective striking area of the jet is the largest and the striking effect is the best. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Liquid metal-based microchannel heat sinks (MCHSs) suffer from the low heat capacity of coolant, resulting in an excessive temperature rise of coolant and heat sink when dealing with high-power heat dissipation. In this paper, it was found that expanded space at the top of fins could distribute the heat inside microchannels, reducing the temperature rise of coolant and heat sink. The orthogonal experiments revealed that expanding the top space of channels yielded similar temperature reductions to changing the channel width. The flow and thermal modeling of expanded microchannel heat sink (E-MCHS) were analyzed by both using the 3-dimensional (3D) numerical simulation and the 1-dimensional (1D) thermal resistance model. The fin efficiency of E-MCHS was derived to improve the accuracy of the 1D thermal resistance model. The heat conduction of liquid metal in Z direction and the heat convection between the top surface of fins and the liquid metal could reduce the total thermal resistance (Rt). The above process was effective for microchannels with low channel aspect ratio, low mean velocity (Um) or long heat sink length. The maximum thermal resistance reduction in the example of this paper reached 36.0%. The expanded space endowed the heat sink with lower pressure, which might further reduce the pumping power (P). This rule was feasible both when fins were truncated (h_(2) < 0, h_(2) is the height of expanded channel for E-MCHS) and when over plate was raised (h_(2) > 0).

In this paper, a nonlinear energy sink (NES) is designed to suppress the vibrations of a rectangular plate, where the vibrations within a non-resonant band of the plate are mainly investigated. The selected frequency range is 9–11 Hz with a loading frequency interval of 0.5 Hz. The harmonic excitation experiments with fixed frequency are conducted within the non-resonant band to obtain its amplitude-frequency curves. The results indicate that the NES always has effective vibration absorption with the variations in NES mass and spring stiffness under low excitation accelerations. However, the rectangular plate exhibits a higher branch of response within the low-frequency range under high excitation accelerations. Metrics such as the effective value of response acceleration and the vibration level are introduced to evaluate the experimental results to analyze the vibration absorption of the NES. The study reveals that optimal performance is achieved when a non-weighted NES with a spring having a wire diameter of 1.2 mm and an external diameter of 10 mm is attached to the rectangular plate. The complexification-averaging method is utilized to study the amplitude-frequency response of a system connected to a parallel asymmetric nonlinear energy sink (NES) under harmonic excitation, and the Runge-Kutta method is used to analyze the change law of the frequency band of the higher branches of response and the strongly modulated responses with the assistance of the complexification-averaging method. Under shock loading, the effect of parallel asymmetric NES parameters on its vibration absorption efficiency is investigated. The results demonstrate that the frequency band of higher branches of response is widened by reducing the stiffness ratio, mass ratio, and damping ratio of the two NES, emphasizing the fact that the frequency band of the strongly modulated response can be widened or narrowed with the reduction of these parameters. Moreover, reducing the mass ratio and damping ratio of the two NESs decreases the vibration absorption efficiency when the system is subjected to a shock load. Accurate fault diagnosis of planetary gearboxes (PGs) is crucial for preventing equipment failures and extending their lifespan. To enhance the efficiency and accuracy of PG fault diagnosis, this paper proposes a novel method integrating intrinsic time scale decomposition (ITD) with convolutional neural network (CNN). The proposed method leverages the demodulation capability of ITD to decompose and reconstruct the original signal, effectively removing irrelevant noise and isolating core fault features, and the learning ability of CNN to accurately identify the fault features. Compared to methods relying on CNN only, the proposed method not only improves the computational efficiency but also achieves higher fault diagnosis accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Liver rupture repair surgery serves as one tool to treat liver rupture, especially beneficial for cases of mild liver rupture hemorrhage. Liver rupture can catalyze critical conditions such as hemorrhage and shock. Surgical workflow recognition in liver rupture repair surgery videos presents a significant task aimed at reducing surgical mistakes and enhancing the quality of surgeries conducted by surgeons. A liver rupture repair simulation surgical dataset is proposed in this paper which consists of 45 videos collaboratively completed by nine surgeons. Furthermore, an end-to-end SA-RLNet, a self attention-based recurrent convolutional neural network, is introduced in this paper. The self-attention mechanism is used to automatically identify the importance of input features in various instances and associate the relationships between input features. The accuracy of the surgical phase classification of the SA-RLNet approach is 90.6%. The present study demonstrates that the SA-RLNet approach shows strong generalization capabilities on the dataset. SA-RLNet has proved to be advantageous in capturing subtle variations between surgical phases. The application of surgical workflow recognition has promising feasibility in liver rupture repair surgery. ©2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.
