This paper presents aspects of parallelism of computations in processing of signals using digital signal processors (DSPs) with multi-issue assembler instructions. We present general features of the contemporary DSPs with special attention paid to the VLIW architecture. In order to illustrate the multi-issue instruction technique we analyze performance of the fixed-point Blackfin processor by means of chosen typical signal processing tasks realized using VisualDSP++ 4.5 environment with Software Development Kit 2.01. Aspects of the floating-point processing are analyzed using Sharc and TigerSharc processors. © 2007 IEEE.

In this paper we extend a technique developed to design a feedback stabilizing control law for autonomous switched systems all modes of which are unstable. More specifically, we extend the switching table procedure to the class of affine switched systems, the dynamics of which either do not have an equilibrium point or, if they do, it is not common. This method is then applied to the DC-DC buck-boost converter. The design of the control law is based on dynamic programming and it results in a partition of the state space into switching look-up tables. A comparison with a Lyapunov based technique is also discussed. ©2007 IEEE.

The so called "super-exponential" methods (SEMs) are attractive methods for solving multichannel blind deconvolution problem. The conventional SEMs, however, have such a drawback that they are very sensitive to Gaussian noise. To overcome this drawback, the robust super-exponential methods (RSEMs) were proposed for single-input single-output infinite impulse response (SISO-IIR) channels and for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) static channels (instantaneous mixtures). While the conventional SEMs use the second-and higher-order cumulants of observations, the RSEMs use only the higher-order cumulants of observations. Since higher-order cumulants are insensitive to Gaussian noise, the RSEMs are robust to Gaussian noise. We proposed an RSEM extended to the case of MIMO-FIR channels (convolutive mixtures). To show the validity of the proposed RSEM, some simulation results are presented. © 2007 EURASIP.

We consider the stability of the feedback connection of a linear time invariant (LTI) plant with a static nonlinearity expressed by a certain class of quadratic program. By generalizing the class of candidate Lyapunov functions we improve on existing results in the literature. A Lyapunov function is constructed via the S-procedure from quadratic constraints established using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions. The stability criterion can be expressed as a linear matrix inequality (LMI) condition. We discuss some simple examples that demonstrate the improved results.

The purpose of this paper is to solve the global asymptotic stabilization problem of multi-input affine systems on general manifolds. It is known that if the control Lyapunov-Morse function (CLMF) satisfies some assumptions, the controlled system is globally asymptotically stabilizable via the discontinuous feedback law derived from the CLMF. However, in some cases we cannot find CLMFs satisfying the assumption. In this paper, we perturb original CLMF and we change over the feedback laws derived from the original and perturbed CLMF under some rules. Moreover, a condition of global asymptotic stability of controlled system with feedback law is also obtained.

This paper proposes an intelligent massage control system by using multi-fingered robot hand with hybrid impedance control, which is able to create the movement and the force of robot such as the human's massage. Therefore, the various massage points, such as the change of the stiffness of human skin muscle, can be controlled by using impedance control method. The hybrid impedance control is comprised of the two methods of the position-based and the force-based impedance control were applied. The position-based impedance control is used to control the lateral position of massage on the human skin muscle. On the other hand, the force-based impedance control is used to control the force of the vertical direction on human skin muscle. This paper also gives the identification of human skin muscle through robot perception of impedance to decide the parameter of impedance controller. The control strategy using impedance control to implement an adaptive control system is presented, when human condition is changed with soft and hard skin muscle. Effectiveness of massage control system by using multi- fingered robot hand with hybrid impedance control is demonstrator through actual massage experiments of pushing and rubbing motion.

This paper proposes an intelligent massage control system by using multi-fingered robot hand with hybrid impedance and force control, which is able to create the movement and force of robot to behave as similar as the human's massage. Therefore, the various massage points, such as the changing of hardness and softness of human skin muscle condition, can be appropriately controlled by using hybrid impedance and force control method. The impedance control is used to control the lateral position of massage on the human skin muscle. The perpendicular direction one, while force control is carried out for the vertical direction on human skin muscle. This paper also gives a modeling of human skin muscle through robot perception of impedance to decide the parameter of impedance controller. The control strategy using a hybrid impedance and force control to implement an adaptive control system is presented, when human condition is changed with soft and hard skin muscle. For the robot fingertip force, PI servo compensation is used together with impedance control. Based on using both impedance and PI servo compensation, the effectiveness of the massage position and force control is shown through actual massage motion experiments.

This paper presents eigenvector algorithms (EVAs) for blind deconvolution (BD) of multiple-input multiple-output infinite impulse response (MIMO-IIR) channels (convolutive mixtures). Using the idea of reference signals, the EVA is derived. Differently from the conventional researches on EVAs, one of the novel points of the paper is that the EVA using any reference signal is applied to the BD problem of the MIMO-IIR system, and then the validity of the EVA is shown.
