Industry 4.0 has drawn the attention of researchers around the world for its potential ability to increase competitiveness of the companies that can use it. Although much research has emphasized the technological aspect, little attention has been paid to the challenges and opportunities that the companies which intend to implement it expect to face. Based on secondary data this paper involved a research made with 135 companies in Ireland, 246 in Brazil and 305 in Argentina, to study the expected benefits and internal and external barriers that these 686 have in relation to the implementation of Industry 4.0. The practical implication and originality of this study is to present common points and some differences that these companies have, so researchers can guide their studies to try to overcome the main barriers, improving potential opportunities and helping to link research with practice more effectively. © 2019, Computers and Industrial engineering. This study presents an integrated view of the proposals of the government plans and strategies in urban mobility, participating in an election for the Mayor of a municipality in São Paulo. As people are disenchanted due to the complaints and inconsistencies of political and management models, there is the opportunity to implement an integrated management model, using the Open Government Partnerships and Lean Practices, structured in Network Operations with concepts intersectionality, decentralization and participation, including the actions necessary to conduct this pre-election process, integrating the government plans and strategies, if it succeeds in the election. Using action research methodology, literature surveys, interviewing techniques and qualitative research, structured the concept of City dimensions, including urban mobility, integrating the technology, communications and databases by entering the citizens in the city with structures management and government, transparent, ethical, participatory and innovative.

This work discusses waste paper generation in IT environments and the need to reduce the output of reports, source codes and forms in Brazilian governmental institutions to carry out a true policy of sustainability. Green IT is tackled from the premise that paper is the most bulky solid waste daily generated by informatics and the most easily controllable by people. The authors explain a green IT management model which combines finance and cleaner production so that it makes possible to rescue ethical values little remembered today at governmental level, thus keeping public treasury. Present work also explains the mathematics of the model including a preliminar simulation to clarify basic ideas. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2014.

Present article gives continuity to the elaboration of the infotercio financial model proposed as an alternative to implementing environmental management systems in governmental institutions based on the emission reduction of printed reports, source codes and forms originated from IT activities. It discusses procedures of green IT certification for managers and governmental institutions derived from ISO 14000 family and People CMM, combining both in a new set of requirements. Also it summarizes the reasons for such a certification system, noting that waste paper is now a major global problem, not only in terms of direct environmental impacts but from the point of view of the unreasonable and unnecessary use of paper in governmental business processes, generating high costs, mismanagements and time losses, at the same time causing reduction in the available physical space in corporate environments and increase in fuel consumption for transport. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2014.

This article aims to propose an application of coaching in agrienergy sector. Given the visible growth in demand for renewable energy sources, and the related need to training professionals to deal with the challenges of this branch of agribusiness, the study shows how the coach, the person who pursues coaching, can act to aid those individuals that have potential to exercise leadership in management of agrienergy. This article presents the possible contributions of production engineering to solidarity economy as regards projects and organization of work. The authors present logistics as the main channel of introduction to planning and organizing solidarity economy, seeking to show that the participation of production engineering leads to a breakage of some strains marked by neoliberalism, making evident the need of serious ecological concerns within the scope of the projects in that sector towards a cleaner production. The authors also point out the impossibility of development of solidarity economy programs without well mapped processes that include environmental impact evaluations and environmental education as pillars of sustainability in any development program. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2014.
