He was subsequently employed at General Dynamics/Electric Boat Division Groton Connecticut where he held positions in their Planning Department as a planning engineer for FBM Submarine Construction and in the Mechanical Division as a design engineer. Motherway went to the Naval Ship Engineering Center Washington D. C. in March of 1966 with the Submarine Hydraulics Section of the Hull Design Branch where he participated in the design of submarine hydraulic systems. He later transferred to the Ocean Engineering Section of the Deck Systems Branch where he participated in design related to deep submergence vehicles and ocean salvage and retrieval systems. During this period at NavSEC he received his Master Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of America Washington D. C. From April 1970 to May 1971 he was with the Undersea Long-Range Missile System (ULMS) Submarine Design Development Office in the capacity of Assistant Subsystem Design Director. Currently he is the Senior Project Engineer for the ULMS program at the office of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair Groton Connecticut. He is a member of ASNE and ASE. S. R. Following typical shipyard duty during World War II he received postgraduate instruction at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology leading to the degrees of Naval Engineer and Doctor of Science in Naval Architecture. Since then he has had design responsibilities in the Bureau of Ships had a maintenance assignment with the Fleet directed structural research at the David Taylor Model Basin engaged in submarine design and construction at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and is now Head of Hull Design in the Bureau of Ships. Captain Heller is a member of ASNE SNAME Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi. Mr. Fioriti is the Materials Engineer in the Hull Scientific and Research Section Bureau of Ships with responsibility for materials and fabrication processes that are used in the construction of ship hulls. Mr. Fioriti attended the University of Pittsburgh receiving the Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1951. He took postgraduate work at the University of Maryland receiving the Master of Science degree in 1960. From 1951 to 1956 he worked in the Metals and Metallurgy Section of the Bureau of Ships where he planned and administered research programs on metals for ships. He was associated intimately with the development of HY-80 steel and prepared the first specification used for its procurement by the Navy. In addition he was responsible for the development of dimpled armor plate for aircraft carrier flight decks. In 1956 he assumed his present position where he has been active in the Ship Structure Committee research program the low cycle fatigue structural program and the hydrofoil materials research program. Ayyub.:is a Professor of Civil Enginnering and the Director of the Center for Technology and Systems Management at the University of Maryland (College Park). He is also a researcher and consultant in the areas of structural engineering inspection methods and practices reliability and risk analysis. He completed his B.S. degree in civil engineering in 1980 and completed both the M.S. (1981) and Ph.D. (1983) in civil engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Ayyub has an extensive background in uncertainty modeling and marine structural reliability marine structures uncertainty modeling and anaylsis and mathematical medeling using the theories of probability statistics and fuzzy sets. He has completed several research projects that were funded by the NSF USCG USN the USACE ASME and several engineering companies. Dr. Ayyub served the engineering community in various capacities through societies that include ASNE ASCE ASME SNAME IEEECS and NAFIPS. He is the authour and co-author of about 250 publications in journals and conference proceedings and reports. His publications include edited books textbooks and book chapters. Dr. Ayyub is the only double recipient of the ASNE “Jimmie” Hamilton Award for the best papers in the Naval Engineers Journal in 1985 and 1992. Currently he is Head of the Ship Type Combat System Integration Branch (Code-6141) Naval Sea Systems Command. Prior to his present appointment he served as Radar Branch Head in the former Naval Ship Engineering Center (NA VSEC) and was responsible for development and production of shipboard radars such as the AN/SPS-48 AN/SPS-49 AN/SPS-52 and AN/SPS-55. His primary Navy Radar and Combat System experience was attained during his earlier career in the Navy's Bureau of Ships where he was the AN/SPS-48 Radar Project Manager as well as the Navy Tactical Data System Data Processing and Display Project Engineer - a total of twenty years of Navy Radar and NTDS experience. In addition to ASNE which he joined in 1977 he is a member of IEEE and ASE and has had several technical papers published on Radar Radar Processing and Transmission Lines. Mr. Bradford E. Kruger:is a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at ITT Gilfillan Los Angeles Calif. He received his B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley in 1955 and 1956 respectively and has been with Gilfillan since then. 作者: DANGEL, R BRICE, AE The Authors A. Edward Brice was born and educated in Scotland where he graduated from the James Watt Memorial College and Paisley Technical College. His earliest marine engineering experience was obtained at Scotts's Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Limited from 1952 to 1959 where he was involved in the production and design of steam and diesel machinery plants for both Naval and commercial ships. During a five year stay in Canada Mr. Brice gained diversified experience in industries other than marine such as petrochemical plants and steel mills. He moved to the U.S. in 1964 where he was the design supervisor in charge of marine engineering at NASSCO covering new construction for American President Lines AFS type ships for the U.S. Navy Project Mohole Car Ferries for the State of Washington and 17 LST's for the U.S. Navy. During the contract definition phase of the DD-963 Mr. Brice authored several portions of the technical proposal while employed by Litton industries. He was also responsible for the system and detail design including the technical management of sub-contracts for the steam propulsion plant for the LHA 1 Class ships. Mr. Brice has been active in the Washington area for the last ten years performing marine engineering projects for the U.S. Navy. His principal interest since 1974 has been in shipboard energy conservation. He assisted in the development of the NavySTMSYS program and later in the operational verification aboard FF-1074. Mr. Brice has conducted four SECA T visits aboard ships with 1200 PSI steam plants and has recently completed an at-sea visit aboard on AOR with a 600 PSI steam plant. Richard Dangel was bom in New York City. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Sloan School of Industrial Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1955. He has also completed graduate work for a Masters in Engineering Administration at George Washington University.
