Study on the exchange bias (H ex ) switching in a ferromagnet (FM)/antiferromagnet (AFM) bilayer driven by the spin-orbit torque (SOT) has been an explicit research field and current focus has been devoted to determining the approaches to drive the H ex switching along with specific SOT applications. H ex is magnetically dominant but only reveals the partial facet of IrMn, which is only responsible for the ferromagnetic component at the interface of AFM. Therefore, the complete facet of AFM and its interaction with SOT at an FM/AFM interface is still not fully uncovered. This research reports an SOT-driven hidden order transition behind H ex in a heavy metal (Pt)/FM (Co)/AFM (IrMn) trilayer along with the issue of switching activity at Co/IrMn interface. The exchange coupling across Co/IrMn interface allows a long-range spin order in the form of an exchange-spring configuration, yielding two kinds of order in IrMn: a canting-induced ferromagnetic order for hosting H ex and a hidden Néel order for preserving the antiferromagnetic nature. The former appears to be strongly coupled to the magnetization state of Co during the SOT switching, so it can be reversibly switched with Co on the H ex switching. On the contrary, the hidden Néel order transition re-orientated to the current direction appears to be irreversibly driven by SOT and independent on the current polarity, which can reflect on the magnetoresistance (MR) measurement and X-ray magnetic linear dichroism (XMLD) spectroscopy. Finally, a micromagnetic simulation reveals the dynamic IrMn spins are mainly based on a canting type interface instead of an uncompensated type via an exchange-spring coupling with Co.

Non-conformance cost is one of the key performance indicators in determining the success of executing a project. This study will substantiate the significance of two consecutive fiscal years of non-conformance cost data set in project execution of smart grid. A two-Sample T-Test was used to compare the means of two consecutive years' data sets. All the results of both fiscal years' data set were insignificant. Since it is insignificant, the best recommendation is to thoroughly review the lessons learned from the previous projects and implementation of preventive actions to mitigate or even prevent the occurrence/ reoccurrence of non-conformance and non-conformance costs. A continuous improvement in preventing failures will assure success and increase the profitability margin of the project. © 2023 ACM.

Variable-Speed Teaching-Playback as Real-World Data Augmentation for Imitation Learning

Because imitation learning relies on human demonstrations in hard-to-simulate settings, the inclusion of force control in this method has resulted in a shortage of training data, even with a simple change in speed. Although the field of data augmentation has addressed the lack of data, conventional methods of data augmentation for robot manipulation are limited to simulation-based methods or downsampling for position control. This paper proposes a novel method of data augmentation that is applicable to force control and preserves the advantages of real-world datasets. We applied teaching-playback at variable speeds as real-world data augmentation to increase both the quantity and quality of environmental reactions at variable speeds. An experiment was conducted on bilateral control-based imitation learning using a method of imitation learning equipped with position-force control. We evaluated the effect of real-world data augmentation on two tasks, pick-and-place and wiping, at variable speeds, each from two human demonstrations at fixed speed. The results showed a maximum 55% increase in success rate from a simple change in speed of real-world reactions and improved accuracy along the duration/frequency command by gathering environmental reactions at variable speeds. Defects in gastric progenitor cell differentiation are associated with various gastric disorders, including atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, and gastric cancer. However, the mechanisms underlying the multilineage differentiation of gastric progenitor cells during healthy homeostasis remain poorly understood. Here, using a single-cell RNA sequencing method, Quartz-Seq2, we analyzed the gene expression dynamics of progenitor cell differentiation toward pit cell, neck cell, and parietal cell lineages in healthy adult mouse corpus tissues. Enrichment analysis of pseudotime-dependent genes and a gastric organoid assay revealed that EGFR-ERK signaling promotes pit cell differentiation, whereas NF-κB signaling maintains gastric progenitor cells in an undifferentiated state. In addition, pharmacological inhibition of EGFR in vivo resulted in a decreased number of pit cells. Although activation of EGFR signaling in gastric progenitor cells has been suggested as one of the major inducers of gastric cancers, our findings unexpectedly identified that EGFR signaling exerts a differentiation-promoting function, not a mitogenic function, in normal gastric homeostasis.

Both the timely manufacture of defense systems and their subsequent on-line operability depend upon the availability of component parts. The growing problem of microelectronic component nonavailability is casting a shadow over logistics support to these systems. This paper will discuss the causes of the problem and provide some examples of cases confronted by the DoD logistics community. It will also identify some actions which have been taken in the past to manage the issue as well as initiatives now underway. Finally it will look at what lies ahead.

He received his BS degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology his MS degree in systems management from the University of Southern California and he is a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College. He is also certified as a member of the NavSea's Civilian Material Professional Career Program. Among his previous employments Mr. Light has held engineering and logistics management positions with the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in the Naval Engineering Division the Naval Ship Systems Command Engineering Interface Management Office and the Naval Ship Engineering Center where he served as manager of integrated logistics support for the FFG-7 Ship Design Project Office. He also served as the ILS manager for the CG-47 and DDG-51 ship programs during the design phases of these programs. Mr. Light was also the director of the Acquisition and Logistics Office for Surface Combatants (SEA 91) between 1984 to 1991. Mr. Light has twenty-eight years of experience in surface ship design acquisition maintenance and logistics.

The author describes his observations during twenty-eight years of naval ship design, acquisition and logistics support experience that engineers do not understand logistics or even consider logistics as part of their engineering responsibilities. This paper will explore the reasons why. The paper will also provide reasons why the engineer should understand logistics and why it should become a part of the engineer's responsibilities and lexicon. The paper presents the position that an engineer armed with a knowledge of logistics can do the best job in producing a good supportability design. Recommendations are provided to the naval engineering and logistics communities to increase the logistics knowledge of engineers. Also, the author advocates the development of design techniques to be used by the engineer to produce good supportability designs. The increased role of the engineer in applying supportability design techniques will be required in the future if we are to do more with the planned reductions in the acquisition workforce.

Navy ships must be able to operate anywhere in the world and visit any port unencumbered by environmental restrictions. The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OCNO) has formulated a vision for the environmentally sound ship of the 21st century, which will ensure compliance with environmental requirements applicable to Navy ships, while maintaining fleet effectiveness and readiness. Navy ships generate a variety of solid and liquid wastes and atmospheric emissions. Ships have limited capabilities for holding wastes for offload to shore. Working closely with the OCNO, the Naval Sea systems Command (NavSea) is developing systems, equipment, and procedures to process and manage ship wastes in an environmentally responsible manner. Several pieces of shipboard equipment have been successfully developed to process solid and liquid waste, hazardous materials and ozone-depleting substances (ODSs). The technologies and practices being developed under this program will: ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, significantly reduce the logistic burdens and costs associated with shoreside offload and disposal of ship wastes, implement Navy environmental and occupational safety and health policies, enhance the quality of life aboard ship, and continue the Navy's leadership role in protecting the marine environment.

A Spin-Orbit Torque Switch at Ferromagnet/Antiferromagnet Interface Toward Stochastic or Memristive Applications via Tailoring Antiferromagnetic Ordering

Antiferromagnet (AFM) has currently participated in the spin-orbit torque (SOT) technology due to its great potential to be applied to the field-free SOT switching and to promote the thermal stability of MRAM. However, the effect of varying AFM ordering on the SOT switching and the associated properties is still not comprehensively understood. This work reports how an AFM ordering modifies the strength of Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya-interaction (DMI) in a heavy metal (Pt)/FM (Co)/AFM (IrMn) trilayer and its effects on SOT switching. Increasing the AFM ordering reflects the enhanced exchange bias through increasing IrMn thickness appears to significantly reduce the DMI strength of the trilayer. Controlling the IrMn thickness appears to serve as a unique switch to activate memristivity/stochasticity in the devices via tailoring AFM ordering on exchange bias: The strong AFM ordering via increasing IrMn thickness enables to increase the stability of multi-levels for SOT switching, which promotes the memristivity for neuromorphic application. On the contrary, the weak AFM ordering via reducing IrMn thickness will lead to significant stochasticity for the physically unclonable functionality. This work demonstrates an intrinsic tuning over the AFM ordering will serve as a switch to turn the SOT device into a stochastic/memristive cell to bridge probabilistic and neuromorphic computing. © 2023 The Authors. The gaming industry has changed since advanced technologies and hardware specifications were able to create the possibility of gaming with connective network or known as online gaming. Some communities are accepting positively, and others are contradicted. Thus, there is an urgency to know the insight from their sentiment. The present research extracts 10 thousand sentiments at social media with sentiment text analysis. The text is interpreted into six based emotions namely anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, and surprise. The mining analysis by lexicon valance aware dictionary and sentiment reasoner (VADER) projects the Joy emotions as the domination result with 94.74%. Positive joy expression on online gaming is revealed by extracting the sentiment analysis. In total, ten thousand data were collected from the corpus, which resulted in the happy sentiments that were experienced. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
