The second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally is liver *** treatment of liver cancers depends heavily on the accurate segmentation of liver tumors from CT *** improved method based on U-Net has achieved good perfor-mance for liver tumor segmentation,but these methods can still be *** deal with the problems of poor performance from the original U-Net framework in the segmentation of small-sized liver tumors and the position information of tumors that is seriously lost in the down-sampling process,we propose the Multi-attention Perception-fusion U-Net(MAPFU-Net).We propose the Position ResBlock(PResBlock)in the encoder stage to promote the feature extraction capability of MAPFUNet while retaining the position information regarding liver tumors.A Dual-branch Attention Module(DWAM)is proposed in the skip connections,which narrows the semantic gap between the encoder's and decoder's features and enables the network to utilize the encoder's multi-stage and multi-scale *** propose the Channel-wise ASPP with Atten-tion(CAA)module at the bottleneck,which can be combined with multi-scale features and contributes to the recovery of micro-tumor feature ***,we evaluated MAPFUNet on the LITS2017 dataset and the 3DIRCADB-01 dataset,with Dice values of 85.81 and 83.84%for liver tumor segmentation,which were 2.89 and 7.89%higher than the baseline model,*** experiment results show that MAPFUNet is superior to other networks with better tumor feature representation and higher accuracy of liver tumor *** also extended MAPFUNet to brain tumor segmentation on the BraTS2019 *** results indicate that MAPFUNet performs well on the brain tumor segmentation task,and its Dice values on the three tumor regions are 83.27%(WT),84.77%(TC),and 76.98%(ET),respectively.

The HVAC system, energy storage building, distributed power supply, and other equipment are integrated into the scheduling algorithm, which is aimed at reducing household electricity consumption. It is also assumed that users can provide energy to the grid according to their own conditions. Taking electricity cost and comfort level as optimization targets, a home energy optimization control model for the coordinated management of hybrid energy sources is built. A smart scheduling mechanism based on the improved adaptive particle swarm optimization approach is proposed in order to derive the best time intervals for electric appliances, necessary power for the control of the room temperature for every time frame, and power for charging and discharging of the storage battery at various moments. Simulation results show that through the incorporation of distributed photovoltaic power generation, backup storage by battery, and home energy optimization control, the system efficiently balances between user comfort and electricity consumption. This offers great technical support to the development of home energy management systems. By using time-of-use electricity price for energy acquisition and supply, the optimization control goal is minimizing both power use and cost as well as preserving comfort levels. The hybrid energy management's proposed home energy optimization control model uses an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm to find the optimal operation schedules of the electrical appliances, the required power for temperature control in a room, and the charge/discharge power level of the storage battery at each time interval. As per the optimization principle, the proposed dynamic programming algorithm converts the multi-stage problem into a sequence of single-stage problems and solves them separately. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have found extensive applications across various fields, significantly enhancing the convenience in our daily lives. Hence, an in-creasing number of researchers are directing their attention toward the performance of sensor nodes, with a particular emphasis on addressing the coverage challenges in WSNs. Node coverage plays a crucial role in determining the detection performance of WSNs, making it imperative to attain maximum coverage with a given number of sensor nodes. This paper applies the Tumbleweed Algorithm (TA) to the coverage problem in WSNs and validates its effectiveness through simulation experiments. The results demonstrate its unique advantages in global search and avoiding local optima, providing a new solution for the WSN coverage problem and offering valuable references for future research and practical applications. The TA algorithm simulates the lifecycle of tumbleweed from seedling to mature plant and includes the concept of growth cycles. This paper compares the TA algorithm with PSO, GWO, DE, BOA, SCA, and AOA, setting different numbers of wireless sensor nodes and varying sensing radii for the experiments. The experimental results show that the TA algorithm significantly improves coverage rates under various configurations and consistently outperforms other commonly used algorithms. © 2025, Taiwan Ubiquitous information CO LTD. PVDM-YOLOv8l: a solution for reliable pedestrian and vehicle detection in autonomous vehicles under adverse weather conditions

Ensuring the safe navigation of autonomous vehicles in intelligent transportation system depends on their ability to detect pedestrians and vehicles. While transformer-based models for object detection have shown remarkable advancements, accurately identifying pedestrians and vehicles in adverse weather conditions remains a challenging task. Adverse weather introduces image quality degradation, leading to issues such as low contrast, reduced visibility, blurred edges, false detection, misdetection of tiny objects, and other impediments that further complicate the accuracy of detection. This paper introduces a novel Pedestrian and Vehicle Detection Model under adverse weather conditions, denoted as PVDM-YOLOv8l. In our proposed model, we first incorporate the Swin-Transformer method, which is designed for global extraction of feature of small objects to identify in poor visibility, into the YOLOv8l backbone structure. To enhance detection accuracy and address the impact of inaccurate features on recognition performance, CBAM is integrated between the neck and head networks of YOLOv8l, aiming to gather crucial information and obtain essential data. Finally, we adopted the loss function Wise-IOU v3. This function was implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of low-quality instances by minimizing negative gradients. Additionally, we enhanced and augmented the DAWN dataset and created a custom dataset, named DAWN2024, to cater to the specific requirements of our study. To verify the superiority of PVDM-YOLOV8l, its performance was compared against several commonly used object detectors, including YOLOv3, YOLOv3-tiny, YOLOv3-spp, YOLOv5, YOLOv6, and all the versions of YOLOv8 (n, m, s, l, and x) and some traditional models. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model achieved a 6.6%, 5.4%, 6%, and 5.1% improvement in precision, recall, F1-score and mean Average Precision (mAP) on the custom DAWN2024 dataset. What is the widest community in which a person exercises a strong impact? Although extensive attention has been devoted to searching communities containing given individuals, the problem of finding their unique communities of influence has barely been examined. In this paper, we study the novel problem of Characteristic cOmmunity Discovery (COD) in attributed graphs. Our goal is to identify the largest community, taking into account the query attribute, in which the query node has a significant impact. The key challenge of the COD problem is that it requires evaluating the influence of the query node over a large number of hierarchically structured communities. We first propose a novel compressed COD evaluation approach to accelerate the influence estimation by eliminating redundant computations for overlapping communities. Then, we further devise a local hierarchical reclustering method to alleviate the skewness of hierarchical communities generated by global clustering for a specific query attribute. Extensive experiments confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of our solutions to COD: they find characteristic communities better than existing community search methods by several quality measures and achieve up to 25 x speedups against well-crafted baselines. © 2024 IEEE.

In wireless body sensor networks (WBSNs), ensuring secure and efficient key distribution is critical, particularly given the limited computational and energy resources of the sensors. Existing methods often struggle to balance security with these resource constraints, especially in environments involving physiological data such as acceleration (ACC) and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. For the first time, this study proposes a novel hybrid approach that integrates fuzzy commitment with ACC signal noise and ECG features for efficient key generation and distribution in WBSNs. By employing a low-pass filter to process ACC signal noise, we generated highly random binary sequences (BSs), leveraging the inherent randomness of the signal for secure key generation. Concurrently, an optimized coding scheme was built for ECG feature construction to ensure secure key distribution between devices. Extensive experiments, including entropy analysis and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) statistical tests, confirm the robustness and security of our method. The proposed scheme achieves a false acceptance rate (FAR) of 5.23%, demonstrating superior performance across multiple databases in comparison to benchmark approaches. This novel dual-key generation strategy that combines the unpredictability of ACC noise with the individual-specific traits of ECG signals can significantly enhance the security, applicability, and versatility of WBSNs. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Stroke and related neurological disorders are difficult to classify accurately, hence new computational approaches are needed to enhance diagnosis. In order to transform the categorization of brain strokes, this study presents Neuro-Xception, a novel framework that combines the Xception architecture with Extreme Learning Machines (ELM). The rapid learning speed and enhanced generalisation capability of ELMs are combined with the feature extraction expertise of Xception to create Neuro-Xception. Through training on large neuroimaging datasets, Neuro-Xception learns complex patterns that are essential for differentiating between different types and intensities of stroke. By means of extensive testing on various datasets, Neuro-Xception exhibits notable gains in performance compared to traditional techniques, indicating its potential to revolutionise stroke detection in medical environments. Furthermore, Neuro-Xception's scalability and flexibility are enhanced by the combination of Xception and ELMs, which makes it a viable tool for real-time clinical decision support systems and personalised medicine. This study highlights how merging Xception and ELMs can revolutionise neurological healthcare and this development could lead to more accurate and efficient diagnostic techniques for treating stroke patients. Neuro-Xception offers a potential path for increasing diagnosis accuracy and expediting timely medical intervention. It is a major step forward in the use of artificial intelligence to enhance patient outcomes and advance the profession of stroke care. © 2024 IEEE.

Vehicle-to-vehicle communication is one of the new paradigms of networking, which should be secure, fast, and efficient. In this paper, we propose a framework that implements the pseudonym-based authentication scheme in which communication among vehicles is encrypted by using a matrix array symmetric key (MASK), digital signature algorithm (DSA), and intelligent water drop (IWD). The proposed security scheme also ensures the handling of many security attacks like key-guessing, non-repudiation, replay, and modification. In the proposed scheme, to preserve the identity of the vehicle, we have provided the different pseudonyms for each vehicle in the network that ensure secure communication among vehicles. Furthermore, the proposed delay minimisation cover tree algorithm ensures the issue of timed delay during vehicle-to-vehicle communication. In this algorithm, we have used Dijkstra’s algorithm for finding the optimal shortest path during vehicular communication. The results obtained show that the proposed scheme is effective and efficient, as it reduces the time delay by 4% for 140 vehicle nodes and 28.4% for 1000 vehicle nodes.
