An improved efficient adaptive method for large-scale multiexplosives explosion simulations

Shock wave caused by a sudden release of high-energy,such as explosion and blast,usually affects a significant range of *** utilization of a uniform fine mesh to capture sharp shock wave and to obtain precise results is inefficient in terms of computational *** is particularly evident when large-scale fluid field simulations are conducted with significant differences in computational domain *** this work,a variable-domain-size adaptive mesh enlargement(vAME)method is developed based on the proposed adaptive mesh enlargement(AME)method for modeling multi-explosives explosion *** vAME method reduces the division of numerous empty areas or unnecessary computational domains by adaptively suspending enlargement operation in one or two directions,rather than in all directions as in AME method.A series of numerical tests via AME and vAME with varying nonintegral enlargement ratios and different mesh numbers are simulated to verify the efficiency and order of *** estimate of speedup ratio is analyzed for further efficiency *** large-scale near-ground explosion experiments with single/multiple explosives are performed to analyze the shock wave superposition formed by the incident wave,reflected wave,and Mach ***,the vAME method is employed to validate the accuracy,as well as to investigate the performance of the fluid field and shock wave propagation,considering explosive quantities ranging from 1 to 5 while maintaining a constant total *** results show a satisfactory correlation between the overpressure versus time curves for experiments and numerical *** vAME method yields a competitive efficiency,increasing the computational speed to 3.0 and approximately 120,000 times in comparison to AME and the fully fine mesh method,*** indicates that the vAME method reduces the computational cost with minimal impact on the results for such large-scale high-energy release problems with signi

We exhibit that, when given a classical Byzantine agreement protocol designed in the private-channel model, it is feasible to construct a quantum agreement protocol that can effectively handle a full-information adversary. Notably, both protocols have equivalent levels of resilience, round complexity, and communication complexity. In the classical private-channel scenario, participating players are limited to exchanging classical bits, with the adversary lacking knowledge of the exchanged messages. In contrast, in the quantum full-information setting, participating players can exchange qubits, while the adversary possesses comprehensive and accurate visibility into the system’s state and messages. By showcasing the reduction from quantum to classical frameworks, this paper demonstrates the strength and flexibility of quantum protocols in addressing security challenges posed by adversaries with increased visibility. It underscores the potential of leveraging quantum principles to improve security measures without compromising on efficiency or resilience. By applying our reduction, we demonstrate quantum advantages in the round complexity of asynchronous Byzantine agreement protocols in the full-information model. It is well known that in the full-information model, any classical protocol requires Ω(n) rounds to solve Byzantine agreement with probability one even against Fail-stop adversary when resilience t = Θ(n) [2]. We show that quantum protocols can achieve O(1) rounds (i) with resilience t 0, therefore surpassing the classical lower bound. © Longcheng Li, Xiaoming Sun, and Jiadong Zhu.

Learning-Driven Dynamic Multimodal Optimization Algorithm for Real-Time Traceability of Water Pollution

In recent years, water quality safety problems caused by sudden urban drinking water contamination events have attracted the attention of experts in china and abroad. After an occurrence of urban water pollution, it is challenging to locate the pollution source in real time according to the information collected by water quality sensors and then quickly deduce the injection location, injection concentration quality, and other characteristics of the pollution source. In this article, we propose a learning-driven dynamic multimodal optimization algorithm framework that combines various machine learning algorithms. First, it uses the support vector machine (SVM) model to scale down and perform node probability estimation for a large-scale water supply pipeline network. Second, by predicting the uncertainty parameters of the pipe network when setting the pipe network simulation parameters, the framework can narrow the gap between simulation and real conditions, giving the pollution source characteristics obtained by the algorithm solution a higher confidence level. The experimental results show that the algorithm framework can achieve real-time traceability of water pollution for large-scale, uncertain pipe network environments, and can obtain better accuracy and real-time performance than other dynamic algorithms. © 2020 IEEE.

With the rapid development of emerging photovoltaics technology in recent years,the application of building-integrated photovoltaics(BIPVs)has attracted the research interest of photovoltaic *** meet the practical application requirements of BIPVs,in addition to the evaluation indicator of power conversion efficiency(PCE),other key performance indicators such as heat-insulating ability,average visible light transmittance(AVT),color properties,and integrability are equally *** traditional Si-based photovoltaic technology is typically limited by its opaque properties for application scenarios where transparency is *** emerging PV technologies,such as organic and perovskite photovoltaics are promising candidates for BIPV applications,owing to their advantages such as high PCE,high AVT,and tunable *** present,the PCE of semitransparent perovskite solar cells(ST-PSCs)has attained 14%with AVT of 22–25%;for semitransparent organic solar cells(ST-OSCs),the PCE reached 13%with AVT of almost 40%.In this review article,we summarize recent advances in material selection,optical engineering,and device architecture design for high-performance semitransparent emerging PV devices,and discuss the application of optical modeling,as well as the challenges of commercializing these semitransparent solar cells for building-integrated applications.

A Hybrid Parallel Strategy for Isogeometric Topology Optimization via CPU/GPU Heterogeneous Computing

This paper aims to solve large-scale and complex isogeometric topology optimization problems that consumesignificant computational resources. A novel isogeometric topology optimization method with a hybrid parallelstrategy of CPU/GPU is proposed, while the hybrid parallel strategies for stiffness matrix assembly, equationsolving, sensitivity analysis, and design variable update are discussed in detail. To ensure the high efficiency ofCPU/GPU computing, a workload balancing strategy is presented for optimally distributing the workload betweenCPU and GPU. To illustrate the advantages of the proposedmethod, three benchmark examples are tested to verifythe hybrid parallel strategy in this paper. The results show that the efficiency of the hybrid method is faster thanserial CPU and parallel GPU, while the speedups can be up to two orders of magnitude.

Characterization of the interfacial structure and fracture behavior of in situ synthesized ceramics to reinforce Ni-based composite coatings

This work used the in-situ synthesis of molten-state nitride ceramic phase-reinforced Ni-based alloy coat-ings,aiming to improve the phase-interface bonding through the interdependent co-solidification be-tween molten *** XRD was used to analyze the physical phases of the composite *** microstructure and phase-interface structure were characterized in detail by combining SEM,TEM,HRTEM,FFT,and SAED *** tester and microforce microhardness tester were em-ployed to measure the surface hardness and elastic modulus of the composite *** fracture be-havior of the composite coatings was characterized by observing the fracture morphology of the coatings using SEM combined with the EDS *** was found that the formation mechanisms of inter-facial misfit dislocation assistance,lattice distortion,aggregation of stacking faults,and specific growth orientation between the y-Ni matrix phase and each ceramic phase in NiCrBSi-TiCrN composite coat-ings improved the lattice matching between the two-phase interface,which resulted in the formation of atomically corresponding coherent lattice relations and stepped interfacial semi-coherent lattice relations,and enhanced the degree of phase-interface *** this basis,the composite coatings with high Cr content further inhibited the expansion of interphase penetration cracks due to the existence of Cr-rich zones at the phase interface,thus exhibiting high fracture *** work provides new opinions on the improvement of phase-interface bonding and composition design of Ni-based composite coatings.

Enhancing the Strength of Medium Mn Steel by Flash Treatment

As a representative of the third generation advanced high-strength steels(AHSSs),medium Mn steels(MMS)have broad development prospects in the field of automobile *** with typical austenite reversion treatment have a soft duplex microstructure,***+austenite,presenting a high ductility but a low yield *** we show that a flash heating and cooling after austenite reversion treatment can replace the ferrite with strong martensite,which greatly enhances the yield strength of a 0.25C-4Mn steel by about 461–886 *** adjusting the reversion temperature before the flash treatment,the C and Mn concentrations of reverted austenite can be altered,which determine the fraction of reverted austenite surviving the flash *** addition,the mechanical stability of final retained austenite is also linked to the reversion temperature,resulting different work hardening behaviors due to transformation induced plasticity(TRIP)*** tweaking the reversion temperature before the flash treatment,an optimized combination of strength and ductility can be *** micromechanical differences caused by the replacement of the matrix are also investigated via in-situ digital image correlation method.
