Enhancing Wear resistance of AISI 304 Steels Using WC–Co/SiC HVOF Thermal Spray Coatings

This study investigates the effects of varied WC–Co/SiC high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coating compositions on the microstructural, mechanical, and wear properties of AISI 304 stainless steel. Microstructure evolution, phase composition, hardness distribution, and wear resistance were investigated using a series of coatings with increasing SiC content (from pure WC–Co to a WC–Co/SiC mix with 75% SiC). A gradual change from WC–Co-dominant microstructures in Sample A to SiC-rich structures in Sample E was observed by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). This change was correlated with different surface morphologies and compositional features, confirmed by SEM–EdS analysis. Key phases with different intensities and peak broadening across samples were identified by X-ray diffraction (Xrd), including WC, Co, SiC, and Fe₃C. Because of the harder SiC matrix, hardness profiles indicated that surface hardness increased with increasing SiC concentrations, peaking in Samples d and E. However, locally distributed brittleness was observed in coatings that were heavily SiC-dominated. While higher SiC content in Samples C through E resulted in slightly elevated wear rates, most likely due to increased brittleness, wear analysis showed that Sample B (WC–Co 75% & SiC 25%) had a decrease in wear rate, indicating an ideal composition for enhanced wear resistance. SEM examination of the worn surfaces revealed unique wear mechanisms, ranging from brittle fracture and microcracking in SiC-rich samples to plastic deformation in WC–Co-dominant samples. The study shows that while modest SiC additions to WC–Co coatings improve hardness and wear resistance in concert, too much SiC content may reduce durability because of brittleness. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2025.

Federated Learning (FL) has evolved into a decentralized Machine Learning (ML) paradigm with a high potential for enabling model training across various Edge devices (Ed) to conserve data privacy. This survey explores the challenges and future directions of implementing FL in edge computing environments. This Comprehensive review addresses key technical challenges, including the heterogeneity of edge devices, resource constraints, security and privacy concerns, and communication overhead. To guide future research, this study highlights several promising research directions, including advanced model aggregation techniques, edge device optimization, cross-domain federated learning applications, robust security and privacy frameworks, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, This study reviews various Federated Learning methods-such as Federated Averaging (FedAvg), Federated Learning with Secure Aggregation (FedSecAgg), Hierarchical Federated Learning, and Peer-to-Peer Federated Learning-discussing their strengths, weaknesses, and suitable use cases. Finally, this review paper presents benchmarking results using standard datasets and performance metrics, comparing these approaches' efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and privacy preservation. This systematic review renders a broad perspective on the current trends and developments in federated Learning for edge computing, this analysis enlightenments researchers and Professionals with practical experience. © 2024 IEEE.

during natural disasters, breakdowns in the infrastructure based communication systems often hinder emergency response efforts, leading to loss of life. To address this challenge, we propose an emergency communication system utilizing Lora modules, capable of operating without cellular towers or base stations. Our system aims to provide fast and reliable communication in challenging environments where infrastructure is compromised. By efficiently connecting victims with emergency management organizations, the system increases the likelihood of saving lives and facilitates faster rescue operations. Users can connect to this network to exchange information and access vital services. The system also includes emergency services integration, enabling coordination and data dissemination during critical moments. Key features of the system include real-time communication, data sharing, and location tracking, enhancing situational awareness and aiding in rescue efforts. Overall, the designed emergency communication system offers a comprehensive solution to address communication challenges during disasters. Its adaptability and resilience make it suitable for various emergency scenarios, ranging from natural disasters to large-scale accidents. In the present script, we explain the neutrosophic α(γ,β)-continuous function in the neutrosophic topological spaces. We analyze their behaviour;study the various relations and properties existing among them. Further we like to extend the study to neutrosophic α(γ,β)-open function,α(γ,β) -closed function, neutrosophic -(γne,αβ) irresolute functions and neutrosophic α(γ,β)- homeomorphism in the neutrosophic topological spaces. The relationship among them can be studied in detail. The neutrosophic (γne,αβ)-continuous function, neutrosophic (γne,αβ)-open(closed) function, neutrosophic αγ-limit point, neutrosophic αγ-derived set and neutrosophic αγ-neighbourhood point are explained and utilized to obtain various remarkable properties. Over the decades, breast cancer has played distressing metamorphoses due to the vigorous increase in successive rates of malignancy among the women's community. As per the medical statistics, breast cancer became the second leading life-threatening cancer next to lung cancer. However, the survival rate of the cancer patients could be increased up to 10 years, provided the disease has been identified at an initial stage. Imaging plays a crucial role for breast cancer screening, and those images are more likely degraded by noises such as electromagnetic radiation (EMr), electronic noises, and environmental noises. This makes the oncology experts very challenging to identify the precise tumor location in medical images. Hence, this research mainly focuses on denoising the EMr noises of different intensity levels, such as 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2, using the improved Kuan adaptive spatial filter (IKASF) in the mammogram, ultrasound, and histopathology images. In order to analyze the image quality of the denoised image, the parameters such as mean square error (MSE), peak signal to noise ratio (PSNr), and structural similarity index (SSIM) have been measured and compared with the other modality images. The study reveals that the proposed filter improves the quality measures on sample multimodal images around 90%, 50.5%, and 80%, respectively, in comparison with the linear and nonlinear denoising techniques such as mean, median, gaussian, bilateral guided median (BGM), and kuan. The enhanced images using IKASF could be used to develop the artificial intelligence model for the automated process of tumor segmentation and classification problem, thereby improving the false positive and false negative ratios during the clinical trials. © 2025 IEEE.

The purpose of this research was to improve the safety and performance by reducing the weight of the on-road vehicles with the utilization of reinforced sandwich composite material in automotive doors and panels. By this research conducted, the vehicle guarantees safety, since the dominant force works on bumpers and doors at the moment of impact and the possibility that sandwich panels will be put within the passenger seat, meaning that the safety of the user will be improved and the impact will be maximized. From the results, mechanical vibrations frequencies of Nomex, polyurethane and polypropylene honeycomb core structures showed 10% deviation when compared with the experimental results. With the implementation of the proposed sandwich panel in various automotive components, the vehicle weight will gradually be reduced, which ensures that the vehicles performance improves naturally. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2023.

Cyber is the word that relates to computer, network and virtual reality. And providing security for these types of system is called cyber security. And this paper discusses about cyber security physical system which is the integration of both hardware and software as there is a possibility of malicious attacks on hardware too because of intervention of IoT devices, where because of these malicious attacks can consume energy of the system or changes the commands for the malfunctioning and everything need to be tracked. The major difference between Cyber security and cyber security physical system is that cyber security is meant for restricting unauthorized access of electronic data and cyber physical security system aims in securing both data as well as IoT devices and other hardware devices from malicious attacks. Cyber security physical system (CSPS) together provides a network, Application, Infrastructure, and IoT security as well as surveillance, access control and testing. The proposed method finds the expected time of failure, malicious attacks on both hardware and software and based on the training. The CSPS system the system able to differentiate the normal command and the command from the attackers, so whenever the doubt arises the CSPS makes those command to wait and if it is secured the command will be executed with a delay or else it will be discarded which protects the system from any types of attackers. And also, the system aims in achieving the higher efficiency through a smaller number of IoTs devices, and also it aims to combinedly use gaming approach, defence strategy with a security supervisor approach to differentiate between the defender and attacker which proves its own efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Almost all of today’s communication techniques employ speech enhancement. It should go without saying that interference from the environment might reduce the quality of speech during transmission. digital speech signal processing includes speech enhancement, which seeks to restore the clean speech from the contaminated signal. different ways for speech enhancement are used depending on the kind of signal deterioration and noise present. The methods discussed in the review vary from single channel speech enhancement methods (statistical model-based approaches, and methods in time and transform domains), multi-channel speech enhancement methods (adaptive noise cancelation and multisensor beamforming), machine learning methods including Convolution Neural Networks, deep Neural Networks, residual Convolution Neural Networks, and speech enhancement methods with optimization techniques. In this paper, we have initiated the study of domination and equitable domination of Neutrosophic graphs using strong arcs. Strong arcs represent the optimal (minimum) degree of truth membership value, the optimal (minimum) degree of indeterminacy membership value, and the non-optimal (maximum) degree of falsity membership value. Hence, the studies of domination and equitable domination using strong arcs have been explored. Upper bounds and minimality conditions for the existence of the introduced parameters were discussed. Extend the studies on strong and weak equitable domination of Neutrosophic graphs and obtain the relationship between domination and the equitable domination parameter. Furthermore, we have provided some theorems based on equitable domination of Neutrosophic graphs and discussed the upper and lower bounds of the strong and weak equitable domination in terms of order and size with other existing domination parameters of Neutrosophic graphs. © (2023), (University of New Mexico). Position sensitive device(PSd)sensor is a vital optical element that is mainly used in tracking systems for visible light communication(VLC).recently,a new reconfigurable PSd architecture *** proposed architecture makes the PSd perform more functions by modifying its *** the PSd is mainly formed of an array of *** primary concept involves employing transistors to alternate between the operating modes of the photodiodes(photoconductive and photovoltaic).Additionally,alternating among output pins can be done based on the required *** paper presents the mathematical modeling and simulation of a reconfigurable-multifunctional optical sensor which can perform energy harvesting and data acquisition,as well as positioning,which is not available in the traditional *** using the MATLAB software tool was achieved to demonstrate the *** simulation results confirmed the validity of the mathematical modeling and proved that the modified sensor architecture,as depicted by the equations,accurately describes its *** proposed sensor is expected to extend the battery's lifecycle,reduce its physical size,and increase the integration and functionality of the *** presented sensor might be used in free space optical(FSO)communication like cube satellites or even in underwater wireless optical communication(UWOC).
