Cervical cytologic screening is clinically important for the prevention and diagnosis of cervical cancer. Aiming at the many challenges in the detection of abnormal cervical cells, including the difficult detection of small targets of abnormal cervical cells, complex backgrounds, and uneven cell morphology, a detection algorithm for abnormal cervical cells based on improved YOLOv7 was proposed. The algorithm utilizes Deformable Convolutional Networks v2 (DCNv2) that adaptively de-tunes the scale and receptive field size to more effectively cope with the complexity and diversity of cervical cell images. The experimental results show that the improved YOLOv7 algorithm mAP achieves 57.26%, up to 73.88% accuracy, and 46.90% recall on the cervical abnormal cell dataset. Compared with the benchmark model, they increased by 4.07%, 3.39%, and 5.69%, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Video frame interpolation is an important low-level vision task, which can increase frame rate for more fluent visual experience. Existing methods have achieved great success by employing advanced motion models and synthesis networks. However, the spatial redundancy when synthesizing the target frame has not been fully explored, that can result in lots of inefficient computation. On the other hand, the computation compression degree in frame interpolation is highly dependent on both texture distribution and scene motion, which demands to understand the spatial-temporal information of each input frame pair for a better compression degree selection. In this work, we propose a novel two-stage frame interpolation framework termed WaveletVFI to address above problems. It first estimates intermediate optical flow with a lightweight motion perception network, and then a wavelet synthesis network uses flow aligned context features to predict multi-scale wavelet coefficients with sparse convolution for efficient target frame reconstruction, where the sparse valid masks that control computation in each scale are determined by a crucial threshold ratio. Instead of setting a fixed value like previous methods, we find that embedding a classifier in the motion perception network to learn a dynamic threshold for each sample can achieve more computation reduction with almost no loss of accuracy. On the common high resolution and animation frame interpolation benchmarks, proposed WaveletVFI can reduce computation up to 40% while maintaining similar accuracy, making it perform more efficiently against other state-of-the-arts. © 1992-2012 IEEE.

Path planning and tracking algorithms are one of the cores of autonomous navigation technology for unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). In this paper, a local obstacle avoidance method based on event-triggered control is proposed to ensure that the UGV avoids obstacles in the tracking process. First, the path planning and tracking control problem of the UGV is modeled and formulated. Second, the improvement and logical correlation of the relevant algorithms are described in detail. Finally, ajoint simulation of MATLAB and V-rep is performed. The simulation results show that event-triggered control can largely improve the reliability of the UGV path planning and tracking process, and verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

To decrease domain shift in cross-domain person re-identification, existing methods generate pseudo labels for training models, however, the inherent distribution between source domain data and the hard quantization loss is ignored. Therefore, a cross-domain person re-identification method based on distribution consistency and multi-label collaborative learning is proposed. Firstly, a soft binary cross-entropy loss function is constructed to constrain the inter-sample relationship of cross-domain transformation, which can ensure the consistency of appearance features and sample distribution, and achieving feature cross-domain alignment. On this basis, in order to suppress the noise of hard pseudo labels, a multi-label collaborative learning network is constructed. The soft pseudo labels are generated by using the collaborative foreground features and global features to guide the network training, making the model adapt to the target domain. This paper presents a new logarithmic-time algorithm which simultaneously assigns labels to all connected components of a binary image in parallel. The irregular graph pyramid of an input binary image is constructed based on the optimized combinatorial structure. The novel small built pyramid has only three levels and is created at worst case with O(log(N2)) complexity for a N× N-sized (2D) binary image. To assign a label to each connected component, instead of the common linear-time raster scan techniques (with complexity O(N2)), only two important movements, namely bottom-up and top-down traversing, are needed. First, in the bottom-up traversing, the redundant connections are removed and the contraction kernels are contracted. This results in a simpler graph at top of the pyramid each of its vertices has a unique label identifying corresponding connected component. Such reduced graph preserves all connecting relations including inclusions. Second, in the top-down traversing, each unique label propagates down into each individual corresponding pixel at the base level. The complexity of the labeling propagation procedure in worst cases is O (log(image - size)). The GPU implementation of the algorithm has high performance and the bottleneck is the bandwidth of the memory or equivalently the number of available independent processing elements. Finally, the experimental results show the proposed algorithm outperforms the other state-of-the-art methods. © 2021 IEEE.

Multi-modal histological image registration tasks pose significant challenges due to tissue staining operations causing partial loss and folding of *** neural network(CNN)and generative adversarial network(GAN)are pivotal inmedical image ***,existing methods often struggle with severe interference and deformation,as seen in histological images of conditions like Cushing’s *** argue that the failure of current approaches lies in underutilizing the feature extraction capability of the discriminator *** this study,we propose a novel multi-modal registration approach GAN-DIRNet based on GAN for deformable histological image *** begin with,the discriminators of two GANs are embedded as a new dual parallel feature extraction module into the unsupervised registration networks,characterized by implicitly extracting feature descriptors of specific ***,modal feature description layers and registration layers collaborate in unsupervised optimization,facilitating faster convergence and more precise ***,experiments and evaluations were conducted on the registration of the Mixed National Institute of Standards and technology database(MNIST),eight publicly available datasets of histological sections and the Clustering-Registration-Classification-Segmentation(CRCS)dataset on the Cushing’s *** results demonstrate that our proposed GAN-DIRNet method surpasses existing approaches like DIRNet in terms of both registration accuracy and time efficiency,while also exhibiting robustness across different image types.

Complex scene generation is an important and challenging image synthesis task. Though latent space based conditional generative methods get impressive results, the accurate locating of objects for more detailed situation and editable contiguous synthesis are still a snag. In addition, previous methods with spatial awareness are easy to lose the location information after a series fusion operation. Focusing on such kind of problems, in this paper we propose an object-wise constraint free and location-lossless way of layout embedding by combining VAE and recent high performance VQGAN to achieve a location accurate and stable synthesis for layouts of complex scene. Instead of conditioning on layout, we apply a pretrained VQGAN to define the latent space and project every region of layout to image latent space directly by aligning their distribution with a novel light Cross-VAE structure. Then the quantization and decoder of VQGAN are reused for synthesis. This VAE plugged into VQGAN framework, which is called Layout-DVGAN in this paper. Experimental results demonstrate our method has competitive performance compared with the approaches which applied explicit spatial awareness way. © 2023 ACM.

To solve the problem of low accuracy of gait recognition in complex scenes, a novel skeleton-based gait recognition algorithm, GCGait, is proposed. Taking human posture as the input of gait feature, the interference caused by wearing changes and other factors is reduced. To extract sufficient input features, multi-branch input is used in the early stage of the model. By introducing the multi-attention mechanism, the network can learn the semantic information of the non-directly connected joints, excavate the most discriminative features from complex videos, and further improve the recognition performance. In order to reduce the influence of cross view, the fusion loss function is used in the experiment. Experimental results show that the average recognition rate of the proposed algorithm on the CASIA-B dataset is improved by 5.2%, and the average recognition accuracy on the OU-MVLP dataset is increased by 66.3%, which proves the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently, many compression algorithms are applied to decrease the cost of video storage and transmission. This will introduce undesirable artifacts, which severely degrade visual quality. Therefore, Video Compression Artifacts Removal (VCAR) aims at reconstructing a high-quality video from its corrupted version of compression. Generally, this task is considered as a vision-related instead of media-related problem. In vision-related research, the visual quality has been significantly improved while the computational complexity and bitrate issues are less considered. In this work, we review the performance constraints of video coding and transfer to evaluate the VCAR outputs. Based on the analyses, we propose a Spatial-Temporal Attention-Guided Enhancement Network (STAGE-Net). First, we employ dynamic filter processing, instead of conventional optical flow method, to reduce the computational cost of VCAR. Second, we introduce self-attention mechanism to design Sequential Residual Attention Blocks (SRABs) to improve visual quality of enhanced video frames with bitrate constraints. Both quantitative and qualitative experimental results have demonstrated the superiority of our proposed method, which achieves high visual qualities and low computational costs. © 2023 IEEE.

DeepFakes blur the boundaries between reality and forgery, resulting in the collapse of exiting credit system, causing immeasurable consequences for national security and social order. Through analysis of existing face forgery techniques, it is found that most generation techniques rely on random noise distribution, and global information will be lost after up sampling. Therefore, we propose a deepfake detection algorithm based on improved MobileViT, which uses CNN local space biasing and the global space representation of the Transformer network to learn the local features and global representation of forged faces, respectively. Coordinate attention is introduced to obtain directional perception and position sensitive information, making the model locate synthetic traces of fake faces better and fusion local and global representation more effectively. For the improved generalization of the model, with the GELU activation function to solve the problem of neuron death. Our model achieved 96.2% on FF++(C23) datasets, and 93.7%,94.1%,96.3%,87.9% on DF, F2F, FS, and NT datasets, respectively. Comparing with previous methods, our model has shown detection robustness and better generalization. © 2023 IEEE.
