In this paper, we propose first-order feasible methods for difference-of-convex (DC) programs with smooth inequality and simple geometric constraints. Our strategy for maintaining feasibility of the iterates is based on a "retraction" idea adapted from the literature of manifold optimization. When the constraints are convex, we establish the global subsequential convergence of the sequence generated by our algorithm under strict feasibility condition, and analyze its convergence rate when the objective is in addition convex according to the Kurdyka-Lojasiewicz (KL) exponent of the extended objective (i.e., sum of the objective and the indicator function of the constraint set). We also show that the extended objective of a large class of Euclidean norm (and more generally, group LASSO penalty) regularized convex optimization problems is a KL function with exponent 1/2;consequently, our algorithm is locally linearly convergent when applied to these problems. We then extend our method to solve DC programs with a single specially structured nonconvex constraint. Finally, we discuss how our algorithms can be applied to solve two concrete optimization problems, namely, group-structured compressed sensing problems with Gaussian measurement noise and compressed sensing problems with Cauchy measurement noise, and illustrate the empirical performance of our algorithms. Frank-Wolfe-type methods for a class of nonconvex inequality-constrained problems

The Frank-Wolfe (FW) method, which implements efficient linear oracles that minimize linear approximations of the objective function over a fixed compact convex set, has recently received much attention in the optimization and machine learning literature. In this paper, we propose a new FW-type method for minimizing a smooth function over a compact set defined as the level set of a single difference-of-convex function, based on new generalized linear-optimization oracles (LO). We show that these LOs can be computed efficiently with closed-form solutions in some important optimization models that arise in compressed sensing and machine learning. In addition, under a mild strict feasibility condition, we establish the subsequential convergence of our nonconvex FW-type method. Since the feasible region of our generalized LO typically changes from iteration to iteration, our convergence analysis is completely different from those existing works in the literature on FW-type methods that deal with fixed feasible regions among subproblems. Finally, motivated by the away steps for accelerating FW-type methods for convex problems, we further design an away-step oracle to supplement our nonconvex FW-type method, and establish subsequential convergence of this variant. Numerical results on the matrix completion problem with standard datasets are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed FW-type method and its away-step variant. Wireless charging has been demonstrated as a promising technology for prolonging device operational lifetimes in Wireless Rechargeable Networks (WRNs). To schedule a mobile charger to move along a predesigned trajectory to charge devices, most existing studies assume that the precise location information of devices is already known. Unfortunately, this assumption does not always hold in real mobile application, because the activities of vast majority of mobile devices carried by mobile agents appear dynamic and random. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to study how to wirelessly charge mobile devices with non-deterministic mobility. We aim to provide effective charging service to them, subject to the energy capacity of the mobile charger. Then, we formalize the effective charging problem as a charging reward maximization problem (CRMP), where the amount of reward obtained by charging a de-vice is inversely proportional to the residual lifetime of the device. To derive an effective charging heuristic, an algorithm based on Reinforcement Learning (RL) is proposed. The evaluation results show that the RL-based charging algorithm achieves excellent charging effectiveness. We further interpret the learned heuristic to gain deep and valuable insights into the design options.

Simulation study on evacuation scenarios has an important influence on public safety. Unfortunately, the traditional evacuation-drill approach for emergency situations focuses on the physiological interaction between individuals/crowds, whereas the approach ignores psychological interaction. In this paper, we present an emotion contagion model that associates components, such as physiological demand, security requirement and personality traits, with individual agents comprising a crowd, and produces emergent behaviours in the crowd as a whole. The emotion contagion model realises the interaction of physiological and psychological factors. Personality traits are associated with emotions by using the OCEAN, OCC and PAD models. To reflect the complexity of emotion contagion of crowd, we consider three processes: contagion, update, and decay. We also consider the effect of emotions on the movement. Testing results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective and realistic for simulating the movement of heterogeneous crowd in emergency situations. © 2018 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The aim of this paper is to compare the safety and quality among farm product cold chain companies. Equipment and facility, logistics environment, personnel quality and process are used to establish the comprehensive index system. Then, because of the uncertainty and fuzziness, a risk prioritization model of farm product cold chain quality and safety based on intuitionistic triangular fuzzy TOPSIS was constructed. A case example was presented to demonstrate the practicality of proposed approach.

This paper studies a Markovian queue with multiple working vacations and controlled vacation interruption. If there are at least N customers waiting upon completion of a service at a lower rate, the vacation is interrupted and the server returns to the system to resume the normal working level. Otherwise, the server continues the vacation until the system is non-empty after a vacation ends or there are at least N customers after a service ends. Moreover, the variable arrival rate of the customers is taken into account. Under such assumptions, by using the quasi-birth-and-death process, the matrix-geometric method and the difference equation theory, the steady-state queue length distribution along with various performance measures are derived. Additionally, under a certain cost structure, the optimal threshold N∗ that minimizes the long-run expected cost function per unit time is numerically determined. © 2015, Association for Scientific Research. With the rapid development of modern economy, which regards satisfying customer demands as its basis, enterprises urgently need to operate effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to gain their market and increase their profit or competitive power. To provide enterprises managers with valuable views on customer management, in this paper we discussed on operation design of CRM, and proposed six operation tactics of CRM, including "senior enterprise leaders support CRM application", "integrate CRM strategies with corporate culture", "customer-oriented management system", "train staff to learn CRM knowledge", "enhance data quality of CRM system" and "protect customer information privacy". The proposed tactics will be helpful for practical operation of customer management system effectively.

In this paper, we present a novel carried object detection method based on the key postures which is extracted through locating the key point on the gait cycle curve. The key postures which are conducive to detect the carried object are the silhouettes in sequence. Different carried type is corresponding to the different key postures. For each key posture, the deviation between the reference axis and the center line and the variance of the lower-limb width are adopted to represent features. We test our method on two databases. The results show that the method based on key postures can not only reduce the computation, but also represent features very accurately, and our method is effective.

As a thriving travel business, disabled accessible tourism has been getting more and more attention from related stakeholders in the market since the introduction of its concept and its development in China. Tourism attraction and tourism enterprises are acknowledged as the stakeholders who the disabled tourism, if taken as a product, contacts with directly while being served and sold. Therefore, this paper constructs an evolutionary game model between tourism enterprises and tourism attraction and analyzes the evolutionary stable strategy and key influence factors of the two parties when developing the disabled travel business. The research results show that to develop the disabled tourism needs the cooperation of tourism attraction and enterprises. The enterprises should increase their communication with tourism attraction to decrease unnecessary lose and simultaneously optimize their service quality while managing to strengthen business integration. The tourism attraction should construct barrier-free facilities in accordance with government's policy, improve their profession of the disabled tourism, and intensify the propaganda of this business.
