Efficient Resource Allocation in computing Power Networks Considering Similar Task Merging: A Lyapunov Optimization-Based DRL Approach

The cloud-edge-terminal architecture relies on hierarchy for resource allocation but lacks global optimization. The computing power network (CPN) introduces a new distributed computing paradigm, integrating cross-domain, heterogeneous resources for global scheduling. However, most CPN research focuses on task optimization during resource allocation, while neglecting the similarity of random tasks before the allocation stage. Additionally, fragmented CPN resources and complex task demands pose challenges to global load balancing. This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning framework with task merging and congestion avoidance for on-demand resource allocation. Specifically, a low-complexity similar task merging algorithm reduces redundant resource consumption during task preprocessing. In task offloading, the principal neighborhood aggregated graph neural network captures CPN's intricate features. Lyapunov optimization, integrated into a multi-threaded training framework, minimizes resource backlog congestion. A carefully designed reward function balances multiple objectives, enhancing computing resource utilization efficiency and ensuring system stability. Theoretical analysis shows that with control parameter V, the trade-off between resource utilization efficiency and system stability follows the relationship O(1/V), O(V). Extensive experiments demonstrate a 33.5% improvement in resource utilization efficiency and a 62.7% increase in task offloading success rates with respect to those in state-of-the-art algorithms. The proposed algorithm exhibits robustness and effectiveness, particularly in high-load and real network topologies. © 2014 IEEE.

Traditional cloud computing models struggle to meet the requirements of latency-sensitive applications when processing large amounts of data. As a solution, Multi-access Edge computing (MEC) extends computing resources to the edge of the network to reduce processing delays and improve user experience. However, in dynamically changing edge computing environments, effective decision making on whether to offload tasks to edge servers remains a core challenge. For this purpose, we propose MRLATO, an adaptive task offloading mechanism based on Meta Reinforcement Learning (MRL), which exploits a large amount of a priori knowledge of different tasks to achieve fast adaptation. The task offloading process is modelled as multiple Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) and solved using a Sequence to Sequence (Seq2Seq) neural network integrating multi-head attention and recursive task sequencing. It is shown by the experimental results that the proposed method has the lowest latency in all experimental settings and the convergence efficiency is improved by 14.06% compared to the traditional Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) algorithm. This research fully demonstrates the significant benefits of the deep integration of MRL with the edge computing domain, providing new optimisation ideas for task offloading decisions. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Irregular Tensor Low-Rank Representation for Hyperspectral Image Representation

Spectral variations pose a common challenge in analyzing hyperspectral images (HSI). To address this, low-rank tensor representation has emerged as a robust strategy, leveraging inherent correlations within HSI data. However, the spatial distribution of ground objects in HSIs is inherently irregular, existing naturally in tensor format, with numerous class-specific regions manifesting as irregular tensors. Current low-rank representation techniques are designed for regular tensor structures and overlook this fundamental irregularity in real-world HSIs, leading to performance limitations. To tackle this issue, we propose a novel model for irregular tensor low-rank representation tailored to efficiently model irregular 3D cubes. By incorporating a non-convex nuclear norm to promote low-rankness and integrating a global negative low-rank term to enhance the discriminative ability, our proposed model is formulated as a constrained optimization problem and solved using an alternating augmented Lagrangian method. Experimental validation conducted on four public datasets demonstrates the superior performance of our method compared to existing state-of-the-art approaches. Automatic Repeat Request Design in AoI-Aware Broadcast With Heterogeneous Direct and Relay-Assisted Users

This paper investigates the design of automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocols in age of information (AoI)-aware broadcast systems with heterogeneous users, including both direct and relay-assisted users. In this setup, a direct user receives status updates directly via a single-hop link, while a relay-assisted user can receive status updates through either a direct single-hop link or a two-hop relay-assisted link. While ARQ is commonly used to ensure reliable transmission in error-prone wireless networks, previous studies suggest that ARQ does not improve the average AoI in single-hop networks. However, its impact on AoI in systems with relays, particularly those involving heterogeneous users, remains unclear. We address this gap by analyzing the average AoI under different ARQ strategies, introducing a transmission limit k ≥ 0 at the relay. Here, k = 0, k = 1, and k > 1 correspond to non-relay, non-ARQ-at-relay, and truncated-ARQ-at-relay strategies, respectively. Utilizing a unified Markov chain framework that models the transmission processes for each user type, we derive the theoretical average AoI. Our results show that the direct user benefits most from non-relay and non-ARQ strategies, similar to single-hop systems. In contrast, the relay-assisted user achieves optimal performance with truncated-ARQ-at-relay, leveraging both direct and relay-assisted links. For the overall system, applying a non-ARQ-at-relay approach strikes a balance in AoI between the direct and relay-assisted users, leading to a more stable and lower system-wide average AoI. © 2014 IEEE.

Unknown-Aware Bilateral Dependency Optimization for Defending Against Model Inversion Attacks

By abusing access to a well-trained classifier, model inversion (MI) attacks pose a significant threat as they can recover the original training data, leading to privacy leakage. Previous studies mitigated MI attacks by imposing regularization to reduce the dependency between input features and outputs during classifier training, a strategy known as unilateral dependency optimization. However, this strategy contradicts the objective of minimizing the supervised classification loss, which inherently seeks to maximize the dependency between input features and outputs. Consequently, there is a trade-off between improving the model's robustness against MI attacks and maintaining its classification performance. To address this issue, we propose the bilateral dependency optimization strategy (BiDO), a dual-objective approach that minimizes the dependency between input features and latent representations, while simultaneously maximizing the dependency between latent representations and labels. BiDO is remarkable for its privacy-preserving capabilities. However, models trained with BiDO exhibit diminished capabilities in out-of-distribution (OOD) detection compared to models trained with standard classification supervision. Given the open-world nature of deep learning systems, this limitation could lead to significant security risks, as encountering OOD inputs—whose label spaces do not overlap with the in-distribution (ID) data used during training-is inevitable. To address this, we leverage readily available auxiliary OOD data to enhance the OOD detection performance of models trained with BiDO. This leads to the introduction of an upgraded framework, unknown-aware BiDO (BiDO+), which mitigates both privacy and security concerns. As a highlight, with comparable model utility, BiDO-HSIC+ reduces the FPR95 by 55.02% and enhances the AUCROC by 9.52% compared to BiDO-HSIC, while also providing superior MI robustness. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

RaCMC: Residual-Aware Compensation Network with Multi-Granularity Constraints for Fake News Detection

Multimodal fake news detection aims to automatically identify real or fake news, thereby mitigating the adverse effects caused by such misinformation. Although prevailing approaches have demonstrated their effectiveness, challenges persist in cross-modal feature fusion and refinement for classification. To address this, we present a residual-aware compensation network with multi-granularity constraints (RaCMC) for fake news detection, that aims to sufficiently interact and fuse cross-modal features while amplifying the differences between real and fake news. First, a multiscale residual-aware compensation module is designed to interact and fuse features at different scales, and ensure both the consistency and exclusivity of feature interaction, thus acquiring high-quality features. Second, a multi-granularity constraints module is implemented to limit the distribution of both the news overall and the image-text pairs within the news, thus amplifying the differences between real and fake news at the news and feature levels. Finally, a dominant feature fusion reasoning module is developed to comprehensively evaluate news authenticity from the perspectives of both consistency and inconsistency. A robust and scalable crowd management infrastructure is crucial in addressing operational challenges when deploying high-density sensors and actuators in a smart city. While crowdsourcing is widely used in crowd management, conventional solutions, such as Upwork and Amazon Mechanical Turk, generally depend on a trusted third-party platform. There exist several potential security concerns(e.g., sensitive leakage, single point of failure and unfair judgment) in such a centralized paradigm. Hence, a recent trend in crowdsourcing is to leverage blockchain(a decentralized ledger technology) to address some of the existing limitations. A small number of blockchain-based crowdsourcing systems(BCSs) with incentive mechanisms have been proposed in the literature, but they are generally not designed with security in mind. Thus, we study the security and privacy requirements of a secure BCS and propose a concrete solution(i.e., SecBCS)with a prototype implementation based on JUICE.

An increasing number of deep learning methods is being applied to quantify the perception of urban environments, study the relationship between urban appearance and resident safety, and improve urban appearance. Most advanced methods extract image feature representations from street-level images through conventional visual computation algorithms or deep convolutional neural networks and then directly predict the results using features. Unfortunately, these methods take color and texture information together during processing. Color and texture are prime image features, and they affect human perception and judgment differently. We argue that color and texture should be operated differently; therefore, we formulate an end-to-end learning methodology to process input images according to color and texture information before inputting it into the neural network. The processed images and the original image constitute three input streams for the triad attention ranking convolutional neural network(AR-CNN) model proposed in this *** accordance with the aspects of color and texture, an improved attention mechanism in the convolution layer is proposed. Our objective is to obtain the scores of humans on urban appearance in accordance with the prediction results computed from pairwise comparisons generated by the AR-CNN model.

Managing a large volume of coins poses a complex challenge in various fields, particularly within Tunisian administrations, specifically in terms of counting and classification. In this case, several coin recognition systems are distinguished, such as systems based on mechanical, electromagnetic, and image processing methods. However, these systems may suffer from accuracy and reliability shortcomings and are sensitive to deception. To avoid these problems, we have developed an intelligent system based on convolutional models (CNN) with the aim of automating coin detection, classification, and counting. Additionally, we have expanded our database by integrating a generative neural network model (GAN). The main goal of our paper is to develop a robust and precise solution capable of efficiently processing a large volume of coins quickly and presenting the results in a mobile application connected to the system. Our work combines the latest technologies to assist Tunisian administrations in better managing their finances. The accuracy result has achieved up to 97.8 % with real time detection.

Moisture content is one of the important indexes of food storage security. The existing detection methods are time-consuming and high cost such that it is difficult to realize online moisture detection. In this paper, according to the dielectric properties of wheat, we propose a wheat moisture content detection system with commercial Wi-Fi devices, termed WiWm-EP. First, we introduce the relationship between the moisture content of wheat and its dielectric constant. Then, we establish an equivalent permittivity (EP) model to characterize wheat moisture content, where the EP can be calculated from channel state information (CSI) of the dual antenna model. Besides, we build the fitting function between the EP and the moisture content as the wheat moisture detection model. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the system through different experiments. The average relative error of the detection results of five wheat samples with different moisture contents is less than 3%. © 2023 IEEE.
