Nowadays, the exponential growth of smartphones creates a potential paradigm of mobile crowdsensing. A sensing task originator accomplishes its sensing data collection work by publishing them on crowdsensing platforms. All the platforms want to attract the task originator to use their services in order to make higher profit. Thus, the issue of competition arises. In this paper, we study the incentive mechanism based on pricing strategy for crowdsensing platforms. We formulate the competition among platforms as a dynamic non-cooperative game and use a multi-leader Stackelberg game model, where platforms are leaders and the task originator is the follower. In the real world, it is difficult for a platform to know the strategies of others. So we propose an iterative learning algorithm to compute its Nash equilibrium. The iterative learning algorithm is that each platform learns from its historic strategy and the originator’s response. Through extensive simulations, we evaluate the performance of our incentive mechanism. © 2018, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

In Heterogeneous networks (HetNets), the power difference between macro base stations (MBSs) and small base stations (SBSs) causes severe load unbalance. Therefore, cell range expansion (CRE) is proposed as an effective method to extend the coverage of SBSs and achieve balanced utilization of BSs. However, the downlink (DL) quality for offloaded user equipment (UE) cannot be guaranteed. In this paper, a traffic-aware user association scheme is proposed in HetNets. Distinct association biases are applied to different UEs according to their requirements. System performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed using the tool of stochastic geometry. The results show that the proposed scheme can improve DL throughput by enhancing the rate coverage of UEs, meanwhile signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) requirement with low data rate demand UEs is ensured. Moreover, the optimal association bias, which maximizes DL throughput, can be derived through particle swarm optimization (PSO), and it changes with different densities of BSs and UEs. © 2018, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Optimal puncturing of polar codes with a fixed information set

For a given polar code construction, the existing literature on puncturing for polar codes focuses in finding the optimal puncturing pattern, and then re-selecting the information set. This paper devotes itself to find the optimal puncturing pattern when the information set is fixed. Puncturing the coded bits corresponding to the worst quality bit channels, called the worst quality puncturing (WQP), is proposed, which is analyzed to minimize the bit channel quality loss at the punctured positions. Simulation results show that WQP outperforms the best existing puncturing schemes when the information set is fixed. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the sampling rate of traditional signal reconstruction should be more than 2 times the maximum frequency of the original signal in order to ensure the non-distortion reconstruction of the signal. The theoretical knowledge of compressed sensing is deeply analysed, and the image signal is reconstructed by block compression sensing method. Experiments show that the sampling rate is more higher, and the reconstruction error is more smaller, but the processing complexity is more higher; conversely, the lower the sampling rate, the lower the processing complexity, the greater the reconstruction error.

With the explosive growth of communication traffic and the arrival of 5G technologies, wireless big data has become an enabler for operators to manage and improve their wireless communication systems. Although many mobile traffic prediction methods have been proposed in the past few years, few prediction methods combine with the distribution features of base stations to predict the mobile traffic of cellular networks. In this paper, by leveraging on the 4G mobile data collected from one typical city in southeastern China, we propose a mobile traffic prediction approach based on one-dimensional densely connected convolutional neural networks (CNN) to predict the mobile traffic of base stations in highway scenarios. After data acquisition, data analysis and modeling, comparisons are made between the proposed mobile traffic prediction approach and the widely used prediction approaches based on machine learning models like LSTM and SVR, and numerical results show that the proposed mobile traffic prediction approach has outstanding performances.

In this paper, we quantify the interactive pattern between two time series: the number of users (NoU) representing user’s activity (UA) and downlink traffic load (DTL) generated from the base station (BS). We model the characteristics of UA, and use K-means clustering algorithm to characterize the hidden spatial association pattern in the wireless cellular system. The results show that (1) there is a strong linear interaction between UA and DTL;(2) the NoU has a strong weekdays and weekends mode. (3) the results of clustering well match the reference scenario information, with the scenario recognition accuracy of 75%. We demonstrate that such approach proposed can identify the scenario of the BSes, which can help us understand the spatial temporal traffic patterns of wireless cellular system. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

To meet the urgent requirements of ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLCs) in vehicular networks, vehicular edge caching (VEC) becomes a promising solution to reduce backhaul costs and mitigate network congestion. However, the data requested by vehicular users may be maliciously tampered by attackers during the caching delivery phase. In this paper, we investigate the problem of secure caching placement and delivery for a VEC URLLC system. Specifically, we first analyze the lower bound of spectral efficiency for URLLCs and security metric, i.e., vulnerability. Then, an optimization problem of minimizing the maximum vulnerability among all vehicular users is formulated based on the analysis. Subsequently, we propose a secure caching placement and delivery algorithm to obtain the solutions of our formulated problem by reasonable complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the performance of security for the VEC URLLC system.

Similar to existing codes, puncturing and shortening are two general ways to obtain an arbitrary code length and code rate for polar codes. When some of the coded bits are punctured or shortened, it is equivalent to a situation in which the underlying channels of the polar codes are different. Therefore, the quality of bit channels with puncturing or shortening differ from the original qualities, which can greatly affect the construction of polar codes. In this paper, a general construction of polar codes is studied in two aspects: 1) the theoretical foundation of the construction;and 2) the hardware implementation of polar codes encoders. In contrast to the original identical and independent binary-input, memoryless, symmetric (BMS) channels, these underlying BMS channels can be different. For binary erasure channel (BEC) channels, recursive equations can be employed assuming independent BMS channels. For all other channel types, the proposed general construction of polar codes is based on the existing Tal-Vardy's procedure. The symmetric property and the degradation relationship are shown to be preserved under the general setting, rendering the possibility of a modification of Tal-Vardy's procedure. Simulation results clearly show improved error performance with re-ordering using the proposed new procedures. In terms of hardware, a novel pruned folded encoder architecture is proposed which saves the computation for the beginning frozen bits. Implementation results show the pruned encoder achieve 28% throughput improvement. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.
