Vehicular Edge Computing (VEC) allows vehicles to offload their delay-sensitive tasks to nearby Road Side Units (RSUs) for processing, which improves network quality of service (QoS). However, the self-interested SDN controller is unwilling to ask RSUs to provide free computing resources for vehicles. At the same time, complicated dependencies between vehicular subtasks may cause non-ideal task delay and energy consumption. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a Stackelberg game-based Dependency-aware task Offloading and resource Pricing framework (SDOP). Specifically, we first model a vehicular edge network that partially offloads dependency-aware tasks. Then, we depict the interaction between the SDN controller and vehicles as a Stackelberg game, with the goal of maximizing the utility of both parties. Next, we present a Gradient Ascent Plus Genetic algorithm (GAPG) to solve the problem. Finally, numerous simulations are performed, and the results show that compared with other baseline schemes, the proposed GAPG can significantly improve the utility of both the SDN controller and vehicles under various scenarios.

PVGAN: A Pathological Voice Generation Model Incorporating a Progressive Nesting Strategy

The voice generation task is to solve the problem of limited samples in the voice dataset using computer technology. By increasing the number of samples, the accuracy of voice disorder diagnosis can be improved, which has a wide range of application value in medical diagnosis and other fields. At present, there are insufficient models for detailed features such as pitch, timbre, and different frequency components in pathological voice data. Therefore, this paper proposes a PVGAN network for learning different frequency information of audio to generate pathological voice data. The proposed network captures the multi-scale features and different periodic patterns of audio signals by designing multiscale perceptual residual blocks and periodic discriminators. At the same time, a progressive nesting strategy was proposed to combine the generator and the discriminator to improve the learning ability of different resolution information. In addition, a latent mapping network is designed to fuse the latent vector with the condition information to generate sound features related to specific diseases or pathological states. The loss function is optimized to further improve the model performance. On the Saarbruecken Voice database(SVD), the average values of each index of the data generated after training with different pathological types as conditional information are similar to the original data. Finally, the generated data were used to expand the SVD dataset, and the accuracy of the two classification experiments was improved to a certain extent. © 2023 The Voice Foundation

This paper proposes a Stacklberg game-based Dependent task Offloading and resource Pricing framework (SDOP), where vehicles partially offload their dependent substaks to the SDN controller and pays corresponding fees. Firstly, we model the interaction between the SDN controller and vehicles as a Stackelberg game, where both parties wish to maximize their utility. Then, we employ the backward induction approach to analyze the investigated problem, and prove the existence and uniqueness of Nash and Stackelberg equilibrium. Next, we propose a Gradient Ascent Plus Genetic algorithm (GAPG) to solve the considered problem. Finally, extensive simulation results show that the proposed GAPG outperforms other baseline schemes under various scenarios.

In recent years, the detection of infrared small targets using deep learning methods has garnered substantial attention due to notable advancements. To improve the detection capability of small targets, these methods commonly maintain a pathway that preserves high-resolution features of sparse and tiny targets. However, it can result in redundant and expensive computations. To tackle this challenge, we propose SpirDet, a novel approach for efficient detection of infrared small targets. Specifically, to cope with the computational redundancy issue, we employ a new dual-branch sparse decoder to restore the feature map. Firstly, the fast branch directly predicts a sparse map indicating potential small target locations (occupying only 0.5% area of the map). Secondly, the slow branch conducts fine-grained adjustments at the positions indicated by the sparse map. Additionally, we design an lightweight DO-RepEncoder based on reparameterization with the Downsampling Orthogonality, which can effectively reduce memory consumption and inference latency. Extensive experiments show that the proposed SpirDet significantly outperforms state-of-the-art models while achieving faster inference speed and fewer parameters. For example, on the IRSTD-1K dataset, SpirDet improves MIoU by 4.7 and has a 7× FPS acceleration compared to the previous state-of-the-art model. The code will be open to the public. © 2024, CC BY.

Fully Synthetic Videos and Random Background-Pasting Method for Flame Segmentation

Video-based flame detection (VFD) aims to recognize fire events by the image features. Flame segmentation is an essential task in VFD, which provides suspected regions for feature analysis and object recognition. The development of deep learning has promoted VFD performances to a higher level. However, due to the rarity of recorded fire events, it is challenging to get tremendous positive flame samples for model training. Existing deep learning-based VFD methods are limited to the lack of flame samples under different scenarios. In this paper, we propose an assumption that we can train a segmentation model with virtual flame images and design experiments to prove it. We take many virtual flame videos to extend existing flame datasets, which provide adequate flame samples for deep learning-based VFD methods. We also take a random background-pasting method to distribute the flame images among different scenarios. The proposed method trains a flame segmentation model with zero real flame image. Moreover, we perform segmentation testing with real flame images, which the model has never touched, to see if the model trained with ‘fake’ images can segment real objects. We trained four segmentation models based on FCN, U-Net, Deeplabv3, and Mask-RCNN with synthetic flame video frames, and obtained the highest mPA of 0.783 and mIoU of 0.515. The experimental results on FIRE-SMOKE-dataSET and Fire-Detection-Image-dataset demonstrate that the ‘fake’ flame samples generated by the proposed random background-pasting method can improve the performances of existing state-of-the-art flame segmentation methods obviously on cross-dataset evaluation settings. © 2022, The Authors. data-driven landscape across finance, government, and healthcare, the continuous generation of information demands robust solutions for secure storage, efficient dissemination, and fine-grained access control. Blockchain technology emerges as a significant tool, offering decentralized storage while upholding the tenets of data security and accessibility. However, on-chain and off-chain strategies are still confronted with issues such as untrusted off-chain data storage, absence of data ownership, limited access control policy for clients, and a deficiency in data privacy and auditability. To solve these challenges, we propose a permissioned blockchain-based privacy-preserving fine-grained access control on-chain and off-chain system, namely FACOS. We applied three fine-grained access control solutions and comprehensively analyzed them in different aspects, which provides an intuitive perspective for system designers and clients to choose the appropriate access control method for their systems. Compared to similar work that only stores encrypted data in centralized or non-fault-tolerant IPFS systems, we enhanced off-chain data storage security and robustness by utilizing a highly efficient and secure asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerance (BFT) protocol in the off-chain environment. As each of the clients needs to be verified and authorized before accessing the data, we involved the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)-based solution to verify the credentials of clients. Additionally, our evaluation results demonstrated that our system1 offers better scalability and practicality than other state-of-the-art designs. We deployed our system on Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud and conducted multiple evaluations. The results indicate that it takes about 2.79 seconds for a client to execute the protocol for uploading and about 0.96 seconds for downloading. Compared to other decentralized systems, our system exhibits efficient latency for both download and upload operations.

An Anti-disguise Authentication System Using the First Impression of Avatar in Metaverse

Metaverse is a vast virtual world parallel to the physical world, where the user acts as an avatar to enjoy various services that break through the temporal and spatial limitations of the physical world. Metaverse allows users to create arbitrary digital appearances as their own avatars by which an adversary may disguise his/her avatar to fraud others. In this paper, we propose an anti-disguise authentication method that draws on the idea of the first impression from the physical world to recognize an old friend. Specifically, the first meeting scenario in the metaverse is stored and recalled to help the authentication between avatars. To prevent the adversary from replacing and forging the first impression, we construct a chameleon-based signcryption mechanism and design a ciphertext authentication protocol to ensure the public verifiability of encrypted identities. The security analysis shows that the proposed signcryption mechanism meets not only the security requirement but also the public verifiability. Besides, the ciphertext authentication protocol has the capability of defending against the replacing and forging attacks on the first impression. Extensive experiments show that the proposed avatar authentication system is able to achieve anti-disguise authentication at a low storage consumption on the blockchain. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

The graph with complex annotations is the most potent data type, whose constantly evolving motivates further exploration of the unsupervised dynamic graph representation. One of the representative paradigms is graph contrastive learning. It constructs self-supervised signals by maximizing the mutual information between the statistic graph’s augmentation views. However, the semantics and labels may change within the augmentation process, causing a significant performance drop in downstream tasks. This drawback becomes greatly magnified on dynamic graphs. To address this problem, we designed a simple yet effective framework named CLDG. Firstly, we elaborate that dynamic graphs have temporal translation invariance at different levels. Then, we proposed a sampling layer to extract the temporally-persistent signals. It will encourage the node to maintain consistent local and global representations, i.e., temporal translation invariance under the timespan views. The extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the method on seven datasets by outperforming eight unsupervised state-of-the-art baselines and showing competitiveness against four semi-supervised methods. Compared with the existing dynamic graph method, the number of model parameters and training time is reduced by an average of 2,001.86 times and 130.31 times on seven datasets, respectively. Image captioning is usually based on the mainstream encoder-decoder framework, the accuracy of the encoders and the generation capability of the decoders directly affect the quality of image captions. But no matter how the encoders and the decoders are combined, the generated captions will only imitate the ground-truth captions, and its diversity is suppressed. To generate more accurate and diverse captions while exploring the impact of different encoder-decoder frameworks for the quality of the generated captions, we conducted an exploration of an efficient image captioning method based on GAN. Specifically, we use ResNet152, EfficientNet-B0, and EfficientNet-B2 as the encoders to extract image features, GRU or Transformer as the decoders to generate captions, respectively. Based on MS COCO2014 dataset, a large number of experiment results show that the EfficientNet-B2+GRU framework has best performance, training time is reduced, BLUE-4 score increases by 0.6, parameters reduce by 0.66 million, which can be used as an efficient encoder-decoder framework for generating diverse captions. © 2021 ACM.

As continuous-flow microfluidic biochips technology rapidly advances, its automated synthesis methods require adapting to increasingly complex and stringent biochemical applications. In particular, with the introduction of time-sensitive bioassays, in this work, we present a timing-driven high-level synthesis method to optimize the resource efficiency of bioassays considering the time constraints. Specifically, we investigate the existing forms of time constraints and propose a corresponding flexible modeling approach based on reaction-control which can achieve downward compatibility for physical design. Additionally, we also analyze the impact of storage and wash on time constraints. The experimental results show that our method achieves efficient execution and low devices cost while satisfying time constraints.
