Understanding communication and information processing among brain regions of interest (ROIs) is highly dependent on long-range connectivity, which plays a crucial role in facilitating diverse functional neural integration across the entire brain. However, previous studies generally focused on the short-range dependencies within brain networks while neglecting the long-range dependencies, limiting an integrated understanding of brain-wide communication. To address this limitation, we propose Adaptive Long-range aware TransformER (ALTER), a brain graph transformer to capture long-range dependencies between brain ROIs utilizing biased random walk. Specifically, we present a novel long-range aware strategy to explicitly capture long-range dependencies between brain ROIs. By guiding the walker towards the next hop with higher correlation value, our strategy simulates the real-world brain-wide communication. Furthermore, by employing the transformer framework, ALERT adaptively integrates both short- and long-range dependencies between brain ROIs, enabling an integrated understanding of multilevel communication across the entire brain. Extensive experiments on ABIDE and ADNI datasets demonstrate that ALTER consistently outperforms generalized state-of-the-art graph learning methods (including SAN, Graphormer, GraphTrans, and LRGNN) and other graph learning based brain network analysis methods (including FBNETGEN, BrainNetGNN, BrainGNN, and BrainNETTF) in neurological disease diagnosis. HiCoCS: High Concurrency Cross-Sharding on Permissioned Blockchains

As the foundation of the Web3 trust system, blockchain technology faces increasing demands for scalability. Sharding emerges as a promising solution, but it struggles to handle highly concurrent cross-shard transactions (CSTxs), primarily due to simultaneous ledger operations on the same account. Hyperledger Fabric, a permissioned blockchain, employs multi-version concurrency control for parallel processing. Existing solutions use channels and intermediaries to achieve cross-sharding in Hyperledger Fabric. However, the conflict problem caused by highly concurrent CSTxs has not been adequately resolved. To fill this gap, we propose HiCoCS, a high concurrency cross-shard scheme for permissioned blockchains. HiCoCS creates a unique virtual sub-broker for each CSTx by introducing a composite key structure, enabling conflict-free concurrent transaction processing while reducing resource overhead. The challenge lies in managing large numbers of composite keys and mitigating intermediary privacy risks. HiCoCS utilizes virtual sub-brokers to receive and process CSTxs concurrently while maintaining a transaction pool. Batch processing is employed to merge multiple CSTxs in the pool, improving efficiency. We explore composite key reuse to reduce the number of virtual sub-brokers and lower system overhead. Privacy preservation is enhanced using homomorphic encryption. Evaluations show that HiCoCS improves cross-shard transaction throughput by 3.5-20.2 times compared to the baselines. Source-free domain adaptation based on label reliability for cross-domain bearing fault diagnosis

Source-free domain adaptation (SFDA) has been exploited for cross-domain bearing fault diagnosis without access to source data. Current methods select partial target samples with reliable pseudo-labels for model adaptation, which is sub-optimal due to the ignored target samples. We argue that every target sample can contribute to model adaptation, and accordingly propose in this paper a novel SFDA-based approach for bearing fault diagnosis that exploits both reliable and unreliable pseudo-labels. We develop a data-augmentation-based label voting strategy to divide the target samples into reliable and unreliable ones. We propose to explore the underlying relation between feature space and label space by using the reliable pseudo-labels as ground-truth labels, meanwhile, alleviating negative transfer by maximizing the entropy of the unreliable pseudo-labels. The proposed method achieves well-balance between discriminability and diversity by taking advantage of reliable and unreliable pseudo-labels. Extensive experiments are conducted on two bearing fault benchmarks, demonstrating that our approach achieves significant performance improvements against existing SFDA-based bearing fault diagnosis methods. FrDiff: Framelet-based Conditional Diffusion Model for Multispectral and Panchromatic Image Fusion

The process of fusing low-resolution multispectral (LRMS) and high-resolution panchromatic (PAN) imagery, commonly referred to as pansharpening, is intended to generate high-resolution multispectral (HRMS) imagery. Typically, most pre-existing pansharpening frameworks mainly emphasize the straightforward learning of the mapping relationship among PAN and LRMS images to HRMS images. However, a key limitation of these frameworks is their potential overemphasis on spatial information, particularly the enhancement of low-frequency components. As a result, such an oversight potentially hinders the model's ability to simultaneously restore both spectral and spatial details. To address this issue, we propose a novel pansharpening model based on the denoising diffusion probabilistic model (DDPM), dubbed FrDiff. Specifically, we build a framelet-based conditional diffusion model that leverages the generative power of diffusion models to produce more refine results. Different from conventional methods directly inferring HRMS images, our strategy is designed to project their framelet coefficients, utilizing the available PAN and LRMS images as resources. This approach enables the separation of high-frequency and low-frequency components through framelet transformation, which are subsequently recombined to create a novel set of conditional embeddings that feed into the diffusion process. At the same time, the powerful predictive power of the diffusion model is exploited to simultaneously recover the high-frequency and low-frequency components of the HRMS. Moreover, we introduce a framelet-oriented cross-attention module dedicated to honing spectral fidelity. This module is crucial for improving the spectral precision of the HRMS images, ensuring a balanced emphasis on both spatial and spectral enhancements. Solar activity plays an important role in influencing space weather,making it important to understand numerous aspects of spatial and temporal variations in the Sun's radiative ***-performance deep learning models and long-term observational records of sunspot relative numbers are essential for solar cycle *** the multivariate time series of monthly sunspot relative numbers provided by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and two Informer-based models,we forecast the amplitude and timing of solar cycles 25 and *** main results are as follows:(1)The maximum amplitude of solar cycle 25 is higher than the previous solar cycle 24 and the following solar cycle 26,suggesting that the long-term oscillatory variation of sunspot magnetic fields is related to the roughly centennial Gleissberg cyclicity.(2)Solar cycles 25 and 26 exhibit a pronounced Gnevyshev gap,which might be caused by two non-coincident peaks resulting from solar magnetic flux transported by meridional circulation and mid-latitude diffusion in the convection zone.(3)Hemispheric prediction of sunspot activity reveals a significant northsouth asynchrony,with activity level of the Sun being more intense in the southern *** results are consistent with expectations derived from precursor methods and dynamo theories,and further provide evidence for internal changes in solar magnetic field during the decay of the Modern Maximum.

An Image Semantic Communication System Based on GAN and Relative Position-Encoding

In image semantic communication, the complex wireless channel environment leads to the loss of image details and performance degradation during transmission. To address this issue, we propose an image semantic communication system based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and Relative Position-Encoding (RPE), named GAN-RpeSC. Specifically, in the system design, we introduce the GAN network at the output of the semantic communication framework to enhance the image restoration. We integrate the RPE module into the Visual Transformer (ViT) module, adding the RPE module to its Multihead Self Attention (MHSA), so that the model can better capture the spatial location information of the image. Experimental results show that the proposed GAN-RpeSC has significant advantages in improving image transmission quality, with a 0.3 dB improvement in peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) compared to the ViT module alone. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

The goal of fusing hyperspectral images (HSI) and multispectral images (MSI) is to generate high-resolution hyperspectral images for downstream tasks. However, most existing methods overlook the specific requirements of these tasks, leading to a gap between the fusion process and its subsequent applications due to insufficient guidance from downstream tasks. To address this issue, we propose a classification-guided multitask interactive network (CGNet) that integrates both fusion and classification tasks into a unified framework, with two branches producing the fused image and classification results, respectively. In the fusion branch, we design a multi-level residual refinement module to efficiently integrate spatial and spectral information. Additionally, an attention-based multi-scale fusion module, incorporating both spatial and channel attention, is carefully crafted to enhance representation learning. In the classification branch, both 2-D and 3-D convolutions are employed to improve classification performance. Moreover, an information interaction module is proposed to guide the fusion task based on classification outcomes. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches on the Pavia Centre and Pavia University datasets.

Salix-Leaf: Find Main Veins of Signal Clusters for Practical Parallel Decoding

Parallel decoding of backscatter improves communication throughput by enabling concurrent transmission of backscatter tags. In practical applications of parallel decoding, it is extremely difficult to distinguish collided signals in superclusters where multiple signal clusters overlap. Existing methods are usually effective for superclusters with uniformly distributed signals. Nevertheless, there are many more scenarios in which signals in superclusters tend to gather unevenly, and existing methods cannot work. Such uneven clustering of signals occurs due to the following two possible causes: (1) signal-strengthdifferences (SSDs) among tags;or (2) cluster drifting (CD) driven by interferences from other objects within communication environments. This paper proposes a novel scheme called SalixLeaf, which aims to identify the main veins of signal clusters to address this problem of superclusters with unevenly distributed signals. Salix-Leaf identifies the main vein of each signal cluster for fine-grained clustering so that the direction of the main veins can be used to verify the accuracy of clustering. In addition, SalixLeaf employs a supercluster decomposer that divides signals into different segments for clustering analysis, enhancing robustness and practicability. Experimental results show that Salix-Leaf achieves a 1.2-fold increase in throughput and a 25% reduction in bit error rate (BER) compared to the state-of-the-art. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

It has demonstrated that May land surface temperature (LST) and subsurface temperature (SUBT) anomalies on the Tibetan Plateau (TP) can serve as a predictor of June precipitation in downstream *** summer 2022, there was heavy precipitation (severe drought) in June (August) over southern China, coinciding with high May (July) LST/SUBT anomalies in *** the framework of the Impact of Initialized Land Temperature and Snowpack on Subseasonal to Seasonal Prediction (LS4P), this study explores the causality between 2022 May (July) TP LST/SUBT and June (August) precipitation using an ensemble of land–atmosphere coupled model *** show that model prediction with imposed strongly positive May TP LST/SUBT (i.e., a triple) anomaly could produce 67% (46%) of June precipitation anomalies in South (northeast) China, while sea surface temperature (SST) effects account for 5% (51%).The atmosphere condensation heating and surface sensible heating due to TP LST/SUBT anomaly induce anomalous South Asian high, which moves eastward along with the Rossby ***, the above process enhances upward motion, convective instability, and water vapor transport, eventually be favorable for rainfall formation in South China and northeast *** Southeast Asia, it makes a downward movement, decrease in atmospheric water vapor, and unfavorable to the occurrence of ***, July TP LST/SUBT contributes to the prediction skill for August record-breaking drought in southern *** to SST effects, it is found that TP LST/SUBT effects significantly enhance the prediction skill for downstream region, suggesting that the TP land contributes an important source for subseasonal climate prediction. © 2025 American Meteorological Society.

TPCap: Unlocking Zero-Shot Image Captioning with Trigger-Augmented and Multi-Modal Purification Modules

Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) have significantly enhanced the fluency and logical coherence of image captioning. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is widely adopted to incorporate external knowledge into LLMs;however, existing RAG-based methods rely on separate retrieval banks, introducing computational overhead and limiting the utilization of LLMs’ inherent zero-shot capabilities. To address these limitations, we propose TPCap, a novel trigger-augmented and multi-modal purification framework for zero-shot image captioning without external retrieval libraries. TPCap consists of two key components: trigger-augmented (TA) generation and multi-modal purification (MP). The TA module employs a trigger projector with frozen and learnable projections to activate LLMs’ contextual reasoning, enhance visual-textual alignment, and mitigate data bias. The MP module further refines the generated entity-related information by filtering noise and enhancing feature quality, ensuring more precise and factually consistent captions. We evaluate TPCap on COCO, NoCaps, Flickr30k, and WHOOPS datasets. With only 0.82M trainable parameters and training on a single NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU, TPCap achieves competitive performance comparable to state-of-the-art models. Copyright © 2025, The Authors.
