We investigate safe online convex optimization (SOCO), where each decision must satisfy a set of unknown linear constraints. Assuming that the unknown constraints can be observed with a sub-Gaussian noise for each chosen decision, previous studies have established a high-probability regret bound of O(T²/³). However, this assumption may not hold in many practical scenarios. To address this limitation, in this paper, we relax the assumption to allow any noise that admits finite (1+ϵ)-th moments for some ϵ ∈ (0, 1], and propose two algorithms that enjoy an O(T^cϵ) regret bound with high probability, where T is the time horizon and cϵ = (1+ϵ)/(1+2ϵ). The key idea of our two algorithms is to respectively utilize the median-of-means and truncation techniques to achieve accurate estimation under heavy-tailed noises. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first algorithms designed to handle SOCO with heavy-tailed observation noises. Cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications is an enabling technology to transmit control signaling or payload data for UAVs through cellular networks. Due to the line-of-sight dominant air-to-ground channels, efficient interference mitigation is crucial to UAV communications, while the conventional fixed-position antenna (FPA) arrays have limited degrees of freedom to suppress the interference between the UAV and its non-associated co-channel base stations (BSs). To address this challenge, we propose in this letter a new approach by utilizing the six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) arrays to enhance the interference mitigation for the UAV. Specifically, we propose an efficient block coordinate descent algorithm to iteratively optimize the antenna position vector, array rotation vector, receive beamforming vector, and associated BS of the UAV to maximize its signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. Numerical results show that the proposed 6DMA enhanced cellular-connected UAV communication can significantly outperform that with the traditional FPA arrays and other benchmark schemes in terms of interference mitigation. © 2025 IEEE. Users worldwide widely use cloud storage because of its efficiency, convenience, and high availability. Multi-cloud storage is usually selected to ensure the high availability of data. Unfortunately, when data is migrated and replicated between multi-cloud data centers, it is not easy to guarantee data con-sistency. This paper proposes an efficient, secure, and new data consistency verification scheme using blockchain technology. In order to reduce the computation and communication overhead in the verification process, our scheme uses encrypted tags to build Merkle hash tree to generate unique and lightweight verification proofs and does not use third-party auditors. The final theoretical and experimental analysis shows that our scheme has higher security and a faster verification process in multi-cloud storage.

The complementary benefits from visible and thermal infrared data are widely utilized in various computer vision task, such as visual tracking, semantic segmentation and object detection, but rarely explored in Multiple Object Tracking (MOT). In this work, we contribute a large-scale Visible-Thermal video benchmark for MOT, called VT-MOT. VT-MOT has the following main advantages. 1) The data is large scale and high diversity. VT-MOT includes 582 video sequence pairs, 401k frame pairs from surveillance, drone, and handheld platforms. 2) The cross-modal alignment is highly accurate. We invite several professionals to perform both spatial and temporal alignment frame by frame. 3) The annotation is dense and high-quality. VT-MOT has 3.99 million annotation boxes annotated and double-checked by professionals, including heavy occlusion and object re-acquisition (object disappear and reappear) challenges. To provide a strong baseline, we design a simple yet effective tracking framework, which effectively fuses temporal information and complementary information of two modalities in a progressive manner, for robust visible-thermal MOT. A comprehensive experiment are conducted on VT-MOT and the results prove the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed method compared with state-of-the-art methods. Zero Stability Well Predicts Performance of Convolutional Neural Networks

The question of what kind of convolutional neural network (CNN) structure performs well is fascinating. In this work, we move toward the answer with one more step by connecting zero stability and model performance. Specifically, we found that if a discrete solver of an ordinary differential equation is zero stable, the CNN corresponding to that solver performs well. We first give the interpretation of zero stability in the context of deep learning and then investigate the performance of existing first- and second-order CNNs under different zero-stable circumstances. Based on the preliminary observation, we provide a higher-order discretization to construct CNNs and then propose a zero-stable network (ZeroSNet). To guarantee zero stability of the ZeroSNet, we first deduce a structure that meets consistency conditions and then give a zero stable region of a training-free parameter. By analyzing the roots of a characteristic equation, we theoretically obtain the optimal coefficients of feature maps. Empirically, we present our results from three aspects: We provide extensive empirical evidence of different depth on different datasets to show that the moduli of the characteristic equation's roots are the keys for the performance of CNNs that require historical features;Our experiments show that ZeroSNet outperforms existing CNNs which is based on high-order discretization;ZeroSNets show better robustness against noises on the input. A novel spatial temporal neural hierarchical architecture for long-term multi-city air quality prediction

Forecasting long-term multi-city air quality is challenging due to its inherent characteristics of high dynamic and multi-periodicity. In this paper, a novel spatial-temporal neural hierarchical architecture (ST-NHA) is proposed to forecast long-term multi-city air quality. Firstly, the spatial correlation among cities is further explored to give full consideration to air pollutants diffusion among neighbor cities. Then three distinct stacks are designed to capture intrinsic long-term characteristics where trend stack, times stack, and covariate stack are carried out to care about the temporal characteristics from the spatial correlation. Finally, the temporal characteristics obtained from each stack are used for air quality forecasts aggregation. To demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed ST-NHA, it is assessed using two real-world scenarios, and the experiment results indicate that ST-NHA surpasses existing models.

Energy trading in distributed microgrids represents an effective means of enhancing the utilization of renewable energy. However, the aggregation of large-scale consumption data may encounter business scalability issues and potential privacy exposure concerns, necessitating the development of novel secure and scalable frameworks for integrating consumption demands between prosumer and microgrid entities. we research focuses on providing a user-friendly transaction model for consumers and microgrid operators. Firstly, a privacy aggregation scheme for user resource requests is designed to ensure the security and decentralization of user data. In addition, the model employs a bidirectional heterogeneous resource allocation mechanism to support the optimal allocation of multiple resources, such as renewable energy, power assets, energy storage devices, and carbon credits, among different microgrids. Finally, a microgrid transaction prototype has been constructed on the Truffle development framework. In this context, smart contracts has been designed to ensure that the transactions are carried out automatically. Experimental results indicate that the scheme provides enhanced security for multi-resource trading in a cluster context relative to existing methodologies. The number of transactions increases linearly with the resource overhead, resulting in more efficient utilization of energy trading. Furthermore, the framework's scalability has been demonstrated through both temporal and spatial considerations. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

IMPACT: Importance-Informed Prefetching and Caching for I/O-Bound DNN Training

Fetching large amounts of DNN training data from storage systems causes high I/O latency and GPU stalls. Importance sampling can reduce data processing on GPUs while maintaining model accuracy, but current frameworks lack a prefetching and caching layer to optimize data fetches and cache management based on sample importance. This leads to unnecessary fetches, poor cache hit ratios, and random I/Os. We present ImPACT, an importance-informed prefetching and caching system, to accelerate I/O-bound DNN training. First, we propose an importance-informed prefetching technique to reduce the prefetching of unimportant data. Then, we introduce an importance-aware caching layer, partitioned into two regions: H-cache and L-cache, which store samples of high importance and low importance respectively. Rather than using recency or frequency, we manage data items in H-cache according to their corresponding sample importance. When there is a cache miss in L-cache, we use sample substitutability and dynamic packaging to improve the cache hit ratio and reduce the number of random I/Os. Our experimental results show that ImPACT has a negligible impact on training accuracy while speeding up DNN training by up to 3.5× compared to state-of-the-art prefetching and caching systems. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

EC²Detect: Real-Time Online Video Object Detection in Edge-Cloud Collaborative IoT

Video object detection is a fundamental technology of intelligent video analytics for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. However, even with extraordinary detection accuracy, predominating solutions based on deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) cannot achieve real-time online object detection on video streams with a low end-to-end (E2E) response latency and therefore cannot be applied to proliferating latency-sensitive IoT applications like autonomous driving requiring large-scale intelligent video analytics. To address this issue, we present EC2Detect, an edge-cloud collaborative real-time online video object detection method. Specifically, we propose a tracking-assisted object detection architecture based on edge-cloud collaboration with keyframe selection, where the accurate but heavy object detection is conducted by the Cloud on sparse keyframes adaptively selected according to their semantic variation, and the lightweight object tracking is used to localize and identify objects in other frames at edge devices. Extensive experiments of our real-world prototype demonstrate that, EC2Detect significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of processing speed (up to $4.77\times $ faster), E2E latency (up to $8.12 \times $ lower), and edge-cloud bandwidth occupation ( $17 \times $ lower) with an acceptable mAP, which can effectively support large-scale intelligent video analytics in practice.
