Future wireless systems are envisioned to create an endogenously holography-capable, intelligent, and programmable radio propagation environment, that will offer unprecedented capabilities for high spectral and energy efficiency, low latency, and massive connectivity. A potential and promising technology for supporting the expected extreme requirements of the sixth-generation (6G) communication systems is the concept of the holographic multiple-input multiple-output (HMIMO), which will actualize holographic radios with reasonable power consumption and fabrication cost. The HMIMO is facilitated by ultra-thin, extremely large, and nearly continuous surfaces that incorporate reconfigurable and sub-wavelength-spaced antennas and/or metamaterials. Such surfaces comprising dense electromagnetic (EM) excited elements are capable of recording and manipulating impinging fields with utmost flexibility and precision, as well as with reduced cost and power consumption, thereby shaping arbitrary-intended EM waves with high energy efficiency. The powerful EM processing capability of HMIMO opens up the possibility of wireless communications of holographic imaging level, paving the way for signal processing techniques realized in the EM-domain, possibly in conjunction with their digital-domain counterparts. However, in spite of the significant potential, the studies on HMIMO communications are still at an initial stage, its fundamental limits remain to be unveiled, and a certain number of critical technical challenges need to be addressed. In this survey, we present a comprehensive overview of the latest advances in the HMIMO communications paradigm, with a special focus on their physical aspects, their theoretical foundations, as well as the enabling technologies for HMIMO systems. We also compare the HMIMO with existing multi-antenna technologies, especially the massive MIMO, present various promising synergies of HMIMO with current and future candidate technologies, and provide

Bug reports are widely used by developers to fix bugs. Due to the lack of experience, reporters may submit numerous invalid bug reports. Manually determining valid bug reports is a laborious task. Automatically identifying valid bug reports can save time and effort for bug analysis. In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based approach to determine and explain valid bug reports using only textual information i.e., summaries and descriptions of bug reports. Convolutional neural network (CNN) is applied to capture their contextual and semantic features. Moreover, by analyzing the spatial structure of CNN, we backtrack the trained CNN model to get phrases that can explain valid bug reports determination. After inspecting the phrases manually, we summarize some valid bug report patterns. We evaluate our approach on five large-scale open-source projects containing a total of 540491 bug reports. On average, across the five projects, our approach achieves 0.85, 0.80, 0.69 and improves the state-of-the-art approach by 8.97%, 9.59%, 9.52% in terms of AUC, F1-score for valid bug reports, and F1-score for invalid bug reports, respectively. From the summarized patterns, we can find that determining valid bug reports is mainly due to three categories of patterns: Attachment, Environment, and Reproduce.

Clustering analysis is important for providing personalized services across various user experience optimization. As an advanced clustering technique, Fuzzy Co-Clustering ( FCC ) excels at handling high-dimensional data by simultaneously grouping both samples and attributes while allowing objects to belong to multiple clusters. To alleviate the potential privacy risks posed by directly using raw data, researchers often employ local differential privacy (LDP) techniques for protection. However, current clustering studies under LDP either directly perform clustering on the high-dimensional data, which necessitates splitting the privacy budget heavily, leading to excessive noise injection, or fail to adequately address the impact of Laplacian noise on both objective function modeling and distance metric selection, resulting in reduced clustering accuracy. To address these limitations, we present a two-phase approach SONY , which allocates part of the privacy budget to evaluate attribute importance and perform dimensionality reduction accordingly, and then utilizes the remaining budget to conduct noise-aware clustering on the pruned data. Our key technical contributions include: (1) a Noise-aware Similarity Calculation method ( NSC ) that replaces traditional Euclidean distance with a specialized metric which accounts for the statistical properties of Laplacian noise; (2) an importance-driven dimension reduction and budget allocation method ( IDRBA ) which optimizes both attribute selection and privacy budget allocation; and (3) an outlier-aware objective function calculation method ( OOC ) which enhances robustness against potential noise-induced outliers. We provide theoretical guarantees for SONY 's convergence, privacy preservation, utility bounds, and computational complexity. Experimental evaluations conducted on two real-world datasets and one synthetic dataset, demonstrate that SONY outperforms the state-of-the-arts by at least 14% in F-Measure and 10% in Entrop

We consider the problem of finding map regions that best match query keywords. This region search problem can be applied in many practical scenarios such as shopping recommendation, searching for tourist attractions, and collision region detection for wireless sensor networks. While conventional map search retrieves isolate locations in a map, users frequently attempt to find regions of interest instead, e.g., detecting regions having too many wireless sensors to avoid collision, or finding shopping areas featuring various merchandise or tourist attractions of different styles. Finding regions of interest in a map is a non-trivial problem and retrieving regions of arbitrary shapes poses particular challenges. In this paper, we present a novel region search algorithm, dense region search(DRS), and its extensions, to find regions of interest by estimating the density of locations containing the query keywords in the region. Experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm.

Network measurement, which provides detailed information about the behaviors of operational networks, is essential for network management in wireless sensor networks. In the literature, there have been many approaches focusing on measuring individual aspect of the network, e.g., per-packet routing path and per-hop delay. However, there lacks a general support for conducting different measurement tasks. When managing an operational network, a network operator often needs to switch the current measurement task to a different one, in order to diagnose the observed symptoms. In this paper, we propose TinySDM, a software-defined measurement architecture for WSNs. TinySDM provides a general support for conducting different measurement tasks. TinySDM defines a set of carefully selected hooks that allow the users to easily execute their own measurement tasks. In addition, TinySDM provides a C- like language called TinyCode Language (TCL) to enable easy customization of measurement tasks. By only transmitting the binary code of the measurement task, TinySDM significantly reduces the size of the disseminated data compared with existing reprogramming approaches. We implement TinySDM on the TinyOS/TelosB platform and evaluate its performance extensively in a testbed with 60 nodes. We also use TCL to implement four specific measurement tasks. Results show that TinySDM is flexible, efficient and easily programmable. © 2016 IEEE.

Effective blog pages extractor for better UGC accessing

Blog is becoming an increasingly popular media for information publishing. Besides the main content, most of blog pages nowadays also contain noisy information such as advertisements etc. Removing these unrelated elements can improves user experience, but also can better adapt the content to various devices such as mobile phones. Though template-based extractors are highly accurate, they may incur expensive cost in that a large number of template need to be developed and they will fail once the template is updated. To address these issues, we present a novel template-independent content extractor for blog pages. First, we convert a blog page into a DOM-Tree, where all elements including the title and body blocks in a page correspond to subtrees. Then we construct subtree candidate set for the title and the body blocks respectively, and extract both spatial and content features for elements contained in the subtree. SVM classifiers for the title and the body blocks are trained using these features. Finally, the classifiers are used to extract the main content from blog pages. We test our extractor on 2,250 blog pages crawled from nine blog sites with obviously different styles and templates. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of our extractor. Age-optimal trajectory planning for UAV-assisted data collection

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-aided data collection is a new and promising application in many practical scenarios. In this work, we study the age-optimal trajectory planning problem in UAV-enabled wireless sensor networks, where a UAV is dispatched to collect data from the ground sensor nodes (SNs). The age of information (AoI) collected from each SN is characterized by the data uploading time and the time elapsed since the UAV leaves this SN. We attempt to design two age-optimal trajectories, referred to as the Max-AoI-optimal and Ave-AoI-optimal trajectories, respectively. The Max-AoI-optimal trajectory planning is to minimize the age of the 'oldest' sensed information among the SNs. The Ave-AoI-optimal trajectory planning is to minimize the average AoI of all the SNs. Then, we show that each age-optimal flight trajectory corresponds to a shortest Hamiltonian path in the wireless sensor network where the distance between any two SNs represents the amount of inter-visit time. The dynamic programming (DP) method and genetic algorithm (GA) are adopted to find the two different age-optimal trajectories. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods, and show how the UAV's trajectory is affected by the two AoI metrics. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

TripletGAN: Training generative model with triplet loss

As an effective way of metric learning, triplet loss has been widely used in many deep learning tasks, including face recognition and person-ReID, leading to many states of the arts. The main innovation of triplet loss is using feature map to replace softmax in the classification task. Inspired by this concept, we propose here a new adversarial modeling method by substituting the classification loss of discriminator to triplet loss. Theoretical proof based on IPM (Integral probability metric) demonstrates that such setting will help generator converge to the given distribution theoretically under some conditions. Moreover, since triplet loss requires the generator to maximize distance within a class, we justify tripletGAN is also helpful to prevent mode collapse through both theory and experiment.
