Iron has been increasingly studied over the past decade as a potential material for biodegradable bone implants due to its favorable mechanical strength and degradability. However, its slow corrosion rate in both in vitro and in vivo environments poses a challenge to its use as a temporary medical implant. In this study, the effects of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) addition on the corrosion behavior of an Fe matrix were assessed in two different solutions: phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) and protein-containing cell culture medium (RPMI-Pro). The results indicate a significant difference in the corrosion rate and behavior of Fe-rGO composites, with notably faster degradation observed in RPMI-Pro. Electrochemical and immersion tests revealed that rGO enhances the in vitro corrosion of Fe scaffolds, primarily due to its high surface area and favorable electrical conductivity, which accelerate redox reactions within the scaffolds. The Fe-0.5rGO sample immersed in RPMI-Pro exhibited a higher corrosion rate, as the adsorbed fetal bovine serum (FBS) proteins facilitated Fe dissolution by complexing with Fe ions, thereby preventing the formation of a low-solubility, dense Fe-based oxide passive layer. © 2025, The Authors. Engineering-Oriented curriculum to high school gifted students: A case of paper mechanism

The STEAM interdisciplinary integrated-thematic curriculum with engineering design is the main concept of the 12-year basic education curricula of technology. This research is based on the engineering design orientation as a teaching strategy, developing project for paper mechanism, and implementing Living technology courses for gifted high school students in Taiwan to test the teaching effectiveness. In the project, students need to integrate the theory, using engineering design process methods, performing work prediction and evaluation, prototyping experiments and trial work, and finally optimizing the work and improving the design. The results of the present study facilitate us get deeper understanding of the practical implementation and engineering thinking skills of gifted students. Suggestions based on the results were generated to improve the future Living technology curriculum. The findings in this study serve as a reference for the future design, development, and implementation of STEAM curricula.

Due to the widespread nature of sun-related health risks, sophisticated UV monitoring systems are urgently needed. This research study introduces a cloud-based UV monitoring system with the intent of remotely tracking and analyzing UV exposure in real time. The system incorporates a network of UV sensors deployed in various locations, continuously collecting UV radiation data. These sensors are linked to a cloud system, which allows for easy sharing and processing of collected data. As a result, we're working to perfect a cutting-edge device that can monitor vitamin D absorption, measure cumulative UV exposure, and warn of impending danger. Extensive studies have demonstrated the benefits of UV exposure for both general health and protection against the newly discovered coronavirus. However, finding a happy medium is important because too much sun exposure can cause cancer, lupus flares, and cataracts. The proposed model gives users the ability to set their own daily UV exposure limits, taking into account clinically validated thresholds for various skin tones. The developed sensor module is able to measure the UV index with high precision even in bright sunlight because it closely mimics the skin erythema spectrum.

The incidence of myopia has increased rapidly in recent decades, suggesting that environmental factors, such as light,may be an important cause. Correlated color temperature(CCT) is a commonly used index to quantify the spectral composition of light. Here, we used 32 juvenile monkeys(16 females and 16 males) and selected four kinds of light with typical but different CCTs to study the relationship between CCT and ocular axial elongation.

The circadian clock is the inner rhythm of life activities and is controlled by a self-sustained and endogenous molecular clock,which maintains a～24 h internal *** the core element of the circadian clock,BMAL1 is susceptible to degradation through the ubiquitin-proteasome system(UPS).Nevertheless,scant information is available regarding the UPS enzymes that intricately modulate both the stability and transcriptional activity of BMAL1,affecting the cellular circadian *** this work,we identify and validate UBR5 as a new E3 ubiquitin ligase that interacts with BMAL1 by using affinity purification,mass spectrometry,and biochemical ***5 overexpression induced BMAL1 ubiquitination,leading to diminished stability and reduced protein level of BMAL1,thereby attenuating its transcriptional *** with this,UBR5 knockdown increases the BMAL1 *** mapping discloses that the C-terminus of BMAL1 interacts with the N-terminal domains of ***,cell-line-based experiments discover that HYD,the UBR5 homolog in Drosophila,could interact with and downregulate CYCLE,the BMAL1 homolog in ***2-luciferase bioluminescence real-time reporting assay in a mammalian cell line and behavioral experiments in Drosophila reveal that UBR5 or hyd knockdown significantly reduces the period of the circadian ***,our work discovers a new ubiquitin ligase UBR5 that regulates BMAL1 stability and circadian rhythm and elucidates the underlying molecular *** work provides an additional layer of complexity to the regulatory network of the circadian clock at the post-translational modification level,offering potential insights into the modulation of the dysregulated circadian rhythm.

Understanding the research landscape of any domain is of primary importance at all stages of a concept's evolution. Research in the domain of analytics has increased exponentially in the past decade, analytics is a tool being applied to increase effectiveness and efficiency within all domains. Similarly, there are numerous research studies that have applied analytics to the domain of higher education. Assessing research activity is important for planning future research and identifying the way forward to make meaningful contributions. The objective of this paper is to examine the current research in this domain and to identify emerging areas of research to make meaningful contributions. Bibliometric analysis was applied using Scopus. Documents on analytics and higher education keywords in business, accounting and management and published in journals were considered for the analysis. Vos Viewer was used for bibliometric analysis in the area, to identify emerging research themes and to understand the scope of applying analytics in higher education. The search query found 1635 documents when using the keywords of “analytics” and “higher education”. This was further narrowed down to research in Business Management and Accounting and using Journal articles and conference articles, finally yielding 103 articles. After a primary read to remove articles misplaced in the group the final number of articles include for the bibliometric analysis came down to 98. There has been an increase in publications since 2018 with interest increasing post pandemic in the area. The research categories are Student outcomes and perspective, academician outcomes and perspective, design of learning systems, etc. Based on this, it is recommended that research should focus on theoretical aspects of applying analytics to HEIs, ethical issues in data collection, etc..

Significant privacy and security concerns apply to the Internet of Things. IoT issues might include driver ignorance, inadequate device updates, a lack of robust and effective safeguards, and unreliable dynamic instrument management. The study’s objectives include identifying (a) various cybersecurity concern regarding, (b) techniques for attempting to secure IoT-enabled options and buildings, (c) available at the moment security remedies, and (d) the much more acceptable privacy depictions for the differing stages of technology apps. Researchers proposed a new, generally expanded layered paradigm that included security and privacy tools as well as layer documenting. the recommended virtualized Internet of Things system’s deployment and evaluation. Internet of Things (IoT) units built as virtualized using Amazon Web Services make the bottom layer (AWS). The topcoat was developed by researchers utilising AWS’s cloud-based IoT platform (the cloud). To allow data transfer between the envisioned cloud/edge authorised IoT representation’s levels, researchers have created ssl certificates.

We present a230Th-dated stalagmite oxygen isotope(δ^18O)record from Loushanguan Cave in the Yangtze River valley,***^δ18O record,if viewed as a proxy of the Asian summer monsoon(ASM)intensity,provides an ASM history for the early Holocene with clear centennial-scale variability.A significant approximately 200-yr cycle between 10.2 and 9.1 ka BP(before present,where"present"is defined as the year AD 1950),as revealed by spectral power analyses,is of global significance and is probably forced by the Suess or de Vries cycle of solar ***,we explore a physical mechanism to explain the relationship between the solar activity and the ASM.A strong coherence between the ASM and El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO)has been observed by performing crosswavelet analyses on this *** study suggests that a strong(weak)ASM state corresponds to a warm(cold)ENSO,which is consistent with modern meteorological observations but contrasts with previous studies on regions far from the Meiyu *** argue that the centennial fluctuations of the ASM are a fundamental characteristic forced by the solar activity,with the ENSO variability as a *** relationship between ENSO and the ASM displayed spatial heterogeneity on the centennial scale during the early Holocene,which is a more direct analogue to the observed modern interannual variability of the ASM.

Bacterial infection can delay wound healing, while drug resistance further complicates the treatment of wound infection. Phototherapy, including photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT), is a non/mini-invasive and efficient antibacterial strategy that rarely induces bacterial resistance. This treatment relies on specific wavelengths of light to activate photothermal agents (PTAs) or photosensitizers, killing bacteria by generating local heats or reactive oxygen species (ROS), respectively. However, the light for traditional PTT/PDT mainly falls in the visible and near-infrared I light (Vis/NIR-I light, 400–900 nm) regions, which significantly limits further clinical translations due to its low tissue permeability. The near-infrared II (NIR-II,1000–1700 nm) light is increasingly utilized in antibacterial PTT/PDT to improve tissue penetration and ameliorate the immune microenvironment of deeper wounds. Meanwhile, NIR-II light offers a higher maximum permissible exposure (MPE) for PTT/PDT in treating wound infections, thereby facilitating the security, in comparison to Vis/NIR-I light. This review highlights recent advancements in NIR-II PTT/PDT for drug-resistant wound infections, focusing on mechanisms, therapeutic outcomes, challenges, and prospects. © 2025
