Partially Linear Single-Index Model in the Presence of Measurement Error

The partially linear single-index model(PLSIM) is a flexible and powerful model for analyzing the relationship between the response and the multivariate covariates. This paper considers the PLSIM with measurement error possibly in all the variables. The authors propose a new efficient estimation procedure based on the local linear smoothing and the simulation-extrapolation method,and further establish the asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators for both the index parameter and nonparametric link function. The authors also carry out extensive Monte Carlo simulation studies to evaluate the finite sample performance of the new method, and apply it to analyze the osteoporosis prevention data.

Different psychiatric disorders share genetic relationships and pleiotropic loci to certain *** integrated and analyzed datasets related to major depressive disorder(MDD),bipolar disorder(BIP),and schizophrenia(SCZ)from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium using multitrait analysis of genome-wide association analysis(MTAG).MTAG significantly increased the effective sample size from 99,773 to 119,754 for MDD,from 909,061 to 1,450,972 for BIP,and from 856,677 to 940,613 for *** discovered 7,32,and 43 novel lead single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)and 1,6,and 3 novel causal SNPs for MDD,BIP,and SCZ,respectively,after *** identified rs8039305 in the FURIN gene as a novel pleiotropic locus across the three *** performed marker analysis of genomic annotation(MAGMA)and Hi-C-coupled MAGMA(H-MAGMA)based gene-set analysis and identified 101 genes associated with the three disorders,which were enriched in the regulation of postsynaptic membranes,postsynaptic membrane dopaminergic synapses,and Notch signaling ***,we performed Mendelian randomization analysis using different tools and detected a causal effect of BIP on ***,we demonstrated the usage of combined genome-wide association studies summary statistics for exploring potential novel mechanisms of the three psychiatric disorders,providing an alternative approach to integrate publicly available summary data.

Causal Effect Estimation for Multivariate Continuous Treatments

Causal inference is widely used in various fields, such as biology, psychology and economics, etc. In observational studies, we need to balance the covariates before estimating causal effect. This study extends the one-dimensional entropy balancing method to multiple dimensions to balance the covariates. Both parametric and nonparametric methods are proposed to estimate the causal effect of multivariate continuous treatments and theoretical properties of the two estimations are provided. Furthermore, the simulation results show that the proposed method is better than other methods in various cases. Finally, we apply the method to analyze the impact of the duration and frequency of smoking on medical expenditure. The results show that the frequency of smoking increases medical expenditure significantly while the duration of smoking does not. © 2022, CC BY.

A New Covariate Selection Strategy for High Dimensional data in Causal Effect Estimation with Multivariate Treatments

Selection of covariates is crucial in the estimation of average treatment effects given observational data with high or even ultra-high dimensional pretreatment variables. Existing methods for this problem typically assume sparse linear models for both outcome and univariate treatment, and cannot handle situations with ultra-high dimensional covariates. In this paper, we propose a new covariate selection strategy called double screening prior adaptive lasso (DSPAL) to select confounders and predictors of the outcome for multivariate treatments, which combines the adaptive lasso method with the marginal conditional (in)dependence prior information to select target covariates, in order to eliminate confounding bias and improve statistical efficiency. The distinctive features of our proposal are that it can be applied to high-dimensional or even ultra-high dimensional covariates for multivariate treatments, and can deal with the cases of both parametric and nonparametric outcome models, which makes it more robust compared to other methods. Our theoretical analyses show that the proposed procedure enjoys the sure screening property, the ranking consistency property and the variable selection consistency. Through a simulation study, we demonstrate that the proposed approach selects all confounders and predictors consistently and estimates the multivariate treatment effects with smaller bias and mean squared error compared to several alternatives under various scenarios. In real data analysis, the method is applied to estimate the causal effect of a three-dimensional continuous environmental treatment on cholesterol level and enlightening results are obtained. © 2023, CC BY.

Novel view synthesis often needs the paired data from both the source and target views. This paper proposes a view translation model under cVAE-GAN framework without requiring the paired data. We design a conditional deformable module (CDM) which uses the view condition vectors as the filters to convolve the feature maps of the main branch in VAE. It generates several pairs of displacement maps to deform the features, like the 2D optical flows. The results are fed into the deformed feature based normalization module (DFNM), which scales and offsets the main branch feature, given its deformed one as the input from the side branch. Taking the advantage of the CDM and DFNM, the encoder outputs a view-irrelevant posterior, while the decoder takes the code drawn from it to synthesize the reconstructed and the view-translated images. To further ensure the disentanglement between the views and other factors, we add adversarial training on the code. The results and ablation studies on MultiPIE and 3D chair datasets validate the effectiveness of the framework in cVAE and the designed module. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Risk Indicators and its application to Capital Allocation

Capital allocation is a core task in ffnancial reporting and risk management. This paper proposes two risk indicators, which can be applied to the ffeld of capital allocation modelling. We derive the optimal conditions for these two class of risk indicators and arrive at some properties for the corresponding allocation principles. Finally, we perform numerical calculation by examples to illustrate the effects of the parameters on the optimal allocation strategies, for instance, the independent exponentials and FGM bivariate model cases. © 2023, The Authors. Differentially Private Precision Matrix Estimation

In this paper, we study the problem of precision matrix estimation when the dataset contains sensitive information. In the differential privacy framework, we develop a differentially private ridge estimator by perturbing the sample covariance matrix. Then we develop a differentially private graphical lasso estimator by using the alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM) ***, we prove theoretical results showing that the differentially private ridge estimator for the precision matrix is consistent under fixed-dimension asymptotic, and establish a convergence rate of differentially private graphical lasso estimator in the Frobenius norm as both data dimension p and sample size n are allowed to grow. The empirical results that show the utility of the proposed methods are also provided.

The construction of two kinds of bijections in simple random walk paths

MSC Codes 60C05, 60J10It is known that for the 2n-step symmetric simple random walk on , two events have the same probability if and only if their sets of paths have the same cardinality. In this article, we construct two kinds of bijections between sets of paths with the same cardinality. The construction is natural and simple. It can be easily realized through programming. More importantly, this construction opens a door to prove that two events in the 2n-step symmetric simple random walk on Z have the same probability and some further related results.
