This article aims to analyze the innovation scores of IT companies and their respective clusters, resulting in a tool for constructing knowledge about these companies and gaining useful information for comparison purposes, since few studies are focused on innovation in Brazilian IT companies, especially microenterprises. A case study methodology was used in this research, and to measure innovation, the model proposed by Edison, Ali and Tonkar (2013) was used. The target audience was the LPA of information technology companies in southwest Paraná, being composed of 50 companies divided into 3 clusters. The data collection was based on a survey with 43 questions built according to the Likert Scale. As a result of the application of the Kruskall-Wallis test, with 5% significance, it was observed that there is a difference between the innovation scores of each cluster, with Clusters 1 and 3 having higher scores. As for the relationship between innovation and turnover, the Spearman Correlation test, with 5% significance, showed that there is a moderate relationship between innovation scores and company turnover. Measuring innovation, both individually and in clusters, is important in the information technology sector because it allows management to see weaknesses and strengths, and implement improvements and changes that ensure increased competitiveness and permanence in the market. © 2017 DEStech Publications. Companies are more commonly adopting the distributed teams' model, in order to increase their knowledge and skill set. In doing so the company will obtain several benefits, but it will lose its personal touch in managing their employees. Aiming to verify if this tradeoff is beneficial for the company, Performance Measurement systems are more and more being applied to distributed teams and to follow this growth researchers are consistently focusing on this area. Due to this focus the count of articles reporting developments in the required capabilities to form and manage distributed teams performance measurement system increases as well. Along the way some researchers are developing/applying different types of literature review on the subject in order to identify its growth and the main areas the topic is growing. Following this trend the author performed a systematic review on the theme "Which organizational capabilities/competences a company must have in order to manage/develop distributed teams performance?". This paper aims to present a model to evaluate such literature review in order to quantify and qualify the results to make it even more clearly to other researchers. Based on the results of the research, others will be able to compare the research areas and contribute with its development.

The problem of failure occurrence in flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) tends to increase according to their complexity leading to time-consuming tasks as the localisation and repairing. The occurrence of failures during the exploitation stage can deeply modify the FMS performances or its availability. We want to investigate the maintenance integration into a control-monitoring framework, from the control system's early design stage to the maintenance policies execution, so as to improve production time and minimize unplanned costly breakdowns of FMS. This paper proposes a modular and hierarchic control-monitoring-maintenance architecture (CMM) for FMS based on Petri nets with objects (PNO). These efforts acts as a basis for the control architecture of a robot-driven flexible cell, connected to the Ethernet-TCP/IP. © 2006 IEEE.

ABSTRACTHybrid energy projects are gaining global interest due to their potential to promote sustainable development. This study addresses a gap in the literature by proposing a stochastic model that assesses the economic feasibility of a hybrid energy system combining wind, photovoltaic generation, and battery storage. Unlike traditional deterministic approaches, the model incorporates uncertainties in key financial and operational variables, improving decision-making in real-world conditions. The optimization framework integrates Design of Experiments (DoE), Response Surface Methodology (RSM), and the Desirability function to balance economic return and financial risk. By maximizing the mean and minimizing the variance of the Net Present Value (NPV), the model identifies an optimal system configuration with 92% wind energy, a demand level of 230 kWh/month, and lithium-ion battery storage. This approach reduces computational complexity and enhances hybrid system viability in regions with strong wind resources, providing a valuable tool for investors and policymakers in sustainable energy planning.

Strategies when unfolded through a systematic methodology, can ensure a greater probability of positive return for organizations such as increased quality and reduced production costs. In this paper, it will be presented the development of a systematic methodology for Strategic Management of Operations, with the objective of proposing the construction and refinement of a conceptual model used to develop Strategies. The organizations used in the research sample are characterized to be in the area of Service Operations in Project regimes. This methodology can optimize the use of a correct approach to the processes of development of Strategies, with more accurate monitoring of all stages of implementation. Finally, the study allows us to analyze the application of the methodology, checking its academic contributions and the results of the case studies analyzed.

Faced with a scenario where the growth of urban centers is increasing, the BRT system comes as a viable solution to this, enabling the development of functional bus corridors, serving to meet the demand of rapid shifts, especially in areas with high population density. However, to characterize as a system, it is necessary to measure their level of performance in the face of various aspects that are part of his characterization. For this, the article aims to study the main criteria influencers for the development of a performance measurement system for the BRT systems in Brazil, using for this the bibliographic research, technical manuals and expert opinion about the subject, focusing, at the end of this, to reveal these criteria, aiming at the future the elaboration of indicators to facilitate its performance evaluation.

This study proposes to identify and select indicators contributing to the evaluation of the levels of sustainability in the family agriculture production of castor beans in the state of Paraíba. To achieve these objectives, we used the Pressure-State-Impact-Response (PSIR) model, which describes the human activities, processes and standards that impact on sustainable development. The methodology was based on Descriptive and Exploratory research applied in a case study of an agricultural cooperative. The primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with representatives of public organs and agriculturists. Based on the reality and the problems that affecting the production system, a total 47 indicators were set, classified and tailored to the specifics of the activity, considering the different dimensions of sustainability. The results showed that the indicators selected enabled the systemic analysis of agricultural activity, facilitating the identification of the positive and negative aspects that influence the productive sector, and also propose possible solutions and improvements to stimulating the local oleaginous production.

The purpose of this article is to introduce the reference model architeture used in the development of a reference model for pharmaceutical Product Development Process. The model was created founded on renowned methods as Concurrent engineering, Stage Gates and Product Based Business. It was developed using legislation and information from interviews with professionals of Brazilian pharmaceutical companies and information from Project Management. This architeture supported the development of a reference model for the pharmaceutical PDP management, which is adjusted to the Brazilian companies' reality and demand. © 2007 Springer-Verlag London Limited.

GIS-Based Methodology for Crash Prediction on Single-Lane Rural Highways

Due to the need to update the current guidelines for highway design to focus on safety, this study sought to build an accident prediction model using a Geographic Information System (GIS) for single-lane rural highways, with a minimum of statistically significant variables, adequate to the Brazilian reality, and improve accident prediction for places with similar characteristics. A database was created to associate the accident records with the geometric parameters of the highway and to fill in the gaps left by the absence of geometric highway plans through geometric reconstitution or semi-automatic extraction of highways using satellite images. The Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) method was applied to estimate the coefficients of the model, assuming negative distribution of the binomial error for the count of observed accidents. The accident frequency and annual average daily traffic (AADT) were analyzed, along with the spatial and geometric characteristics of 215 km of federal single-lane rural highways between 2007 and 2016. The GEE procedure was applied to two models having three variations of distinct homogeneous segmentation, two based on segments and one based on the kernel density estimator. To assess the effect of constant traffic, two more variations of the models using AADT as an offset variable were considered. The predominant correlation structure in the models was the exchangeable. The principal contributing factors for the occurrence of collisions were the radius of the horizontal curve, the grade, segment length, and the AADT. The study produced clear indicators for the design parameters of roadways that influence the safety performance of rural highways.

In accordance with Industry 4.0, data should be used for process and/or system integration, including the decision-making process. In this context, this paper aims to relate the process of decision-making with process mining through concept maps, assisting the areas of Data engineering and Analytics. To do so, some Multiple-Criteria Decision-Making/Analysis (MCDM/A) methods will be addressed in order to conceptually highlight the relationship between knowledge and decision dimensions. As a result, the definitions about these fields of study allow perceiving an information and knowledge conciliation approach promoted by the integrated view of process mining and MCDM/A methods. © 2017 The Authors
