POINTWISE ESTIMATES FOR THE FUNDAMENTAL SOLUTIONS OF HIGHER ORDER SCHRÖDINGER EQUATIONS IN ODD DIMENSIONS I: LOW DIMENSIONAL CASE

In this paper, for any odd n and any integer m ≥ 1 with n tu(x, t) = ((−∆)m + V(x))u(x, t), t ∈ , x ∈ n, where V is a real-valued potential with certain decay. Let Pac(H) denote the projection onto the absolutely continuous spectrum space of H = (−∆)m + V, and assume that H has no positive embedded eigenvalue. Our main result says that e−itHPac(H) has integral kernel K(t, x, y) satisfying (Equation presented), where the constants C, h > 0, and h can be specified by m, n and the zero energy resonances of H. A similar result for smoothing operators like (Equation presented) is also given. One of the main novelties lies in a new and unified approach to obtain the asymptotic expansions of perturbed resolvents under various types of zero energy resonances. © 2024, CC0.

In this paper, we develop a general rectangular multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann (RMRT-LB) method for the Navier-Stokes equations (NSEs) and nonlinear convection-diffusion equation (NCDE) by extending our recent unified framework of the multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann (MRT-LB) method [Chai and Shi, Phys. Rev. E 102, 023306 (2020)], where an equilibrium distribution function (EDF) [Lu et al., Philos. Trans. R. Soc. A 369, 2311 (2011)] on a rectangular lattice is utilized. The anisotropy of the lattice tensor on a rectangular lattice leads to anisotropy of the third-order moment of the EDF, which is inconsistent with the isotropy of the viscous stress tensor of the NSEs. To eliminate this inconsistency, we extend the relaxation matrix related to the dynamic and bulk viscosities. As a result, the macroscopic NSEs can be recovered from the RMRT-LB method through the direct Taylor expansion method. Whereas the rectangular lattice does not lead to the change of the zero-, first- and second-order moments of the EDF, the unified framework of the MRT-LB method can be directly applied to the NCDE. It should be noted that the RMRT-LB model for NSEs can be derived on the rDdQq (q discrete velocities in d-dimensional space, d≥1) lattice, including rD2Q9, rD3Q19, and rD3Q27 lattices, while there are no rectangular D3Q13 and D3Q15 lattices within this framework of the RMRT-LB method. Thanks to the block-lower triangular relaxation matrix introduced in the unified framework, the RMRT-LB versions (if existing) of the previous MRT-LB models can be obtained, including those based on raw (natural) moment, central moment, Hermite moment, and central Hermite moment. It is also found that when the parameter cs is an adjustable parameter in the standard or rectangular lattice, the present RMRT-LB method becomes a kind of MRT-LB method for the NSEs and NCDE, and the commonly used MRT-LB models on the DdQq lattice are only its special cases. Establishing correspondence between shapes is a very important and active research topic in many domains. Due to the powerful ability of deep learning on geometric data, lots of attractive results have been achieved by convolutional neural networks (CNNs). In this paper, we propose a novel architecture for shape correspondence, termed Anisotropic Chebyshev spectral CNNs (ACSCNNs), based on a new extension of the manifold convolution operator. The extended convolution operators aggregate the local features of signals by a set of oriented kernels around each point, which allows to much more comprehensively capture the intrinsic signal information. Rather than using fixed oriented kernels in the spatial domain in previous CNNs, in our framework, the kernels are learned by spectral filtering, based on the eigen-decompositions of multiple Anisotropic Laplace-Beltrami Operators. To reduce the computational complexity, we employ an explicit expansion of the Chebyshev polynomial basis to represent the spectral filters whose expansion coefficients are trainable. Through the benchmark experiments of shape correspondence, our architecture is demonstrated to be efficient and be able to provide better than the state-of-the-art results in several datasets even if using constant functions as inputs.

In this work, we establish the Freidlin-Wentzell large deviations principle (LDP) of the stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equation with small noise, which implies the one-point LDP. Further, we give the one-point LDP of the spatial finite difference method (FDM) for the stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equation. Our main result is the convergence of the one-point large deviations rate function (LDRF) of the spatial FDM, which is about the asymptotical limit of a parametric variational problem. The main idea for proving the convergence of the LDRF of the spatial FDM is via the Γ-convergence of objective functions, which relies on the qualitative analysis of skeleton equations of the original equation and the numerical method. In order to overcome the difficulty that the drift coefficient is not one-side Lipschitz, we use the equivalent characterization of the skeleton equation of the spatial FDM and the discrete interpolation inequality to obtain the uniform boundedness of the solution to the underlying skeleton equation. In this paper, we present a convergence analysis of the Group Projected Subspace Pursuit (GPSP) algorithm proposed by He et al. [HKL+23] (Group Projected subspace pursuit for IDENTification of variable coefficient differential equations (GP-IDENT), Journal of Computational Physics, 494, 112526) and extend its application to general tasks of block sparse signal recovery. We prove that when the sampling matrix satisfies the Block Restricted Isometry Property (BRIP) with a sufficiently small Block Restricted Isometry Constant (BRIC), GPSP exactly recovers the true block sparse signals. When the observations are noisy, this convergence property of GPSP remains valid if the magnitude of the true signal is sufficiently large. GPSP selects the features by subspace projection criterion (SPC) for candidate inclusion and response magnitude criterion (RMC) for candidate exclusion. We compare these criteria with counterparts of other state-of-the-art greedy algorithms. Our theoretical analysis and numerical ablation studies reveal that SPC is critical to the superior performances of GPSP, and that RMC can enhance the robustness of feature identification when observations contain noises. We test and compare GPSP with other methods in diverse settings, including heterogeneous random block matrices, inexact observations, face recognition, and PDE identification. We find that GPSP outperforms the other algorithms in most cases for various levels of block sparsity and block sizes, justifying its effectiveness for general applications. © 2024, CC BY.

In this work, a ternary phase-field model for two-phase flows in complex geometries is proposed. In this model, one of the three components in the classical ternary Cahn-Hilliard model is considered as the solid phase, and only one Cahn-Hilliard equation with degenerate mobility needs to be solved due to the condition of volume conservation, which is consistent with the standard phase-field model with a single-scalar variable for two-phase flows. To depict different wetting properties at the complex fluid-solid boundaries, the spreading parameters in ternary phase-field model are determined based on the Young's law, in which the liquid-solid surface tension coefficient is assumed to be a linear function of gas-liquid surface tension coefficient and related to the contact angle and the minimum curvature of the solid surface. In addition, to achieve a high viscosity in the solid phase and preserve the velocity boundary conditions on the solid surface, the phase-field variable of the solid phase is also used to derive the modified Navier-Stokes equations. To test the present model, we further develop a consistent and conservative Hermite-moment based lattice Boltzmann method where an adjustable scale factor is introduced to improve the numerical stability, and conduct the numerical simulations of several benchmark problems. We establish two precise asymptotic results on the Birkhoff sums for dynamical systems. These results are parallel to that on the arithmetic sums of independent and identically distributed random variables previously obtained by Hsu and Robbins, Erdős, Heyde. An efficient third-order discrete unified gas kinetic scheme (DUGKS) with efficiency is presented in this work for simulating continuum and rarefied flows. By employing two-stage time-stepping scheme and the high-order DUGKS flux reconstruction strategy, third-order of accuracy in both time and space can be achieved in the present method. It is also analytically proven that the second-order DUGKS is a special case of the present method. Compared with the high-order lattice Boltzmann equation LBE based methods, the present method is capable to deal with the rarefied flows by adopting the Newton-Cotes quadrature to approximate the integrals of moments. Instead of being constrained by the second-order (or lower-order) of accuracy in time splitting scheme as in the conventional high-order Runge-Kutta (RK) based kinetic methods, the present method solves the original BE, which overcomes the limitation in time accuracy. Typical benchmark tests are carried out for comprehensive evaluation of the present method. It is observed in the tests that the present method is advantageous over the original DUGKS in accuracy and capturing delicate flow structures. This paper studies observability inequalities for heat equations on both bounded domains and the whole space Rd. The observation sets are measured by log-type Hausdorff contents, which are induced by certain log-type gauge functions closely related to the heat kernel. On a bounded domain, we derive the observability inequality for observation sets of positive log-type Hausdorff content. Notably, the aforementioned inequality holds not only for all sets with Hausdorff dimension s for any s ∈ (d−1, d], but also for certain sets of Hausdorff dimension d − 1. On the whole space Rd, we establish the observability inequality for observation sets that are thick at the scale of the log-type Hausdorff content. Furthermore, we prove that for the 1-dimensional heat equation on an interval, the Hausdorff content we have chosen is an optimal scale for the observability inequality. To obtain these observability inequalities, we use the adapted Lebeau-Robiano strategy from [14]. For this purpose, we prove the following results at scale of the log-type Hausdorff content, the former being derived from the latter: We establish a spectral inequality/a Logvinenko-Sereda uncertainty principle;we set up a quantitative propagation of smallness of analytic functions;we build up a Remez’ inequality;and more fundamentally, we provide an upper bound for the log-type Hausdorff content of a set where a monic polynomial is small, based on an estimate in Lubinsky [35], which is ultimately traced back to the classical Cartan Lemma. In addition, we set up a capacity-based slicing lemma (related to the log-type gauge functions) and establish a quantitative relationship between Hausdorff contents and capacities.
