This paper presents a novel approach to automatically generate a plausible 3D model from a single outdoor image. Outdoor scene can be modeled as a set of planar billboards such as ground, sky and vertical trees or buildings. This Cut-and-Fold system takes the advantages of the statistical classification method for high-level geometric labeling of the image regions and the automatic image segmentation algorithm for detailed boundaries of the geometric regions to generate accurate geometric labeling and realistic rendering of novel views. Taking a single image as input, our method first roughly classifies each sub-region to the geometric categories: vertical, ground or sky. Then image segmentation algorithm is employed to refine the labeling results and generate accurate boundaries for the geometric regions. After cutting the image into several regions with their geometric labels, the system folds the regions into 3D billboards with accurate boundaries. The experimental results demonstrate that our method is capable of creating plausible 3D models automatically for a wide range of outdoor scenes.

The distributed networked controlsystems are considered in this paper. Several sub-systems which are connected with each other through a communication network make up the whole system. Each sub-system has its own quantizer so that any information which needs be transmitted to other sub-systems will be quantized due to limited bandwidth. Meanwhile, the actuator faults, including outage, loss of effectiveness and stuck are also considered in our research. A mode-based state feedback controller is given in this paper to stable such NCSs and to meet the robust H-inf performance. A simulation example is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of our method finally.

Predicting the spacial folding structure of a protein, given its sequence of amino acids, is one of the central problems in computational biology field. This paper studies the AB off-lattice model with two species of monomers, called hydrophobic (A) and hydrophilic (B). Based on this simplified model, the low energy configurations are searched by using the GAPSO. A kind of optimization about the mutation mechanism and the Euclidean interference mechanism are presented, where a novel local adjustment strategy is also used to enhance the searching ability of the global minimum within the AB off-lattice model. Starting from random conformations, the GAPSO method can find the low-energy conformation of the Fibonacci sequences and the real protein sequences. Compared with other optimization methods, the proposed novel method could converge to the lower energy folds. It appears that the proposed method can used for solving protein folding problem, which is based on the thermodynamic hypothesis.

Load distribution is a key technology in hot strip rolling process, which directly influences strip product quality. A multi-objective load distribution model, which takes into account the rolling force margin balance, roll wear ratio and strip shape control, is presented. To avoid the selection of weight coefficients encountered in single objective optimization, a multi-objective differential evolutionary algorithm, called MaximinDE, is proposed to solve this model. The experimental results based on practical production data indicate that MaximinDE can obtain a good pareto-optimal solution set, which consists of a series of alternative solutions to load distribution. Decision-makers can select a trade-off solution from the pareto-optimal solution set based on their experience or the importance of ob- iectives. In comparison with the empirical load distribution solution, the trade-off solution can achieve a better per- formance, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the multi-objective load distribution optimization. Moreover, the conflicting relationship among different objectives can be also found, which is another advantage of multi-objective load distribution optimization.

This paper focuses on an integral sliding mode control(ISMC) algorithm for the fault-tolerant control of linear continuous multi-input systems with non-smooth nonsymmetric actuator dead-zone failure and unmatched *** dead-zone is first modeled as a combination of a line and a disturbance-like term. And the novelty of the paper lies in that the treatment of the deadzone failure based on the simplified dead-zone model. The bounded disturbancelike term which enters the state equation at the same point as the control input can be rejected completely by ISMC technology, and the linear part of the deadzone will be compensated by state feedback controller based on linear matrix inequality(LMI). It is worth pointing out that once the system is in the sliding mode, the proposed integral sliding mode control law ensures that the dead zone is compensated completely and sustains the better nature of performing unmatched perturbations attenuation than utilizing H∞ control analytical technique alone. Finally, the feasibility of our proposed algorithm is illustrated by using a numerical example.

This paper focuses on integral sliding mode output control for linear delta operator systems with insensitivity to sampling time jitter in the case of small sampling times along with unmatched disturbances. A delta-domain integral sliding mode sector can be reached without chattering by employing a novel reaching law to avoid the inherent numerical ill-condition resulting from using the traditional shift-domain model at high sampling rates. Parameter sensitivity function of the transfer function with respect to sampling time jitter is also defined to mitigate the effect of sampling time jitter which may cause significant degradation of the overall system performance. By combining the novel bounded real lemma for delta operator using integral sliding mode adaptive control approach, a method of designing output feedback controller with insensitive to sample time jitter based on linear matrix inequality(LMI) is proposed, where the corresponding reaching law proposed is able to reduce the chattering. Finally, a numerical example is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
