Visual anomaly detection is an important and challenging problem in the field of machine learning and computer vision. In this paper, we address the problem of unsupervised visual anomaly detection from the perspective of image feature restoration. We propose deep feature inpainting (DFI) where we develop a deep learning model that can automatically inpainting the normal image patterns or features from the anomalous images by eliminating the irregular structures or patterns. By comparing the anomalous features and their reconstructed counterparts, we can identify and analyze the anomalous structures in the images. Extensive experiments have been carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Image quality assessment (IQA) is the problem of measuring the perceptual quality of images, which is crucial for many image-related applications. It is a difficult task due to the coupling of various degradation and the scarcity of annotations. To facilitate a better understanding of IQA, we survey the recent advances in deep learning based IQA methods, which have demonstrated remarkable performance and innovation in this field. We classify the IQA methods into two main groups: reference-based and reference-free methods. Reference-based methods compare query images with reference images, while reference-free methods do not. We further subdivide reference-based methods into full-reference and reduced-reference methods, depending on the amount of information they need from the reference images, and reference-free methods into single-input, pair-input, and multimodal-input methods, according to the form of input they use. The advantages and limitations of each category are analyzed and some representative examples of state-of-the-art methods are provided. We conclude our paper by highlighting some of the future directions and open challenges in deep learning based IQA. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Graph Neural Networks with Learnable and Optimal Polynomial Bases

Polynomial filters, a kind of Graph Neural Networks, typically use a predetermined polynomial basis and learn the coefficients from the training data. It has been observed that the effectiveness of the model is highly dependent on the property of the polynomial basis. Consequently, two natural and fundamental questions arise: Can we learn a suitable polynomial basis from the training data? Can we determine the optimal polynomial basis for a given graph and node features? In this paper, we propose two spectral GNN models that provide positive answers to the questions posed above. First, inspired by Favard’s Theorem, we propose the FavardGNN model, which learns a polynomial basis from the space of all possible orthonormal bases. Second, we examine the supposedly unsolvable definition of optimal polynomial basis from Wang & Zhang (2022) and propose a simple model, OptBasisGNN, which computes the optimal basis for a given graph structure and graph signal. SOVC: Subject-Oriented Video Captioning

Describing video content according to users’ needs is a long-held goal. Although existing video captioning methods have made significant progress, the generated captions may not focus on the entity that users are particularly interested in. To address this problem, we propose a new video captioning task, Subject-Oriented Video Captioning (SOVC), which aims to allow users to specify the describing target via a bounding box. To support this task, we construct two subject-oriented video captioning datasets based on two widely used video captioning datasets: MSVD and MSRVTT, by annotating subjects in each video for each caption. These datasets pave the way for describing users’ interested targets. To tackle this task, we introduce a method tailored to this task, named SOVCNet. It consists of two key components: a subject-oriented sampling module that samples frames related to the subject to minimize irrelevant information;and a subject-oriented encoding module that utilizes the subject areas as hard prompts and integrates learnable soft prompts, enhancing the model’s focus on the subject’s activities and facilitating adaptation to the downstream generation task. Recent developments in large language models (LLMs) have opened new avenues for the real estate industry. These models not only understand language but also function as intelligent agents, engaging with investors through open-ended conversations and influencing their decision-making. Utilizing unstructured data from a professional Danish real estate website, we developed a real estate AI agent in both English and Danish using LangChain and Pinecone. Through testing and evaluation, our agent has demonstrated superior professional and concise outputs compared to other LLMs like Doubao and ChatGPT 4 and shown excellent performance and effectiveness. Our work serves as a reference for AI in real estate investment-related research and proposes new solutions to the "unprofessional foundation " and " expensive consulting fee" problems encountered by ordinary investors in their investment decisions.

As the main international trade channel of China’s “westward development”, the opening of China Railway Express has significantly improved the trade facilitation of countries along the route. This paper investigates the impact of the opening of China Railway Express sites on the employment choices of individuals by using the difference in difference method based on the economic panel data of China’s prefecture-level cities and the data on the opening of China Railway Express during the period of 2007~2019, which are matched by the correlation. The results of the study show that the opening of the China Railway Express increases the probability of individuals within the radiation area to enter the private sector for employment. The empirical results provide a new explanatory mechanism for the opening of the China Railway Express on economic growth, which has certain theoretical and policy value.

dataset distillation offers a lightweight synthetic dataset for fast network training with promising test accuracy. To imitate the performance of the original dataset, most approaches employ bi-level optimization and the distillation space relies on the matching architecture. Nevertheless, these approaches either suffer significant computational costs on large-scale datasets or experience performance decline on cross-architectures. We advocate for designing an economical dataset distillation framework that is independent of the matching architectures. With empirical observations, we argue that constraining the consistency of the real and synthetic image spaces will enhance the cross-architecture generalization. Motivated by this, we introduce dataset Distillation via Disentangled Diffusion Model (D 4 M), an efficient framework for dataset distillation. Compared to architecture-dependent methods, D 4 M employs latent diffusion model to guarantee consistency and incorporates label information into category prototypes. The distilled datasets are versatile, eliminating the need for repeated generation of distinct datasets for various architectures. Through comprehensive experiments, D4M demonstrates superior performance and robust generalization, surpassing the SOTA methods across most aspects.

Incomplete-view oriented kernel learning method with generalization error bound

Multi-view learning (MVL) is a promising direction and most MVL methods work under the assumption that data are complete in all views. However, this assumption is often violated in practice due to the difficulties of high cost, equipment failure, and so on. Besides, the amount of data with missing views is particularly huge. Therefore, it is challenging yet valuable to fully leverage the large-scale incomplete-view data. Enlightened by the reduced support vector machine (RSVM) and multi-view privileged support vector machine (PSVM-2V), this paper proposes an efficient kernel method called reduced PSVM-2V (RPSVM-2V). It can not only provide a novel solution to process incomplete-view data, but also can be adjusted to address large-scale complete-view learning problem efficiently. In addition, the idea of replacing the full kernel with a smaller rectangular reduced kernel is extended to develop another two MVL methods, i.e., reduced SVM-2K (RSVM-2K) and reduced multiple kernel learning method (RMKL). Furthermore, we analyze the generalization error bounds of RPSVM-2V and two extensions by using Rademacher complexity. The comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed models can achieve comparable performance with less time and memory cost. The spectral analysis has further verified the effectiveness of the reduced kernel used in our models. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.

Developing IP product has become a common differentiation strategy for retailers to attract customers and remain competence strength. This study uses empirical model to relate consumer characteristics with IP product purchase. The results show that consumers shopping on weekends are more likely to buy IP products, and consumers who have stocking behavior are less likely to purchase IP products. Consumers who are members of the retailer also have lower probability to buy IP products. These findings provide suggestions for the retailers who want to apply differentiation strategy by introducing co-branded IP products. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
