作者: Albero, M. The Author graduated from Lafayette College in 1957 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation he was assigned to USS NEWPORT NEWS (CA-148) followed by a tour as Chief Engineer of the USS DUPONT (DD-941). From June 1962 to June 1965 he attended a postgraduate course in Mechanical Engineering at the United States Naval Postgraduate School Monterey California and was awarded a Master of Science degree. While at the postgraduate school the work described in this paper was performed as a thesis and was supported by the Office of Naval Research through the Foundation Research Program of the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School. He is currently serving as Planning and Estimating Officer in the office of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding U. S. Navy Bath Maine. He is a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers Sigma Xi and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

作者: LANDY, M FREIbERG.A Milton Landy received his B.A. and M.A. Degrees in Chemistry at Brooklyn College Brooklyn New York and is presently studying for his PH.D. Degree at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Since 1957 he has been a Physical Chemist with the U.S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory where he has done fundamental and applied research in the fields of ice adhesion and ice release coatings. Arnold Freiberger received his Degree in Chemical Engineering at The City College of New York. Employed as a Materials Engineer at the U.S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory since 1952 he is the Task Leader of the Laboratory's program on naval cold weather problems and has done fundamental and applied research on ice adhesion and ice-release coatings. Since 1962 he has been in charge of the Laboratory's Marine-fouling research program and more recently has assumed leadership of the hydrofoil materials research program.

After working as a stress analysis engineer at Boeing Military Airplane Company in Wichita Kans. he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and received an M.S. in engineering mechanics in February 1988. He currently resides in Akron Ohio working as a research engineer in tire composites research at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. O. Hayden Griffin Jr.:received his B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1970 and 1971 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1980. Prior to joining the faculty of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as associate professor of engineering science and mechanics in September 1985 he was employed at the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (Dahlgren Virginia) BF Goodrich Tire Group (Akron Ohio) the Bendix Advanced Technology Center (Columbia Maryland) and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (Laurel Maryland). He is currently an associate director of the Virginia Institute for Material Systems. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society for Composites. Zafer Gürdal:received his M.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1981 and his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985. He worked as a research associate in the Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department at Virginia Tech before joining the Engineering Science and Mechanics Department as an assistant professor in September 1985. 作者: CIZEK, A.W. PETITO, N.J. Albert W. Cizek Jr. received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from New York University. He has been employed at the U.S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory since 1940. From 1940 to 1962 he was in charge of the Coating Section of the Laboratory. Currently he is the principal investigator in the Laboratory's programs on deck coatings and walkway materials structural vibration damping materials sonar dome protective coatings and anechoic coatings. Nicholas J. Petito received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Pratt Institute School of Science and Technology. He has been employed at the U.S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory since 1947 in the field of Paint Technology. Currently he is an investigator in the Laboratory's program for the development of sonar dome coatings and anti-fouling paints.
