In this work, a production model with screening of imperfect product and green house gas emission has been developed. Here, it has been considered that the manufacturing process transfer from in-control situation to out-of-control situation after an uncertain time, which is a random variable. In the out-of-control situation, a part of produced items are imperfect. For this reason, the manufacturer decides to check each item through screening process before sale the perfect items to the market. The screening and production rates are not equal and new type of screening process has been considered here. The imperfect rate depends on the length of out-of-control situation and its random nature. Also, the manufacturer sales the imperfect items by reducing the selling price. The greenhouse gas (GHG) emission tax has been considered here and its rate depends on the production rate. The objective of this study is to find the optimal business and production period, optimal production rate which maximizes the expected average profit of the model. Two numerical examples have been considered to illustrate the feasibility of the model. Finally, the sensitivity analysis have been carried out to get the effect of some important parameters on the optimization problem related to the proposed model. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited.

This study discusses the relationship between perceived stress and emotional eating based on shiftwork in city bus drivers. It was conducted with 1403 male city bus drivers working in Istanbul. Questions about the drivers’ physical activity and dietary habits, the Healthy Diet Index (HDI), Emotional Appetite Questionnaire and Perceived Stress Scale-10 data were collected and evaluated in two groups: shift and non-shift employees. It was found that the shift workers (SWs) have lower perceived stress, physical activity, HDI and positive emotional appetite averages. In addition, for SWs, a positive correlation was found between negative emotional appetite scores and physical activity and HDI scores. In conclusion, the drivers working in shifts were found to be slightly overweight and had lower physical activity levels, had lower HDI scores, and their nutritional status was more negatively impacted than their counterparts.

We introduce the Piquasso quantum programming framework, a full-stack open-source software platform for the simulation and programming of photonic quantum computers. Piquasso can be programmed via a high-level Python programming interface enabling users to perform efficient quantum computing with discrete and continuous variables. Via optional high-performance c++ backends, Piquasso provides state-of-the-art performance in the simulation of photonic quantum computers. The Piquasso framework is supported by an intuitive web-based graphical user interface where the users can design quantum circuits, run computations, and visualize the results. copyright © 2024, The Authors. This report discusses the enhancements and extensions included in ScIP Optimization Suite 9.0. The updates in ScIP 9.0 include improved symmetry handling, additions and improvements of nonlinear handlers and primal heuristics, a new cut generator and two new cut selection schemes, a new branching rule, a new LP interface, and several bugfixes. ScIP Optimization Suite 9.0 also features new Rust and c++ interfaces for ScIP, new Python interface for SoPlex, along with enhancements to existing interfaces. ScIP Optimization Suite 9.0 also includes new and improved features in the LP solver SoPlex, the presolving library PaPILO, the parallel framework UG, the decomposition framework GcG, and the ScIP extension ScIP-SDP. These additions and enhancements have resulted in an overall performance improvement of ScIP in terms of solving time, number of nodes in the branch-and-bound tree, as well as the reliability of the solver. copyright © 2024, The Authors. The ScIP Optimization Suite provides a collection of software packages for mathematical optimization centered around the constraint integer programming framework ScIP. The focus of this paper is on the role of the ScIP Optimization Suite in supporting research. ScIP's main design principles are discussed, followed by a presentation of the latest performance improvements and developments in version 8.0, which serve both as examples of ScIP's application as a research tool and as a platform for further developments. The ScIP Optimization Suite provides a collection of software packages for mathematical optimization centered around the constraint integer programming framework ScIP. This paper discusses enhancements and extensions contained in version 8.0 of the ScIP Optimization Suite. Major updates in ScIP include improvements in symmetry handling and decomposition algorithms, new cutting planes, a new plugin type for cut selection, and a complete rework of the way nonlinear constraints are handled. Additionally, ScIP 8.0 now supports interfaces for Julia as well as Matlab. Further, UG now includes a unified framework to parallelize all solvers, a utility to analyze computational experiments has been added to GcG, dual solutions can be postsolved by PaPILO, new heuristics and presolving methods were added to ScIP-SDP, and additional problem classes and major performance improvements are available in *** codes 90c05, 90c10, 90c11, 90c30, 90c90, 65Y05 copyright © 2021, The Authors. The present article deals with a backorder Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model for natural leisure/closing time system where the demand rate depends upon the total shortage period and the seasonal effect. A cost minimization problem is developed by trading off setup cost, inventory cost, cost for idle time and shortage cost. The intuitionistic step order fuzzy number for optimization has been developed, assuming all parameters as fuzzy numbers. Ranking is done by employing score function, accuracy value on the centre of gravity and Euclidean distance function over the objective function. Finally numerical examples are considered to justify the model. © 2014, Springer India Pvt. Ltd.

Recently, in Mathematical and computational Applications Journal chiu et al. [1] and chen and chiu [2] propose an inventory model based on EPQ with rework to determine the replenishment lot size and the number of shipments for a vendor-buyer integrated production-inventory system. They solve the inventory problem by considering both variables as continuous. However, the number of shipments must be considered as discrete variable. In this direction, this paper revisits and solves the inventory problem of [1-2] considering the decision variables according to their nature. Two easy and improved algorithms are proposed which simplify and complement the research works of [1-2].
