Cucumber farming plays a crucial role in Bangladesh's agricultural economy, significantly contributing to vegetable production. However, diseases like Downy Mildew, Bacterial Wilt, Anthracnose, and Belly Rot threaten crop quality and lead to financial losses. Effective management of these diseases is crucial for maintaining high crop yields and ensuring economic stability. Current disease identification methods are labor-intensive, costly, and dependent on expert knowledge. To address these challenges, this study presents an automated disease categorization system using advanced transfer learning models, including MobileNet, ShuffleNet, InceptionResNet-v2, AlexNet, and Ensemble Transfer Learning (ETL). Utilizing a dataset of 8,000 well-annotated images, enhanced through preprocessing techniques like GLRM feature extraction and InfoMAX-GAN feature selection, the ETL model achieved a remarkable accuracy of 99.79% and an F1-score of 99.78%. We also developed a user-friendly web tool for real-time diagnostics, providing invaluable support to farmers and agricultural specialists. This tool enables rapid disease detection, leading to increased productivity and a transformative approach to cucumber disease management. By reducing the reliance on chemical interventions, it promotes sustainable farming practices and safeguards human and animal health.

The rapid advancements in computer hardware and software facilitated the ability for conventional users and developers to use various virtualization techniques on their common personal computers. For example, users and developers are often using virtualization technologies such as VirtualBox, VMware, Docker, and WSL. These technologies enabled the ability to develop, test, and deploy software across various platforms and computing environments, each of which ensures isolation and security, but may often sacrifice performance due to the extra layer of communication. Thus, this paper presents a performance-based evaluation for thread-based applications that are hosted on different virtualization frameworks. Therefore, it evaluates the effects of virtualization techniques on sequential and multithreaded applications. The performance of the same application is measured on different environments, some of which are provided by a virtual machine that is powered by VirtualBox, while the others are contained in a lightweight virtualization that is provided by the WSL. This paper uses the same application on all environments and presents a performance wise comparison. © 2020 IEEE.

Due to the ever increasing usage of multimedia content sharing and the inherent nature of the insecure links used for transmission, it is quite necessary to provide a fast and secure encryption algorithm. Current symmetric ciphers possess properties that may reveal some content of the plaintext images, especially when a block cipher is used without any chaining. Chaotic encryption has been proposed to allow for hiding inherent properties of the images and to generate almost uniform histograms of the cipher image (i.e.; hiding any visual properties). To that end, we propose the use of hardware to implement chaos-based ciphers for faster execution time. The results of this work show that such an implementation is feasible, and even favorable, when compared to software-based image encryption.

Access to building data is crucial for creating portable applications and improving building operation and energy efficiency. Ensuring data transmutability is essential for facilitating research and overcoming the diverse data representation, management, and collection methods across various building management systems (BMSs). Different BMSs use multiple interfaces for data exchange. Some BMSs provide Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for data exchanges, while others have gateways connecting to cloud services for application subscription and data access. This study introduces a five-layered architecture that describes how client applications, researchers, and other interested stakeholders can exchange data with different BMSs. Our objective is to help researchers and practitioners understand the various ways of accessing transmutable (capable of being transformed into a compatible format) data from BMSs, regardless of the building management system a building uses. Through transmutable access to building systems’ data, we aim to enable transferable energy-efficient-related applications for buildings. We evaluate our work with a building model of the Varennes Library in Varennes, QC, Canada. The building model includes information about the building, floors, rooms, electric meter and historical time series data of the meter, weather station and its historical time series data. The model also has carbon dioxide concentration sensors, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, and historical time series data of the sensors. We include two test client programs to show how they access the transmutable data of the building through a model. We conclude that the five-layered architecture facilitates the exchange of transmutable data across diverse BMSs, making it a valuable tool for researchers and practitioners.

Several traffic optimization approaches are available nowadays, including compression, packet deduplication, specialized hardware and software solutions, application optimization, and neural network utilization. However, the inclination to approach data to consumers and transfer data to the periphery necessitates the employment of novel (perhaps combining the use of known) ways to handle the problem, while keeping in mind that most traffic is encrypted, and the proposed solution should be “transparent” to end-users. The article presents a technique for isolating encrypted IoT traffic, and a study of its effectiveness using a neural network in encrypted SSL sessions has been carried out.

In addition to tanking the economy and society, credential fraud frequently damages the credibility of higher education. As the majority of conventional verification and issuance procedures are arduous, expensive, and obsolete, fraud has proliferated in numerous forms, ranging from paper-based counterfeit certificates to replicas enabled by database manipulation, and has reached exponential quantities. In this paper, the authors propose AlgoCert, a comprehensive credential verification solution that incorporates blockchain, self-sovereign identity (SSI), and decentralized identifier (DID) to introduce a more proficient, attack-resistant system that is user-friendly as well as effective at reducing widespread credential fraud. In addition, AlgoCert leverages stateful smart contracts on the Algorand blockchain and non-transferable non-fungible tokens (NFT), and neither students nor organizations are required to handle credentials in order to use the system. This paper provides a prototype of our solution and detail our attempts to develop a verification service with features, including data security, transcript authentication, and selective data disclosure.

The presence of water in human life is crucial, and God has blessed humans much with its availability. This paper tries to reduce the amount of water that people use for washing in all aspects of daily life and instead utilize it to irrigate gardens and maintain hygienic facilities. The importance of water as a fundamental ingredient and the range of social and age groups that regularly take advantage of the washing process made it an ideal location for water waste during the washing process. This is why the authors choose this region to conduct their research. The monitoring and management of water usage during the washing process are simulated using PLC techniques.

The outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has had a profound impact on education worldwide. The rise of remote learning is one of the most significant changes in this regard, as many schools and universities were forced to close down by regional health authorities. This has also caused people to become more conservative in trade-offs between healthcare and education. Google Trends is the most common tool for analyzing online search behaviors. It is a free resource that provides information on the trends and changes in users' online interests over time based on certain terms and subjects. The online search queries on Google can be used to assess users' behaviors concerning online learning to forecast their choices regarding online education. This paper examines the frequency of users' web searches for online communication tools, courses, and learning terms. We statistically compared users in the Middle East and North Africa regions by using the volumes of searches recorded on Google Trends from January 2016 to August 2022. Moreover, we used machine learning techniques to identify differences among the keywords used. The findings statistically show that COVID-19 has led to an increase in the extent of students' attention to and interest in online learning.

Eggplant diseases present major challenges to agricultural productivity, leading to yield losses and threatening farmers livelihoods. Traditional diagnostic methods tend to be resource-intensive, subjective, and often inaccurate, making them unsuitable for large-scale use. This study addresses these shortcomings by proposing an Ensemble Transfer Learning (ETL) approach for precise classification of eggplant diseases. The model combines the strengths of ConvNeXt, EfficientNetV2, NFNet, and RegNet architectures, enhancing generalization and minimizing overfitting. Two datasets containing over 19,800 images were utilized for training and validation, with advanced preprocessing and data augmentation techniques applied to ensure high input data quality and model robustness. To assess performance, evaluation metrics such as accuracy, F1-score, MCC, and PR-AUC were used. The model achieved an impressive classification accuracy of 99.76%, surpassing state-of-the-art methods and demonstrating strong generalization across various conditions. A web-based application was also developed, enabling real-time disease diagnostics through a user-friendly interface. This application provides farmers with actionable insights, promoting sustainable farming practices by reducing crop losses and minimizing the need for chemical interventions. However, its reliance on high-quality labeled images limits its applicability in uncontrolled environments. Future research will aim to integrate more diverse datasets and develop mobile-based solutions to enhance scalability and usability. This study emphasizes the potential of ensemble transfer learning to transform agricultural disease diagnosis and improve crop productivity.
