Control systems behavior can be analyzed taking into account a large number of parameters: performances, reliability, availability, security. Each control system presents various security vulnerabilities that affect in lower or higher measure its functioning. In this paper the authors present a method to assess the impact of security issues on the systems availability. A fuzzy model for estimating the availability of the system based on the security level and achieved availability coefficient (depending on MTBF and MTR) is developed and described. The results of the fuzzy inference system (FIS) are presented in the last section of the paper.

Extracting high I/O performance from parallel file systems is no longer the only goal in modern data centres. As issues of the Energy Wall and the Reliability Wall become unavoidable, it is a demanding and challenging task to reduce energy consumption in large-scale storage systems in modern data centres while retaining acceptable systems reliability. Most energy conservation techniques inevitably have adverse impacts on the parallel disk systems. To address the reliability issues of energy-efficient parallel storage systems, we propose a reliable energy-efficient storage system called RESS, which aims at improving both energy efficiency and reliability of parallel storage systems by seamlessly integrating HDDs and SSDs. At the heart of the RESS is a transformative middleware layer, which reorganizes the I/O workload for the underlying parallel file systems. With the help of the middleware layer, RESS can distribute popular data to SSDs and put HDDs into the low-power mode under light workload conditions without modification of the parallel systems.

In this paper, we propose a user-friendly tool that calibrates the coefficient variables of Steinhart-Hart equation used for the temperature measurement of NTC thermistor. The proposed tool provides automatic modification of the coefficient variables only with temperature measurement, whereas the legacy process requires manual modification of the coefficient variables with temperature and resistance measurements. For user convenience, the proposed tool is implemented with a user-friendly GUI program. The tool is applied to 4-points temperature measurements of PCR devices. In accuracy evaluation, the proposed tool yields a precision of ±0.1°C. © 2015 SERSC.

It is recognized that the semantic space of knowledge is a hierarchical concept network. This paper presents theories and algorithms of hierarchical concept classification by quantitative semantic relations via machine learning based on concept algebra. The equivalence between formal concepts are analyzed by an Algorithm of Concept Equivalence Analysis (ACEA), which quantitatively determines the semantic similarity of an arbitrary pair of formal concepts. This leads to the development of the Algorithm of Relational Semantic Classification (ARSC) for hierarchically classify any given concept in the semantic space of knowledge. Experiments applying Algorithms ACEA and ARSC on 20 formal concepts are successfully conducted, which encouragingly demonstrate the deep machine understanding of semantic relations and their quantitative weights beyond human perspectives on knowledge learning and natural language processing.

Business analytics is an important means of gaining new insights and understanding of business performance. Data mining technology provides information needed by business analytics based on data. But due to the barriers of skill, resource and cost, business analytics is hard to carry out and put into practice for small and even medium sized enterprises. This paper presents a novel concept named Highly Consumable Business Analytics(HCBA) aiming to improve consumability of business analytics. We discuss the ways to simplify the use of data mining algorithms, establish end-to-end integrated lifecycle management of model and ultimately wrap models into web service to provide model-wise services. We propose a general reference architecture of HCBA. And a prototype is designed and implemented based on this architecture.

Delay tolerant network (DTN) routing provides a communication primitive in intermittently disconnected networks, such as battlefield communications and human-contact networks. In these applications, the anonymity preserving mechanism, which hides the identities of communicating parties, plays an important role as a defense against cyber and physical attacks. While anonymous routing protocols for DTNs have been proposed in the past, to the best of our knowledge, there is no work that emphasizes the theoretical aspects. In this paper, we first design an abstract of anonymous routing protocols for DTNs and augment the existing solution with multi-copy message forwarding. Then, we construct simplified mathematical models, which can be used to understand the fundamental performance and security guarantees of onion-based anonymous routing in DTNs. The numerical and simulation results using randomly generated contact graphs and the real traces demonstrate that our models provide very close approximations to the performance of the anonymous DTN routing protocol.

It is recognized that both sources of and solutions to the big data challenges are human collective *** are an abstract representation of the quantity of realistic entities and perceived *** data play an indispensable role not only in a wide range of engineering applications,but also in the cognitive mechanisms of both humans and cognitive robots such as sensation,quantification,qualification,estimation,memory,and *** keynote lecture presents online big data analytic theories by machine learning as well as knowledge extraction by cognitive ***,information,knowledge,and intelligence are the four hierarchical layers of cognitive objects in the brain and cognitive systems from the bottom *** is discovered by the author that,although the cognitive unit of data is bit,that of knowledge is bir,i.e.,a binary relation.A resent finding towards big data science is that big data systems in nature are a recursive ndimensional typed hyperstructure(RNDTHS).This topological property of big data reveals that the mathematical foundation of big data science is underpinned by big data algebra(BDA),which is a denotational mathematical structure for efficiently dealing with the inherited complexities and unprecedented challenges in big data *** leads to a coherent theory for big data modeling,analyses,mining,information elicitation,knowledge extraction,and intelligent generation for cognitive *** experiments demonstrate that cognitive robots may autonomously transform big data in vast linguistic databases(corpuses) into sophistic knowledge bases by cognitive machine learning.

An efficient and flexible business process not only helps an organization to meet the requirements of the evolving surroundings but also may facilitate a competitive advantage over other companies towards delivering the desired services. This is even more critical for an emerging paradigm like cloud based deployment. In this paper, we introduce a novel mechanism to generate the business process suitable for specific organizations. The approach provides an automated way to build the possible business processes for a given set of tasks that fulfills the goal and satisfies the constraints of an organization. In step 1, we show how to generate the finite space of all possible designs for a given set of tasks. Secondly, we accumulate the effect of each step to deduce the final effect of each possible process design and to ensure that the redesigned set of steps still realizes the service goal. The designs not meeting the service goals are eliminated from the space. In step 3, the rest of the designs are checked for the constraint satisfaction subject to some specific cases. The framework provides a comprehensive, both syntactically and semantically correct, consistent business process generation methodology that adheres to the target business goals and constraints.

This study is a sequel of a recent publication where the coupling concepts as well as the advantages of coupling of declarative models were clarified. In this article, the basic concepts of simulation model coupling is reviewed. Advanced input concepts, including context-mediated perception, are elucidated. Synergy of agents and simulation is revised. Awareness-based couplings of intelligent agents are explained. Other advanced coupling concepts clarified include: deliberation-based coupling, introspection-based coupling, anticipation-based coupling, and model/real-system coupling.

This paper describes a two-part system that helps developers understand how to search and reuse complex software libraries. First, we present an approach for automatic retrieval of software components in reuse libraries. Second, the system implements a source-code recommendation approach which automatically constructs and delivers relevant code examples that demonstrate how the retrieved components can be used to solve particular programming problems. In arriving at such solutions, we utilize ontological modeling to provide semantic representation of the conceptual source-code knowledge in software libraries. This representation is the basis for computing entailments and enabling semantic reasoning. Our experiments show evidence that combining ontology formalisms with context-sensitive techniques enhance precision when retrieving and recommending reusable code even without mining a carefully crafted corpus of similar code.
