Learning-Based Perimeter Invasion Design with Partial information of Defense Model

This paper focuses on the learning-based perimeter-defense problem. Specifically, we consider a scenario where an attacker invades an area protected by a defender with only partial information about the target area and defense strategy. The attack design is challenging since the flexible and unknown defense strategy results in the highly uncertain feasible invasion space. To address the problem, we propose a learning-based method by using patrol and defense trajectories. First, we apply an ellipse fitting method to regress the perimeter of the protected area with piecewise elliptic segments. Then, we characterize the defense behaviors into different patterns and learn the conditions to activate different strategies by tentative invasions. Finally, we design a model predictive controller to solve the optimal invasion trajectory planning. Simulations are provided to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

A recently proposed fully passive quantum key distribution (QKD) removes all source modulator side channels. In this work, we combine fully passive sources with measurement-device-independent (MDI) QKD to simultaneously remove side channels from source modulators and detectors. We show a numerical simulation of passive MDI QKD, and we obtain an acceptable key rate while achieving much better implementation security, as well as ease of implementation, compared with a recently proposed fully passive twin-field QKD, paving the way towards more secure and practical QKD systems. We prove that a fully passive protocol is compatible with MDI QKD and we propose a novel idea that can improve the sifting efficiency.

The identification of parameters of the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is considered. The proposed algorithm makes it possible to consider the errors in measurements of current, voltage, and electrical angular speed. Generalized total least squares (GTLS) are used to identify parameters. The simulation results confirmed the high accuracy of the resulting estimates.

Cloud computing is a reasonably distributed computing with heterogeneous computing resources. Resource sharing, convenience of resources that correspond to the needs and a lot of box-management issues facing the cloud. Here, during this paper, analysis and comparison of varied existing algorithms of service brokers and load equalization algorithms in cloud computing . To check the implementation of existing algorithms, varied modeling tools were developed, for instance, a Cloud Analyst. The performance of the present policies of the service broker is compared by considering total response time and execution time in data center.

In the design of technology intensive products like copiers, wafer steppers and televisions, one searches for a product that satisfies the product requirements as well as the business drivers. The main need in an early design phase is to bring structure in the typical chaos of uncertainty and the huge amount of realization options present. Potential realization choices all have advantages and disadvantages, which cause tensions and conflicts. The earlier the (essential) conflicts and tensions are identified, the better it is. Turning them from implicit to explicit helps the system architect in making the trade-off consciously or at least in selecting the most important tensions and conflicts that require further in-dept. investigation. In this respect we demonstrate the effectiveness of a technique called "threads of reasoning". The illustrative case study is the design of the paper flow control (sensors, actuators, control architecture, etc.) in a high-volume copier/printer. Copyright © 2006 by J.H. Sandee.

The article presents a simulation model of a pneumatic drive for electrodes of a stationary contact spot welding machine. Thanks to the developed model, it becomes possible to analyze the system, as well as visually study its operation. The result of modeling the system is the obtained transients of the elements of the pneumatic system. The developed simulation model adequately describes the state and behavior of a real system of pneumatic compression of electrodes. The work is of interest to pneumatic engineers, designers and other specialists working in the field of pneumatics and can be used for more accurate and efficient design, analysis and optimization of not only a specific system of pneumatic compression of electrodes, but also pneumatic systems in general.

In recent years, the design of anomaly detectors has attracted a tremendous surge of interest due to security issues in industrial control systems (ICS). Restricted by hardware resources, most anomaly detectors can only be deployed at the remote monitoring ends, far away from the control sites, which brings potential threats to anomaly detection. In this paper, we propose an active real-time anomaly detection framework deployed in the controller of OpenPLC, which is a standardized open-source PLC and has high scalability. Specifically, we add adaptive active noises to control signals, and then identify a linear dynamic system model of the plant offline and implement it in the controller. Finally, we design two filters to process the estimated residuals based on the obtained model and use χ 2 detector for anomaly detection. Extensive experiments are conducted on an industrial control virtual platform to show the effectiveness of the proposed detection framework.

The results of physical modeling of power supply systems with several stages of supply voltage transformation and symmetric three-phase load are presented. The results were obtained on the physical model of the power system made at Voronezh State Technical University. The physical model consists of the physical model of a power plant with different types of generators, physical models of transformer substations with transformers of various groups of windings, and physical models of overhead and cable power lines. A special group of models is made up of load nodes, including those with voltage regulation at the points of common coupling. The obtained at the points of common coupling electric power quality indicators are discussed for the devices with the systems “converter-frequencyasynchronous motor with squirrel-cage rotor The complex studies of the voltage form deviation from the sine and the degree of symmetry are of interest, taking into account the phase of the load, especially at non-phases modes from a high voltage side of main step-down substation of a power system. The conclusions are drawn about the need to change the approaches towards the fine-tuning of the settings of directional differential protection of power lines when non-phase modes occur.

Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) are systems that exhibit tight coordination of computational and physical elements. A CPS node which is a mobile node having sensors should cooperate with each other in order to monitor and control the physical world adaptively. In the CPS environment, Guaranteeing reliability, real-time service, and scalability are significant issues. To meet these requirements, Opportunistic Routing (OR) can be used effectively. The OR is a recent routing paradigm that achieves high throughput by taking full advantage of the broadcast nature of wireless channel. Moreover, multicast can also be available as means to manage coordination among CPS nodes. In this paper, we propose a reliable and scalable real-time multicast routing protocol based on the opportunistic routing and location information of nodes called Opportunistic Multicast Routing (OMR) for CPS. OMR satisfies the CPS requirements through hop-by-hop strategy rather than end-to-end strategy. The simulation results show that OMR achieves better multicast efficiency and reliability than the traditional multicast routing protocol.
