This paper presents the design and implementation of a comprehensive Criminal Identification and Reporting System (CIRS) aimed at enhancing law enforcement capabilities and improving public safety. The system enables users, including victims and law enforcement officers, to submit and manage complaints seamlessly through an intuitive online platform. Opioid abuse and dependence have emerged as a pressing global concern, posing significant challenges to public health and society. Early identification and prediction of opioid dependency represent crucial steps in mitigating its abuse impact on individuals and communities. The application of machine learning techniques to analyze medical data has opened new avenues for achieving this goal. While this field and the prediction is still in its infancy, our research explores the potential of several machine learning algorithms including LightGBM for this risk prediction. To tackle the inherent class imbalance in the MIMICIII dataset, we implemented the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). We developed predictive models using four distinct algorithms: decision trees, random forests, support vector machines, and LightGBM. These models were meticulously evaluated to assess their performance. Ultimately, our findings revealed that the LightGBM model outperformed the other algorithms, demonstrating superior accuracy and achieving a higher Area Under the Curve value. This outcome underscores the potential of LightGBM as a valuable algorithm in the early prediction of the risk of opioid dependence, thereby offering substantial benefits to both patients and society at large. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper proposes a cryptographic protocol two-factor authentication with the zero-knowledge over the extended field GF(2m) on elliptic curves using biometric data and private key of the user. The implementation of a cryptographic protocol with zero-knowledge proof based on elliptic curves allows significantly reducing the size of protocol parameters and increasing the cryptographic strength (computational complexity of the breaking). The cryptographic protocol was modeled in the High-Level Protocol Specification Language, the model validation and protocol verification was performed using the Security Protocol Animator tool for Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications. The software verification of the cryptographic protocol was performed using the software modules On the Fly Model Checker and Constraint Logic based Attack Searcher. © 2023 IEEE.

Fake news continues to proliferate, posing an increasing threat to public discourse. The paper proposes a framework of a Mixture of Experts, Sentiment Analysis, and Sarcasm Detection experts for improved fake news detection. This approach captures the emotional cues in the text through a Sentiment Analysis expert, which is based on bidirectional encoder representations from Transformers (BERT) models with sentiment vectors generated using SentiWordNet and Integrated Gradients. It combines a sarcasm detection expert based on BERT, recognizing sarcasm and its type to help classify fake news. By fusing these experts through a Mixture of Experts gateway, subtle linguistic cues often found in fake news are more effectively analyzed, leading to improved accuracy in detecting misinformation. Experimental results are presented as 96% for the Sarcasm expert with the BERT base model and 83% for the Sentiment Analysis expert with the distilled version of the BERT (DistilBERT) base model, proving the effectiveness of the proposed approach in beating traditional methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Graphical User Interface (GUI) designing and testing of different applications is significant from a user point of view. GUI testing ensures that the user interface of apps is visually appealing, user-friendly, and enhances user satisfaction. Pattern-Based GUI Testing (PBGT) is a new model-based testing approach that aims to enhance reusability while reducing the workload associated with modeling user interfaces and testing applications. The objective of conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on pattern-based GUI testing is to consolidate existing knowledge and provide insights for improving the effectiveness of PBGT methods. The objectives of conducting an SLR are the identification of current state-of-the-art approaches and tools in the targeted research context. To accomplish the mentioned objectives, A hybrid methodology combining Kitchenham's SLR and PRISMA guidelines was used to conduct this SLR. We performed a keyword-based search on well-known databases IEEE, ACM, science Direct, Wiley, and Springer Link to determine the potential studies published in the last 10 years. Following a comprehensive systematic analysis, we identified a total of twenty-four studies employing varied approaches for pattern-based GUI testing. Additionally, we identified 11 tools that have been used and proposed in PBGT for Android and web apps and made a taxonomy of tools. We also identified challenges and research directions. The implications of this study are significant. The current study is helpful for researchers intending to work in pattern-based GUI testing. The comprehensive knowledge about the current state-of-the-art Tools, techniques, and approaches will help practitioners to effectively apply them in industry and enable researchers to extend their work in this context in future research. © 2023 IEEE.

The process of a supply chain involves a series of activities that distribute, assemble, and manage products, transferring them from the supplier to the end consumer. It operates as a complex, interconnected network regulated by supply and demand. Security in supply chain management is a crucial aspect of its overall security measures, focusing primarily on maintaining essential end-to-end protection. Without this, several attacks can be used to manipulate data and valuable information from the entire chain of networks. This paper explains how encrypted intermediates can secure the entire SCM by validating each intermediate using public-private key encryption. We also demonstrate and assess how the proposed AAF-SCM model can aid in tracing security breaches or unauthorized data tampering. We also validate this model against nefarious attacks like Fabrication, Assertion, Deletion, and Modification. Finally, we propose opportunities to develop innovative systems that enhance security through intermediary steps. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of robotics and autonomous systems, efficient path planning is a critical aspect for optimizing resource utilization and achieving mission objectives. This study explores the application of Ant Colony Optimized (ACO) algorithms to enhance the efficiency of robots in navigating and exploring unknown environments. Inspired by the foraging behavior of ants, ACO algorithms are employed to find the shortest paths by leveraging pheromone communication and decentralized decision-making. Ant Colony Optimization is then introduced as a bio-inspired solution to address these challenges. The experimental results demonstrate the capability of the ACO algorithm to efficiently explore complex environments, adapt to changes in the surroundings, and converge to optimal paths. Insights gained from these analyses contribute to the refinement of the ACO algorithm for diverse robotic applications. The findings of this research have practical implications for the development of autonomous robots operating in real-world scenarios, such as search and rescue missions, environmental monitoring, and surveillance. This study provides a valuable foundation for the integration of bio-inspired algorithms in robotics, advancing the state-of-the-art in autonomous exploration and path planning. © 2024 IEEE.

Women in computing were among the first programmers in the early 20th century and were substantial contributors to the industry. Today, men dominate the software engineering industry. Research and data show that women are far less likely to pursue a career in this industry, and those that do are less likely than men to stay in it. Reasons for women and other underrepresented minorities to leave the industry are a lack of opportunities for growth and advancement, unfair treatment and workplace culture. This research explores how the potential to cultivate or uphold an industry unfavourable to women and non-binary individuals manifests in software engineering education at the university level. For this purpose, the study includes surveys and interviews. We use gender name perception as a survey instrument, and the results show small differences in perceptions of software engineering students based on their gender. Particularly, the survey respondents anchor the values of the male software engineer (Hans) to a variety of technical and non-technical skills, while the same description for a female software engineer (Hanna) is anchored mainly by her managerial skills. With interviews with women and non-binary students, we gain insight on the main barriers to their sense of ambient belonging. The collected data shows that some known barriers from the literature such as tokenism, and stereotype threat, do still exist. However, we find positive factors such as role models and encouragement that strengthen the sense of belonging among these students. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Technology is very volatile in nature, in a way that it keeps on changing daily. Restaurants are no different in the effects of this changing scenario. The primary objective of this research paper is to explore the historical trajectory of restaurants, analyze the current trends shaping the industry, and delve into the potential of chatbot integration to overcome existing challenges. Chatbots can play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance of businesses as per the research done. An integrated Dialog Flow application has been proposed, incorporating Rule-based grammar matching and M.L matching algorithms.
