To directly investigate the dynamic nanoscale phenomenon on the surface being processed in wet conditions such as precision polishing, and cleaning in semiconductor industrial, an optical method for visualization and observation of each sub-100 nm sized particle that is moving on an interface such as a silica glass surface by applying an evanescent field have been proposing. Subsequently, we developed an experimental apparatus equipped with an optical microscopy system for verifying the moving particle observation method in a laboratory scale. This article introduces some experimentally direct observation results of duplicated wet processes.

This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper. Using the mathematical model developed in Simulink software using the methods of planning the experiment, regression models were obtained to establish the dependence of the parameters of overexcitation of a synchronous motor on the magnitude of the voltage sag in the no

Chest radiography presents one of the main medical imaging modalities for diagnosing lung diseases. To assist radiologists during interventional procedures, this paper aims at proposing a transfer learning-based classifier to automatically identify 14 different thoracic diseases in Chest X-ray (CXR) images. The proposed method is relied on deep residual neural networks with 50 layers (ResNet-50) to accomplish the diagnostic task of many chest diseases. In this study, a public dataset of 112, 120 frontal radiograph images for Chest X-ray has been used for validating the proposed deep learning classifier. It achieved the best performance of multi-label classification of normal and 14 different lung diseases with an average area under curve (AUC) of 0.911 and F1-score of 0.66. This study demonstrated that the proposed ResNet-50 classifier as a transfer learning model outperforms other relevant methods in the previous studies for automatic multi-label classification of chest X-rays. © 2021 IEEE.

The paper deals with a new algorithm for controlling a multi-phase buck DC-DC converter. The principle of its control is explained in detail using a flowchart. It is based on the continuous change of the converter topology using the number of its currently controlled phases depending on the size of the input power. In connection with this, its microprocessor control is also mentioned. The whole issue is explained on the design, simulation and measurement of a laboratory sample of a four-phase buck converter.

A two-channel Sallen-Key low-pass filter on three non-inverting amplifiers is studied, which has the property of unrelated digital set of the upper cut-off frequency at constant index of the transmission coefficient in the bandwidth range. The restructuring of the upper cutoff frequency and the attenuation of the pole is carried out by modify the resistors’ resistance of one in the upper channel of the low-pass filter. It is shown that a non-inverting amplifier in the lower channel of the low-pass filter can have a small value of the systematic zero bias voltage component, what is important for the operation of the low-pass filter at the input of analog-to-digital converters. It has been established that due to the construction of a low-pass filter according to a two-channel architecture, the requirement for the magnitude of the output static voltage of the upper channel is removed. The base equations of the new low-pass filter scheme are given and the summary modeling in the Micro-Cap was pictured.

One major goal of digital twin technology applied in the Architecture, engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry is the mapping of roads and road environments with their associated information. Such digital twins can support cost-effective testing, simulations, and the production of mapping backgrounds for automated vehicles and generally for Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) developments. The efficient workflow that leads from data acquisition to finished products depends on a number of requirements and knowledge sets. The main contribution of the paper is a general methodology of creating HD-map from point cloud and image data set. Accordingly, the most widely used survey techniques are presented and the requirements for the objects to be derived are summarized. The paper then outlines a general implementation procedure as an expert knowledge through a real-life example, where the results obtained for the ZalaZONE Automotive Proving Ground are demonstrated.

The purpose of the work is to investigate the possibilities of soft-start devices with gate turn-off thyristors in electric drives of bow thrusters with adjustable propeller pitch to increase reliability, reduce mechanical shocks and currents, and improve electromagnetic compatibility with the ship’s electrical power plant. The characteristic features of these drives are operation on fan load and the need for a smooth start in a sufficiently short time to reduce impact torque in the mechanism. As a result of the analysis, a solution with a shunt capacitor is proposed, which provides high accuracy of regulation of the 1st harmonic of the voltage on the motor according to the given law. The minimum value of the capacitor capacity was found, which for the ABB/AMD710L8T motor with a capacity of 2.7 MW is 150-250 μF at switching frequencies from 500 to 1000 Hz. For the first time, the dependences of the GTO switching frequency on the capacitor capacity and the coefficient of harmonic distortion of the current in the stator phase of the selected motor were found. Frequencies are obtained that correspond to the actual physical characteristics of the GTO (500–1000 Hz). At such switching frequencies, the characteristics of the soft start device practically do not differ from the ideal regulator of the phase voltage of an asynchronous motor. This makes it possible to synthesize closed systems with stabilization of the main coordinates of soft starter electric drive, two-circuit systems with the formation of a given tachogram with torque limitation. All this makes it feasible to implement soft start devices based on gate turn-off thyristors.

the phenomenon of induction heating is a very energy efficient way of heating bodies. However, it depends on various factors, making the problem highly nonlinear. Mathematical analysis of this problem is in most cases very complex and is reduced to simple cases. Further knowledge of induction heating systems is gained in production environments, but these trial and error procedures are long and expensive. Another approach to reduce the above disadvantages is numerical models of the induction heating problem. This paper deals with a simulation model of the induction heating problem. A simulation model of the induction heating system in the COMSOL Multiphysics program is created. Equivalent inductance and equivalent resistance of the induction coil and workpiece connection during the heating and temperature change process are obtained for different parameters of the alternating current flowing through the induction coil. The model includes nonlinear electromagnetic and thermal properties of the workpiece material. The simulation model provides basic information about the processes taking place in the heated material. To verify the simulation model, experimental measurements are performed using the designed and implemented power converter. © 2021 IEEE.

wireless power transmission has been known for over a hundred years and is a method of transmitting electricity over long distances without the use of a conductive medium. Due to the lack of a conductive element, the main disadvantage of this system is its low efficiency. This paper presents an analysis of this system for an electric vehicle. A simulation model created in COMSOL Multiphysics is presented. The two coils are placed in close proximity and the theoretical efficiency of energy transfer between the coils is analyzed. A laboratory model of such a system is developed for a radio controlled (RC) car model. The experimental measurements are compared with the results of the simulation and summarize the necessary steps to be taken in designing such a system. © 2021 IEEE.

Sleep apnoea is a common sleep disorder during human sleep. It is usually diagnosed by a doctor after recording one nights’ sleep signals. Patients have to go to the hospital to record sleep signals, which is time-consuming and resource-intensive. The study focused on two signals, pulse data and oximetry data, with the aim of detecting apnoea using a single signal. This paper introduced an anomaly detection approach using the adaptive cumulative sum (ACUSUM) change point detection algorithm to monitor outliers in the signal. In addition, the test results of ACUSUM will be compared with the test results of classical CUSUM. Besides, the threshold selection has been changed from an unchanging constant to a value related to the standard deviation of the selected signal based on a rational subgroup process. The results of the comparison confirm that ACUSUM is better than classical CUSUM in the accuracy of automatic detection.
