In the paper, the authors describe the improved operational amplifier architecture (op-amp). Complementary FETs with the p-n-junction control were used in the design of this op-amp, depletion-mode complementary MOS can also be used. The character of the suggested op-amp is to create conditions that contribute to obtaining low systematical constituent offset voltage (V off ), which significantly depends on the change in the drain-gate specifications of transistors when the static voltages on their drains change. It should be noted that the high symmetric of the static regimen of the input transistors and output transistors of the folded-cascode of the suggested op-amp is supplied to reduce this constituent V off in the considered op-amp circuit. Computer modelling of the op-amp carried out in the LTSpice was fulfilled in the large range of temperatures (from -197°C to 27°C). The suggested circuit design minimizes the systematical constituent V off (below 30 µV) and increases the open-loop gain of op-amp to 60 dB. The JFET op-amp circuitry suggested in the paper is advised to analog-to-digital and analog interfaces, incl. those operating at exposure to radiation and low temperatures.

In recent years, and especially during the on-going pandemic, the interest in investigating the dynamics of infodemics has increased to unprecedented levels. In this study we propose an agent-based model for the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and other similar information. The model is based on the susceptible-infected-recovered-susceptible epidemic interpretation. We introduce a rule-based reasoning module to model individual bias in the perception of information based on the psychology concept of illusion of knowledge. We integrate this module into a deliberative-reactive agent controller structure and a decentralized control scheme for the multi-agent system. Results show significant differences between the outputs of the proposed model and the classical version, impressing on the effects of considering local agent individuality when modeling human psycho-social interactions.

In a recent paper [1], we developed a target capturing strategy for swarms composed of double integrator agents. In this paper, we build on the results in [1] and focus on the implementation of the methodology for a swarm composed of quadrotor UAVs. We utilize both MATLAB and ROS environments under realistic conditions for that purpose. In ROS, we utilize Ultra-Violet LED blinkers based Ultra-Violet Direction And Ranging (UVDAR) system for relative localization. The sensing and localization errors serve as realistic errors for the assumptions in [1] for the uncertainties of the velocity and acceleration of the target. We verify in a realistic scenario that the agents converge to a user-defined ellipsoidal ring around the target despite the uncertainties and the more realistic agent dynamics.

The considerable increase of wind turbine rotor size and weight in the last years has made impossible to control as they were controlled 20 years ago. The cost of energy is an essential role to maintain this type of energy as a viable alternative in economic terms with traditional or other renewable energies. Through the last decades many different flow control devices have been developed. Most of them were shaped for aeronautical issues and this was its first research application. Currently researchers are working to optimize and introduce these types of devices in multi megawatt wind turbines. Gurney flap (GF) is a vane perpendicular to the airfoil surface with a size between 0.1 and 3% of the airfoil chord length, placed in the lower or upper side of the airfoil close to the trailing edge of the airfoil. When GFs are appropriately designed, they increase the total lift of the airfoil while reducing the drag. Thanks to the implementation of the of this flow control device the efficiency of a wind turbine improves, which results on an increase in the power generation. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.

With neural networks being used to control safety-critical systems, they increasingly have to be both accurate (in the sense of matching inputs to outputs) and robust. However, these two properties are often at odds with each other and a trade-off has to be navigated. To address this issue, this paper proposes a method to generate an approximation of a neural network which is certifiably more robust. Crucially, the method is fully convex and posed as a semi-definite programme. An application to robustifying model predictive control is used to demonstrate the results. The aim of this work is to introduce a method to navigate the neural network robustness/accuracy trade-off. © 2024, CC BY.

Precise localization is essential for the operation of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) in urban scenarios. Camera and LiDAR-based solutions are currently used in some of the CAVs around the world, but they entail an expensive performance in terms of computational time and economic cost. Due to this, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based solutions remains the preferred solution for positioning Automated Vehicles in different Operational Design Domains (ODDs). Although several improvements in system reliability have been made recently, in case of positioning failures most of the architectures rely on system redundancy or automation disengagements to achieve minimal risk conditions. This paper presents a fail-safe decision architecture for mitigating positioning failures of automated vehicles in urban scenarios. The proposed architecture utilizes a combination of sensor fusion localization and decision-making modules to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle in the event of a positioning failure. The proposed approach is evaluated through simulation in a representative urban scenario and is shown to effectively handle positioning failures, improving the localization accuracy provided by each information source.

This work considers the path planning problem for a team of identical robots evolving in a known environment. The robots should satisfy a global specification given as a Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) formula over a set of regions of interest. The proposed method exploits the advantages of Petri net models for the team of robots and Büchi automata modeling the specification. The approach in this paper consists in combining the two models into one, denoted Composed Petri net and use it to find a sequence of action movements for the mobile robots, providing collision free trajectories to fulfill the specification. The solution results from a set of Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problems. The main advantage of the proposed solution is the completeness of the algorithm, meaning that a solution is found when exists, this representing the key difference with our previous work in [1]. The simulations illustrate comparison results between current and previous approaches, focusing on the computational complexity. © 2022, CC BY.

This paper presents a sliding mode control strategy for a dc-dc dual active bridge converter. The controller is based on a truncated model obtained using the generalized state space averaging method that transforms the mixed dc-ac dynamics of the converter into a regulation problem. The proposed controller, that uses a dynamic extension to overcome the structural problem of the non-affine control input, provides good results in terms of performance and robustness. Numerical simulations are included to validate the proposed modelling methodology and the control design.

A novel nonlinear controller that inherently limits the RMS value of a three-phase grid-following inverter current is presented in this paper. Using the dynamic model of the inverter in the rotating dq reference frame, a nonlinear control scheme is formulated to ensure accurate real and reactive power regulation with RMS current limitation that avoids the use of saturation units with upper/lower limit adaptation, as commonly used in the existing approaches. In particular, it is analytically proven by using fundamental nonlinear systems theory, that the RMS value of the inverter current will never violate a given maximum value, both during the transient response and at the steady-state. Moreover, a detailed root locus analysis is provided to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the desired equilibrium point for the closed-loop system. Finally, to validate the proposed controller performance, simulation results of a grid-following three-phase inverter equipped with the proposed control approach are presented under both normal and unrealistic values of the real and reactive power setpoints. © 2020 Institution of engineering and Technology.
